    I just got mine, 2020 slightly used. I had a used R1200RS but this is a big step up in terms of power and tech. I love the display and the engine has almost as much get up and go as my 2009 K1300GT inline four. Plenty fast enough for me and has a great ride.

    Recently taken the 2019 1250RS for a short test ride and really enjoyed it but I need more time on the bike so have another test ride planned. I'll vlog that ride as well. Good times indeed!! I can seriously see one in my garage replacing my R1200GS for sure

    Sitting on this bike in the showroom, I immediately felt the weight on my wrists.The slightly canted forward sitting position lends itself to this, however,some bar risers should mitigate this problem.Great review, thank you.👍👍👏👏

    Hellow from the UK. I used to own the 1200RS until it got stolen a few years ago. I loved it to bits, but there were a few things I would still have to change on the 1250. On my test ride of the 1250RS I found I was getting shoulder ache from the slight lean forward position, so bar risers for me would be a must. Plus I'd change the position of the satnav. I do a lot of tours so if I put a tank bag on this it would block the view of the satnav. Good things I found were the engine is superb, the seat is still very comfortable and the screen gives smooth air over my helmet (but then I'm only 5.6"), plus the mirrors give a good view of the rear. But I think I'll stick to my GS1250.

    What is the riders geometry on the RS versus the R? Leaning towards the R as I like the naked sport bike look. But probably get better wind protection on the RS. I just do not want to be leaning too far forward on the RS.

    Price with fixins is $21k, so a bit more than the RS. I’m gonna guess and say I’m more suited with RS. Type of riding I do, etc. frankly, I wish I’d never sold my K13GT. I loved that bike. A real beast. I’d be curious to test ride XR vs a few others tho. Glad that M chain is on S bikes now. I wonder if it will work the way bmw says. My problem is once i fixate I’m in trouble. Not sure how I missed this great review? If you monitor comments on older videos I'd be really interested in your opinion of the pure riding experience of the R1250RS compared to your RNineT racer? Obviously the RS must be a more practical bike but do you feel the extra 26hp ? Also, the exhaust sound to me is an important part of riding and I don't think that the water cooled engine sounds anything like as good as the oil-head.

      I suggest getting an aftermarket screen. The two height adjustments can be more moot by doing so (although it should have electronic adjust). AeroFlow makes the best for these bikes in my view and I’ve had one on a 1300GT, 1600Gt and RS. Variety of heights available and you can also add side deflectors. Sport and Touring, each has 3-4 sizes. Pricey but well worth it

  • @bernhtp
    @bernhtp Pƙed 4 lety

    It looks like a big improvement, but I'm trying to figure out its sport-touring place next to the wholly-new 2020 S1000XR. The XR provides (much) more power and nimbler, lighter weight along with a more upright position for longer-day comfort. I get that some traditionalists like the RS boxer with its shaft, and maybe prefer the sportier position (especially for shorter riders), but I greatly prefer the XR over the RS when I rent in Europe. The S1000 engine excites me in ways a boxer can't.

      @@CaliMotoTV But the same guys have a fetish for fat women.

    • @your_royal_highness
      @your_royal_highness Pƙed 3 lety

      I’m know the suspension is very different between XR and R, as I had the latter and it rode like a brick. The RS with the right screen setup (I mentioned AeroFlow elsewhere) and the fairing does a much better job of wind protection than the XR. Better overall road manners, too in my opinion- but to each their own. That’s why there’s so many choices! For me, I’d take a Multistrada over the XR probably. XR just never fit me.

    • @bernhtp
      @bernhtp Pƙed 3 lety

      @@your_royal_highness Are you talking about the new S1000XR or the previous one? The new one has a larger and improved windscreen and airflow. I just don't consider the RS' boxer to be a sporty contender for the XR's supersport-derived 4.
      I've been on the Multi 1260 S and the new XR, but my experience with the Multi is old. Lookup Schaaf on CZcams, who's reviewed both recently.

    • @your_royal_highness
      @your_royal_highness Pƙed 3 lety

      Nope I haven’t been on the new XR. I’m also happier with shaft drive and lower seating position of the RS. Haven’t ridden an XR in quite awhile. I don’t doubt what you’re saying and yes the XR has tremendous get up and go. I thought the 1260S was a screamer. i think the RS is in its own category. I did think about the F900XR but it seemed cramped and is probably underpowered. The ilium works bar riders are great. Very comfortable riding position. Next time I get the urge I’ll go sit on the S1kXR

    • @bernhtp
      @bernhtp Pƙed 3 lety

      @@your_royal_highness The new XR is significantly improved.
      There are advantages to the shaft - I recently owned the excellent K1300S - but they are disappearing.
      BMW just announced the M Endurance chain, which uses a revolutionary internal lubricant that eliminates chain maintenance - no lube nor adjustment necessary. Shaft weigh a bunch more and rob power. The new XR has the M Endurance Chain as an option. I think it costs $400 to buy.

    Ive been riding all kinds of motorcycles long and hard for fifty years and, except for one feature, this is the bike I want to complete my riding experiences. And, that feature? Money. Hey . . . I’m not broke, not even close. But the price approaches obscene. Oh, the basic offering is decent, but once I added the “packages” pretty much anyone would want (and actually makes the bike special) - holy crap! Add to that taxes, dealer fees and I’m left to ask: Who can actually afford the bike and ride it as it was meant to be ridden? Sigh . . . not me.

You can get a loaded 2016 1200RS now with hard bags for $11k and very few miles. Check out Cycletrader. Where I live there’s no sales tax on a private sale so that’s a bonus to potentially consider.
