Why we traded our TRITON for a RANGER
Our 2020 Mitsubishi MR Triton had been a great reliable and very capable work horse of a ute. She had seen us safely do a lap of Australia towing our 2.2t ATM Jayco Expanda caravan. And many camping trips in our ute back camper with a roof top tent. On K’gari aka Fraser Island, across the Simpson Desert, Oodnadatta, Flinders Ranges, and even snow driving in Tassie.
However once we decided to hit the road again full time and wanted to tow our caravan and keep our camper setup at the same time, this proved to be problematic for the tritons as it would be too much weight mainly on the rear axle. After trying to get upgrades to the axle and even exploring adding an extra axle without success, we were left with no choose but to reluctantly trade the triton in for a different car. After exploring our options we settled on what seemed like an obvious choice that ticked all the boxes which is of course the next gen Ford Ranger. With a powerful v6 turbo diesel and on road all wheel drive mode as well as plenty of options for upgrades we are hoping this will be our trusty tourer for some time to come.

Good to see your liking the Ranger, interested to see what your not happy about during the review, I agree on the Landcruiser, for the entry price you can setup an entire vehicle with everything you need, and the no ANCAP rating is because Toyota changed the classification of the vehicle from Light duty to Medium duty so they could get past the requirements as this segment doesn't require the same levels of safety as passenger vehicles, plus you get all the inherent probles that are there from 40 years ago, such as different track width between the front / rear wheels, you still need to spend a bomb to kit it out and put decent suspension on them, they are overpriced like most Toyota's

@@-PORK-CHOP- ah cool. I think most of my concerns are from what I’m seeing happening to other on owners groups with engine issues. It’s a hard one as it’s probably only a minority. And I think I expected a few features to be included (parking sensors for one) that weren’t because I got a cab chassis but all very minor stuff that I should have done better research on. I just took the only car they had available at the dealer at the time so didn’t have much option anyway.

    • @-PORK-CHOP-
      @-PORK-CHOP- Před 2 hodinami

@@AdventuringPals Hey Mate, I don't get why they don't offer parking sensors on Cab models, because if you go somewhere like MRT for a canopy they will relocate everything for you, if they were fitted to the tub model, such as parking sensors, BLIS sensors, Xtraffic sensors, camera, I think they should send the ute with the sensors in a box, and it's up to you to get them attached via your canopy / tray supplier, and the installer just flicks a switch in the service mode to activate them, Especially if Ford sell it as a Cab model, I would assume Ford is sourcing the trays locally, so it's not hard to have these simple mounting positions on the tray ready to go !, I hate it when manufacturers make decisions like that, I love my parking sensors, don't care about a camera but the sensors are indispensable, how do you go with a rear vision mirror, did you fit an electronic rear mirror inside so you can see behind the canopy at all times while driving or reversing ? < I have been sussing out the Wolfbox versions.

It’s got room for one more, get to work young fella,do it for the country. PRICE is it within budget ? Weights look real good for off-road capable 👍👍. Big name brand backing 👍👍. Separate shower and toilet 👍👍. Washing machine 👍👍. All comes back to $$$$. Brides back from England, apart from her taking some other ladies bag from Sydney airport and then having to drive to Bathurst the next day, with them driving from Sydney to meet us halfway, she had the brides bag 😂😂😂to do the swap over. What are the chances of the exact same bag , same colour tags just different names and info 😂😂 the other lady didn’t even realise until my bride rang her . All,s good my end ,wrapped to have her home, three months is long enough without her and we lost her mum and Roxy dog along the way so not without it heartaches. I’ll give her a few days to recover and then we’re on the move heading towards Goomburra for the legends roundup. Stay strong 👁️👁️😎😇❤️🙏🙏

Hi Guys, have you considered second hand vans over new? After Covid was over there was a huge amount of new vans around and now they're being updated or sold off cheap. Maybe see how much bang for your buck you could get in terms of a full off road van only a few years old? Anyway sure you will make the best decision for you.

@@4x4vanintow48 hi mate. I’ve been looking but they still seem to be asking too much for second hand vans, especially for family vans. From what I’ve been seeing for a 2020ish van people are asking more than what the vans were new. There is some good value ones but it’s still more than what we have to spend on a van.
