Leaving edges out can help to add more wow to your painting. Lost edges give your subjects depth so that they look less "flat" against the paper.

Lost edges are magic! I learned this technique from you on Patreon and I'm eternally grateful. I'm at the point now where I don't want to do a painting without them; always looking for places to put them in. Thank you Louise! By the way, I think Leo wants his own channel.
Thanks Louise for this video about lost edges! Since the beginning of 2023 I used this technique to get a feeling of overexposure from the sun over the subject of my watercolour painting and now I know this technique could be useful for another effect. Have a good day from Canarias islands 🏝
Love, love, love that goose and I also love, love, love your un-straightened hair!
I like the effect that the burnt sienna in the grey separates a little at the edges adding a touch of color that harmonizes with the orange elsewhere. Great video!
Thanks Louise. I love the tip to leave a gap in the drawing where you want to create lost edges.
Leo is the star of the show! Sweet kitty.
muy bonito
felices fiestas desde zaragoza
This is a paradigm shift for my sense and crave for perfection: understanding that an imperfect outline is perfect! Just wow!
Thank you Louise very interesting about the lost edges, I must try it out soon. Thank you for your great tutorials xx
I got inspired by your work and tried a painting with lost edges. Really loved the effect ❤
Thank you for this! I must try it soon. I want Leo! At least some hugs!
The yellow flower is amazing! 😍😍😍
Hi Louise, this video is very interesting and helpful! Lost edges add a different dimension to your subject. Leo is the cutest little kitty and he wants to be close to you❤ Thank you. Helene
Thank you 🙏🏻❤️
Wonderful, thank you Louise!
Thank you for sharing Louise. Love your hair 😊
Thank you!!!😊
Wonderful!
Thanks so much! ⭐
I love little Leo! 😍
Wow.just amazing. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for sharing this beautiful video, this work is great and good to too. Thanks ❤❤❤
Thanks for the great tutorial, Louise! Have you (or anyone reading this comment) tried experimenting with lost edges in portraits? How did it impact the overall feel of the painting?
I appreciate how you organize topics within your presentations. Thanks
I miss your old style of videos Louise. The ones where you would talk about things like Lost Edges while completing the entire painting.
I understand this but have trouble with planning lost and found edges.
Hello Louise! Can you tell me what printer you use to make prints of your works of art?
Very important topic and information, but my first impression of the Thumbnail was "Why is the head of the Goose exploding?" - Sorry, but it looked like blood to me... In close it looks good, but that was my first thought. That's not ment as a critique or so, definitely not.
Me too and it’s not critique. I love all Louise de Masi paint
Same... but as we got close to the painting it was beautiful. Definitely something to consider though. We need to remember to step back and give it a good look.
