    We own a 2019 MR GLS Premium and have done the bar work, snorkel etc for out off roading. I can certainly say we think the Super Select is just a massive feature. I mention it to friends with other brands and they just don't get it. I guarantee if they had it, they'd be loving it too. We also rate the traction control. Provided (as with all TC) you learn the revs required to use TC effectively, it really has an great TC. We've used the locker once at the back of Lithgow when we first bought it and before I had much experience, otherwise, even on very challenging, wombat hole hills, the right revs and the MR just does it. They are a great ute at the right price. Very reliable and not commanding stupid $ like a Ranger that has issues mechanically and Toyota because they can.

      There’s a lot of hype about the new Ford Ranger which on the whole will appeal to Ford brand loyalists and those that conveniently ignore the reliability issues - I wouldn’t touch a Ranger with a barge pole and Ford’s woeful attitude to customer service - the newer Triton has come along way and you can’t beat better value for money especially that Super Select - I was lucky to get a 2010 Hilux auto in excellent condition just before Covid Jan 2020 for $18k - there’s no way I’m paying over 70k for a new one - Triton/Navara DNA pairing should be interesting.

    Good intelligent and honest review young fellah - refreshing to see one based on the average trekker and not silly rock crawling beer mate scenarios- love the colour and good that you’ve sensibly managed your towing and tray weight - a worry when manufacturers happily push the ads with ‘3.5kg towing capacity’ promos which is just insane, false and very dangerous on the road - yes the Triton rear axle proximity to the cabin, like the previous gen Navara - will be interesting to see if that’s addressed with the new Triton/Navara pairing?

    Good honest review 👏 I don't own a Triton but a Pajero Sport so it has same running gear except for 8 speed auto and it has done 61400 km in 2 and a half years and it hasn't missed a beat. Only thing I found if mitsubishi would of put a 3 core radiator and a larger air inter cooler it would be a awesome tow vehicle in the high country o those hot days.

      We witnessed the Paj Sport getting a hot transmission after a sand dune play on Stockton Beach this last summer with our 4wd club. Our MR Triton didn't have the issue due to the added transmission cooling the ute comes with. Otherwise, the Paj Sport goes very well off road and I'd gladly have one if we didn't want the convenience of the ute tub.

    I've got an MR as well, not long after buying it I got a job that comes with an SR5 Hilux, have to say I prefer the Triton hands down, despite its popularity the Hilux lacks all the features that the Triton has as standard.
    Only complaints, Triton headlights are crap, and I had to upgrade them, the cost to get a spare key cut is insane, $600! for a key! That'd be my only gripes though, they are a great machine.

    Intercooler pipe split is common when high boost pressure is experienced. I fitted a CVS throttle controller to my MQ to tow my 2.7T caravan and after about 6 months developed the split intercooler hose issue. Stay away from those throttle controllers or get a SS intercooler hose instead if you must use them

    • @AdventuringPals
      @AdventuringPals  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I’ve been lucky so far and not had a split hose. But I don’t have a throttle controller either. I did in my MN and split a hose on that. Coming from a MN to the MR I didn’t feel the need for a throttle controller. It was a lot more responsive out of the box.

    I’m curious, I sold mine because mine had the “known” issue of an overheating transmission when towing WELL below the rated maximum. Anyone else had that experience?

      I have not had this happen when towing our 2.2t atm caravan and also been loaded up on the ute. It’s got a factory transmission cooler at least. A didn’t know there is a “known” issue. I’ll have to do a bit of research on this. Thanks.

      @@positivepete4265 hi mate. Total over its life (107000ks) it got around 15l/100k. It was always loaded up to at to between 2.8-3.2 tons and half it’s life towing too.
      When towing we averaged 15-22 depending on speed and wind. And around town it got 13-16 when loaded. In the. Highway when not towing it got down to even 10s with favourable conditions.
      Hope this makes sense and that it helps.
