It was my first year watching Eurovision live but it hasn't aged well, really low-tier year honestly specially compared to 2016 or 2018, and the worst part was that many great and deserving songs got stuck in the semis or got underrated in the final.
There are plenty of examples of this: Sweden got a top 5 with that crap song that relied on threadmills. United Kingdom, France, Belarus, maybe Israel and Ukraine getting underrated as heck in the finale. Finland, Switzerland and Iceland not getting to the finale while Greece, Croatia or Australia (who even got Top 10!) did.
Also, year of the biggest fanwanks: Latvia, Azerbaijan, Estonia or FYR Macedonia come to mind.
Yes, I agree. Many masterpieces were stuck in the semis while generic pop songs finished in high places.
Eurovision 2017 was such a bad year that it’s blank to me, so I had to go through the songs again😅

I gave my personal votes for the ESF songs performed in the Grand Final Show. Very disappointed that Estonia - Koit Toome & Laura - Verona > wasn't chosen for performing the song in the Grand Final Show. Then i gave Estonia (Koit Toome & Laura) 7 points after my personal votes fot the ESF songs from Bulgaria, Belgium & Australia.
also Jana Burceska (F.Y.R. Macedonia) deserved a place in the Grand Final Show.
For me it was the best year ever, a 10/10 for every song !!

I like this year but my problem was and is the studio, (the one's who record, and film the show), when I see Swizterland, UK, Austria, Ireland, and other presentations, they looked like 2007, 2008, or 2009 style (is really drastic the change of the quality of 2017 to 2018) , maybe the fact that Ukraine won in 2016 wasn't the best idea.

I watch ESC since 2016 and I have to admit this was my worst ESC. Not because I disliked it,quite the opposite.
But something was missing compared with all the other years. My favourites were Portugal,Bulgaria and Belgium was my winner. Blanche managed to deliver in a simple and intimate way
It was my favourite and I have watched since 2009 it’s just I feel like all the good songs didn’t qualify :/

The sound mixing was atrocious this year, the reason Portugal did so well was because they were one of the only entries to not be swallowed whole by the soundstage. Along with the fact that is a good song of course.
