ON my JK after wheeling, I used to have to crawl under it and adjust the drag link. It would always change when the suspension got flexed. I used to call it the roadside alignment. The dealership just looked at everything with a scratch and rust on it and saw $$$

You should expose the garage that wanted to do 5k in repairs. If you got a written estimate....let everyone see it.
Thanks for sharing the mishap with the jeep. Wondering what the impact did to the knuckle? Would have been a good time to upgrade to steel knuckles at that price point.
