    Super select is the game changer here. Seems crazy that most 4x4 utes are slip sliding all over wet roads in rear wheel drive.

      Agreed. I bought a Triton for this feature. My first car, a 1993 Pajero had this feature and no way would I go to something from the competition which only offers 2wd on the road. Major oversight in my opinion. Why Mitsubishi doesn't advertise this is beyond me.

    If you can get over the chrome (I personally like the look) the GLS comes with 95% of the tech for alot less and worth the extra $ over the glx+ for the super select.

    Slow steering? It's one of the most direct steering setups on the road and the motor is far from noisy. For a ute the cabin is quiet while while driving and overall handling is more like a car than most of the opposition.

    I own a triton 2019 because it has the best 4x4 system and is the most lightweight ute which makes it much more comfortable even on bad streets! My wish would be a stock raptor like version… 👍❤️

    When you breezed past towing capacities you should have made note of how much payload capacity the 3.5T towers can carry in the vehicle. It's not much, about 250kg. I think the Tron can carry 750 or there abouts at its 3100kgs. Not exactly misleading but not conveying the true story.

    And it is going to be ruined now that it’s been announced that the Triton is going to be a redesigned Navara, so it will have the same unliked Navara chassis and drive train.
    This shows how stupid the Renault/Nissan alliance is, they take the most popular ute they have in their group of brands and dump it and make it be based on the worst ute on the market.
    Renault/Nissan has just handed GWM and LDV the platform to grow to the best of the rest in the ute segment quicker.

  • @curiositykilledthecat1557

    What happened to John Cadogan's review of this review? Despite his irritating manner, when you distil his videos down, he's generally on the money. He highlighted the symbiotic relationship between the car manufacturers and the motoring press. The car manufacturers "launder" their marketing messages through the motoring press who are effectively rewarded with advertising revenue. Nothing new or unique to the motoring industry. We need people like Cadogan as a check and balance to counter the inaccuracies all too common in this manufacturer biased (read funded) message.

    @lionatelier Před 2 lety +4

    A usual wheels critic, no experience driving an 4x4 but he’s the one critiquing it. Huh? What sought of road handling do you need to drive kids to school. It’s usually a 4km max drive on tarmac. Then superselect takes a few moments to work it’s still a mechanical action in the end, this is one of the most accomplished 4wd’s on the market, sorry I think your judgment was made with Trepidation to compare it to SUV’s is pretty foolish it has commercial grade suspension front and rear not at all an SUV.

    Purchased a new Triton in 2021, 22,000km in and already requiring a new timing belt. Told it's not under warranty and will require $600 to replace. An item that should last up to 100,000km, lasting a fifth of its lifespans and not being covered under warranty on a new car is appalling. Service basically told me it's my problem and if I want it replaced I have to pay for it.

      The GWM is definitely a consideration and so is the Ssangyong Musso.The big elephant in the room is the ownership issues affecting the company though it's looking positive in yerms of new suitors.The ultimate XLV can be had with a lot of kit for $43k without any negotiations.You could pick one for just over $40k.At the end of the day it boils down to what one requires out of a ute.Personally the Musso ticks all the boxes.
