Been a Class 1 driver for 24 years. Things to watch out for and you will notice this. If it’s a Woman, New car or a private plate they will be a problem 🙈
Australian thumbnail editor is here replying to you on this one. We are a specialist in comments like this. I wanted to tell you that over here we call it the 3 Ts and they will definitely send you broke. T/ts, Tracks, or Tyres. All of them are trouble.
Bit sexist. All genders have good and bad drivers.
My first job in class 2 I was watching “how to strap your load on CZcams 😂”. 10 minutes before my first shift. 2 years later have my class 1 test next week.
Nice one fella, good luck im Sure you will smash it!
Appreciate the support nice to know someones been following my journey for so long. 👍
I guess the aim of the game is to not get thrown in jail while delivering the public’s goods.
Yes 💯, i mean it definitely helps!
Like motorcycles. Act like everyone wants to run into you.
Exactly. Except bigger
6:22 A video on strapping would be really cool.
Just had a really good idea for a video!! Inspired from this comment as well.
@@truckitprayleShare with the class.
Stay tuned for the video
You never ever want to drop a trailer. That would be a massive no no.
Also you don’t want to run people over.
All very good tips for people wanting to get a start for sure. there is a lot more that could be explained and shared.
Have seen dropped trailers all the time.
I have seen some clips of a trailer that punched a hole through the ground. I think it got too hot and the asphalt melted? I could be wrong with that?
@@TruckingAU Have seen a few on the internet as well. They have to get a crane if it is loaded.
That would make a lot of sense as well because of the weight the trailers carry.
Hello Philip, I had a great instructor and really enjoyed the driving, take time to look around a do your research on training companies. Good luck 👍
I passed my test last week, and I have to agree with point #2: work your way up, wholeheartedly. I was planning to go from Car to Class 1. After 4 hours driving, I just wasn't comfortable, and decided to drop down to Class 2.
Basically for me, from Car to Class 1 is such a massive jump, and I'm not saying it's impossible, just make sure you're prepared for it, watch your speed (I needed to go way slower on bends than I expected to), feather your steering around corners.
Those are some really good points. It is a massive jump up.
It is a huge jump from Car license up to a Class 1 and especially in the UK.
Taking corners at speed takes equal parts guts and confidence.
What is the hardest part of it all?
@@truckitprayleI would say the hardest part for me is balancing keeping in your lane and not hitting the curb whilst turning. Also knowing when you will need 2 lanes, either straddling before a turn, or knowing you will need to swing out over both lanes when coming into a dual carriageway for example.
Checking mirrors constantly helps with this, as well as lower speed I've found. Until it goes from my conscious thinking to subconscious doing, I think these things will be my main worry.
Yeah it can be daunting at first, but in time it will become almost natural to you, but like e said this is why working your way up in my opion is important.
Where abouts in the country are you driving?
@@truckitprayle South Wales. Will begin the job hunt after Christmas. 👍
Just passed my theory test mod case for class 2 gonna try dip me toes in then if it’s good then I’ll go up to c-e
Nice one mate good luck! 👍
2:11 Mirrors Mirrors Mirrors. They will save lives for sure.
That’s what they teach you. Vital
That’s a very loud thumbnail mate. Obviously we love the red.
The red is perfect.
Thank you. Working hard on them for sure.
@truckitprayle Matches yours.
Australian thumbnail editors doing their job.
I knew they would come in handy one day.
Not letting go of the steering wheel with both hands is a good start!😂
😆 I don’t claim to be perfect 😂 You did find the Easter egg in the video though. Good spotting.
Did you find the others in the last 4 videos ?
Hahaha someone else saw it as well?
Yeah i am only human i guess!
Thanks this is one of the best channels that help newbies just subscribed and learning everyday
Thanks i appreciate that, how long you been driving for?
Thought i was watching one of barry's video's " Mirrors"🤣. Seriously good advice as always.
The one day you think you've cracked it it will bite you in the arse. Everyday's a learning day.
Cheers fella, haha i slipped over my words a little. Do you think there is anything else important you would advise?
@@truckitprayle sorry for the late reply. I'm working tonight. Only other bits are GOAL. No disgrace to check and take a shunt .especially somewhere new or poor weather.
New or experienced it still applies.
Yes thats a good one mate! 👍
Agree with you regarding WTD. Thankfully our heads are set, so whatever break is due first it shows it on the head. Exmp. If I've been working say 4hrs and only been driving 90mins the head will show my next break needs to be a 15min and when it needs to be taken by.
Thank you 👍👍
Very welcome mate.
Have just passed my class 1 and am looking for work. Thanks for the video 👍
Well done mate, good luck with the job hunting.
How was your experience training ? I’m looking to get into HGV driving in the next few months.
Bus driver here and have been for 5 1/2 years. I’m just going to go straight to class 1 I think as double decker bus is basically a class 2
Yeah mybold company took on a few ex bus drivers and they always seemed to get it alot quicker.
Fancy seeing you here 🤣
Cheers buddy 👋
You're welcome mate hope it helped!
Let me know if there is any other kind of video you would like to see.
Might be doing my class 1 new few weeks i found out they still running the govt bootcamps for hgv in some areas you can find them off the govt website it free to do it you just need a referral from jobcenter thats doing it etc I was suprised there still some providers doing it the nearest one to me is like 2 hours way so ill know next few days if i managed to get on the course....i been driving for a year on class 2 so should be ok
Thats brilliant hope you get it mate, let me know how you get on!
Where abouts is it?
Great video mate, never knew about these before! 😮
Yeah i never used one wither until this video haha
Very informative thanks buddy 👍🏽
No worries mate 👍
Reversing into parking spaces - Take it slow, nice slow movement with good well timed steering, use all the room available, every inch helps, look out your window as well as using mirrors.
On the approach, with the parking space inline with your side windows, full lock the steering wheel away from the space, moving nice n slow, until you see (in the mirrors) the back end of your trailer lining up with the space. Then, straighten up the wheel, and just make small adjustments when backing in.
Most importantly, take as much time as you need, even get out and check if you need to.
It does get easier, the more you do it. Check out my videos for some HGV driving/reversing tips. 😎👍🚛💨
👋 in 🇫🇷🇧🇪🇮🇹 all HGV drivers have a 2yrs training before u get in a truck we start age 19 we do road signs laws loading laws traffic laws all this 1yr 2yr is driven a 10,0000kg truck then move ⬆️ 16,000kg after 1.5yrs last 6 months we move 2 44,0000 kg we r show and do trailer swap loading strap interlock way of surging the pallet and load, trailer safety defect on truck and trailer. I do know how long it take 2 get a C&E in uk but here in Belgium 🇧🇪 it’s A full 2yrs before u drive and vehicle including cars we start at 15 to 17 for this and can drive up to 1 Lt car.
That’s well different to Australia and other parts of the world.
What country is that in?
2 years is a long time
Where are you from and driving in again?
That sounds extremely safe.
Australia is a yahoo country. Why aren't more drivers leaving the country and driving elsewhere?
Mandatory amount of time in each category sounds much more sensible.
I have always wondered why they never teach yoh how to strap up loads here in the uk..
It does seem a bit silly doesn't it?
Which navigation system do you recommend for Truckers? great video Good luck
I use a brand called truck nav, it's good but it doesn't have live traffic or anything it's very basic but I just use Google maps on my phone for traffic.
Im starting a night-trunking job on Class 1 after a break. I dont mind admitting i have first-date nerves and negotiating the pallet-hub.
Well done mate, it's only natural to be a little bit anxious. But you will he fine after a few days! Best of luck mate 👍
How hard is the artic compared to rigid as I have the rigid licence already want to do my artic lessons and hopefully pass the test doing it just to get the licence just for the love of trucks and driving them won't be driving professionally . just to hire out a tractor unit some days and drive it around with the kids one at a time
Driving forward it's easy mate, reversing is the tricky part.
I just recently passed my class 1 with 0 driver faults, but it seems I'm gonna struggle to get a job as EVERYONE demands a minimum of 6 months experience. I've just spent 4 years driving double decker busses, but that doesn't count for anything apparently. Any tips on finding work mate?
Yeah mate it's always a bot of a struggle at first people are reluctant to take a chance on new drivers, I find bizarre but that's how it is.
I did a video on this not so long ago called no experience no job! Check that out might help you.
Can I just ask do you think it’s a good idea to be making a video while you’re driving???
Ive been driving tri axles for 12yrs now. On the open roads and on domestic ie housing schemes but the company i work for are really bad to work for and considering going for my class 1. Is their much difference in class 1 driving wise?
Reversing is the only real big difference, its actually easier around corners than a class 2 as the trailor follows you, where as a ridged has a bigger swing on corners.
@@truckitprayle yes I was behind a hgv and not much tail swing at all. Need to get the theory book and study. Thank you for you're advise.
No worries mate, best of luck!
Thanks for tips mate 👍 ever considered doing ADR ?
Always welcome. Not sure if I missed any though.
Hmm. ADR does sound like a headache but definitely something to consider in the future.
Someone found the Easter egg in this video. Something intentionally done and it was spotted. Did you see any in the last 4 videos?
@truckitprayle thanks mate , nope didn't spot any Easter eggs , will puff the magic dragon and watch again 😉
haha sounds like a great idea mate.
don't forget to keep an eye for them in next videos.
Could you confirm night shift hours please pal, is it a flat 10hr limit if you end up driving within the midnight - 4am slot? Thanks.Lee
It's 10 hours of driving but up to 15 hours of work time you can do in 1 day.
But you can only do 10 hours twice a week after that its 9 hours.
@@truckitprayle ....Cheers brother, just signed up with an agency covering Culina Wakefield, loads of nights available 👍👍🚛
Good luck mate, just be mindfull of road closures doing nights!
@@truckitprayle Cheers Kyle, had a chat yesterday with a regular night driver, said the same but it's usually ok, just to take extra care..park up and check for the low bridges 👍👍
Hello everyone ! I also like to be a Long hual truck driver i dont hv any driving experience AS A TRUCKER bt i do hv normal car driving licence! Is there Any COMPANY WHO WL HIRE N BRING ME TO THEIR NATIVE COUNTRY N GIVE ME A TRUCK DRIVER JOB ? if any body hv any information plz 🙏 do share
Hi bro , i am thinking about doing job in trucking. so, could you let know whether the companies provider sponsorship to new drivers easily or not
Thank u
Don't bother , long hours very poor pay, getting up silly o clock , my advise after 35 years get a apprenticeship plumbing ,electrician etc ,as you will regret it 55 to 60 hours a week as a HGV driver, bed work bed work , another important thing keep away from this industry
