    Can’t agree more…I bought my ‘20 R1250R in the Spring of ‘20, and the three riding seasons I’ve had with it have been the most satisfying of all the decades I’ve been riding. Fantastic bike - performance, power, handling, tech, etc. - for me, I can’t think of a better bike available on the market.

      I have the R1250R too bought in Spring '21. I wondered if the RS would have been better for buffeting. Sounds not. I did the sport bars on my R1250R and the Wunderlich Marathon screen and deflector, so the buffeting is pretty much gone for me.

    Great video. I bought a 2023 RS in early-June. Here I am, at the end of August, and I still haven't gotten to my break-in service. I'm old and I simply refuse to ride when the sun is high and it's 90+ degrees. I've owned sixteen motorcycles over the past 50 years, including nine new ones. My last new bike was a 1986 GSXR750 (I told you - I'm old). This BMW blows away anything and everything that I've ever ridden. All of the technology freaked me out at first. So I opted for the seven-year extended warranty. Learning all of the controls was somewhat intimidating, but it doesn't take long at all to learn the basics. For an old geezer who still loves a bike with a lot of punch, you can't beat this machine. It always gets thumbs-ups and compliments at the gas station, too.

      Couldn't agree more on the RS. It is an awesome bike. In my latest video, "BMW DEMO DAY - I test rode a S 1000 RR, R 1250 RT and S 1000 XR", I came to realize how much I love my RS. Those other three bikes were great fun and serve different purposes for different people and situations, but the RS fits my needs perfectly. As for being old, if you are still cruising around on "Two Tires", you ain't old yet. I was 17 when the 1986 GSXR 750 was out. Actually one of my friends had the blue and white color scheme. Thanks for watching my video and commenting. Hopefully you saw it in your heart to subscribe to my channel to help me reach the 1,000 subscriber mark. At that point, google will begin sharing ad revenue with me, which hopefully equals a free tank of gas per month...hahahaha. I'm certainly not going to get rich off of this, but a little bit of coin will help me justify all the time I spend filming and editing these videos.

    Hi, Your comment regarding not feeling any difference between Dynamic and Dynamic Pro is because there isn’t when delivered for the factory. Dynamic Pro is for User-specific settings for the riding mode (for the R1200RS it was labelled USER). It allows you to change the throttle response for the engine (Dynamic, Road, Rain) and the DTC response (Dynamic, Road, Rain) to any combination you want. It comes from the factory pre-set to Engine: Dynamic, DTC: Dynamic. So, unless you have not gone into vehicle settings since you’re had the bike and changed things, Dynamic and Dynamic Pro riding modes are the same.
    I believe BMW has caused confusion calling the User-specific setting Dynamic Pro on the 1250 and not USER as on the 1200. No review have I read or viewed has stated that Dynamic Pro settings can be changed by the owner, all appear to think it’s another level up from Dynamic even though some reviewers have stated they have not notice any difference changing from Dynamic to Dynamic Pro riding mode.

    Just checking back in, and thrilled you are ever enthusiastic about the RS! It is looking very sharp. I think I too have to get that Puig dark screen - but will have to tolerate the abomination of the muffler for now. And like you, after having two Triumphs, a small GS, and older RT and a new RNineT ..... I am VERY content with the machine. It ticks all the boxes, power, stability, great looks, brilliant Boxer and tech. I also really like that it is rare, I have only seen one other in my city. Hope you have an awesome year of riding!

    Thanks for the review. I bought mine new in 2022 - I love it. I've put a rear mudguard on and swapped the bars for the Wunderlich ones that bring them up and back. For me, well worth doing.

    After three GSs, the last a 2019 GSA, I got tired of the height and weight so I moved to a Multistrada V2S. Great bike but I think the next choice is a RS, miss the torque and the seat height would suit my little legs….great summary.👍

    I have had the RS model since 2015 (1200 then 1250) Changes I have made: Speed bleeders; Hornig front turn signals, dual FIAMM horns (with relay); GPS relocation to above TFT (including extension loom); Magura (pivoting) levers, USB charger & magnetic mount for remote door opener (set into infill panel of fairing); second remote set into steering head (replacing BMW rondel) Corbin saddle; Givi tank bag(s); Akropovic; BMW top box and panniers; SAE pigtail under seat (with charger adaptor) to power air compressor. Mount for Sena headset control (horizontal on left fork cap), X-heads, Mudsling and common keyed helmet lock.
    The 1250 corrected 2 shortfalls of the 1200 - instruments and headlights. It also has a raft of improvements apart from the vastly improved motor (which was absolutely fine until I rode the 1250!)

      @@Texas2Tires I am now 73, but I ride daily. The climate in Melbourne Australia is very good for bikes. Unless I "deck" the RS, it will stay. My previous R1100 S was with me for 15 years. Before then, the majority of my bikes were Yamahas for 30 years. Best non-BMW? TRX 850

    Mine is a 2022 build in light white with the red frame accents. It came with an Akrapovic muffler and all the bells and whistles. I did take the plunge and order the luggage pack which gets fitted next week. Nice thing is the panniers and top box are demountable so I'll only use them on long trips. I've only done 1000klms on it so it's due its first service which I;ll get done when the bags go on. So for I'm in love and I reckon I'll be buried with this one or it's successor

    One of the later big brands to bringing a color TFT to its bikes, BMW came out with what was widely considered the best and still leads most competitors. Ducati has stepped up their focus in this area and the very latest units are excellent. Nobody else has the handlebar-mounted wheel, and I think that's what really sets the whole system apart.
    Only issue I encounter with it now is deciding between pairing my Cardo directly to my bike so I can get TFT-controlled media and phone, or pairing it to my phone, so it talks to the app and buttons on the face of the device can control media playback. Wish I could get everything to work at once.
    Either a tire hugger or something like a MachineartMoto MudSling. I bought my bike used and the original owner put a MudSling on and while I thought I might want to take it off and put a CF hugger on instead, I like the look of the naked rear tire and have kept it as is so far.
    Engine -- yup. The 1250 Shiftcam is magnificent. Such wonderful torque down low while also putting out decent power up top; it doesn't have superbike speeds but within the realm of sport touring it gushes power where needed. More torque at idle than most do at whatever their peaks are. Such a pleasure, and with an Akra the burbling downshifts are like little German angels singing.
    Outstanding bikes we have. May we al treat each other very well and for as long as possible!

      Thank you for checking out the video and for the wonderful comment! I went with the hugger because the tire mud sling I looked at used tie wraps to secure it and I wasn’t thrilled with that idea.

    Good review. I had mine for two years and loved every moment with it. Only parted as got tempted by a cracking deal on a Kawasaki H2 SX- but will miss the RS

      Thank you for the kudos, appreciate it. I attended the BMW DEMO Days ride yesterday. My local BMW dealer also sells Triumph and all the Japanese metric bikes. They had a used H2 for $23k. A guy I know in Austin has one and said it's a scary machine. Be safe, thanks again for tuning in.

      @@Texas2Tires - still running mine in. So I think the ‘scary’ part will come after the first service!. Low down torque is surprisingly good for a 4 cylinder though…..and buttery smooth.

    Found your channel on TikTok. Love your content. I’m really conflicted. Rt vs rs. Money not a factor. Girlfriend might want to ride… but no garuntee… I will do long distance… but afraid the rt willl be boring to ride. Ugh.

      Thanks for checking out the channel and commenting. The RT is going to be more comfortable for long-haul rides. The engine and performance of the RT is basically the same as the RS. However, with the extra weight from the faring it’s probably a little bit slower off the starting line. Having recently test rode the RT. I can say that it is not nearly as flickable that front fairing is quite heavy. The RT has great wind protection, which is better for long-haul, but in high temperatures, the lack of wind can be hot. The new RT has that amazing 10.5 inch TFT which is awesome. The seating position is definitely more comfortable on the RT for both rider and passenger. I feel my RS is quite comfortable, but longer than 2 hours straight in the saddle can be a challenge to my back. Have you given both bikes a good test ride? If your girlfriend is going to ride and the rides will be long distance; I would definitely go with the RT. The choice also depends on your age and back situation. If you’re younger and have no issues with your back and want a sportier looking bike go with the RS. I know my answer is kind of all over the place, but hopefully it has been helpful. Make sure you test both and later let me know what you decide. Good luck with your decision.

    I know tires are very subjective but I really love the Conti road attacks on my 2020 R1250RS

      Thanks for your insights. I think there are a few measures to judge a tire. How long does it last, How well does it grip when it’s on its side and how well does it hold the road in the wet. I don’t ride on a track or lean over too aggressively nor do I ride in the rain, so hard for me to judge my tires in these regards. My stock metzlers lasted11k miles. My Road 6s are now on 9k miles with no cupping and a decent amount of tread left. I’m guessing they’ll also last 11k miles. So I judge tires mostly based on other people’s reviews that do ride in the wet and lean their bikes over past 36 degrees on a regular basis.

    Thank you for the excellent review. I test rode a 1250 RS, GS, and RT back to back yesterday at Daytona Bike Week at BMW's demo ride event. The RS was the most fun and I liked everything about it except for the wind buffeting. If I lowered my torso and head about 5 inches, the air turbulence got much better. I am curious how much that deflector helps? Did it eliminate all the buffeting at highway speeds or only a fraction. I see that Aeroflow has an aftermarket windshield and there are others, too. I just don't want to spend over $20k and not be able to get clean air over my helmet. Thanks.

      Thanks for checking out the channel. I’m glad you enjoyed it. The windshield extender cuts out quite a bit of wind and has completely eliminated the buffeting for me. I guess it really depends on how tall you are especially torso height.

    If you make it out to West Texas, stop by. I have a 2022 1250R same color but 719 options and I customized the seat. Love the blacked out look but you’re accenting it like I am. You’re using red. I’m using dark cognac brown.

    I rode this bike and like it all except the having to crane my neck back to see ahead. With some bar risers this could be the perfect bike. The models prior to this gave you a more upright seating position. I’m old and my neck hurts.😂

      Very true lots of people put bar risers on this bike, which is more comfortable. I don’t have them because I like the sporty look and I typically ride 1-3 hours, which is OK for my neck / back. The BMw S1000XR would be a better option for you. What are you riding now?

    I've been looking for a rear hugger for the 2023 1250RS. Some websites say the hugger is the same for the 1200/1250R and RS alike and other say no. Do you know if there is any difference?

      Should be the same. But best to check with manufacturer first. My is a puig. I like it looks good on the bike.

      Thanks for checking out the video and commenting. I appreciate it. The screen is fine occasionally if I don’t care about the wind flow, I take the windshield extender off. It’s very easy to remove and put back on. It just has four Allen screws. The quick shifter is very smooth especially from third gear to sixth gear going up or down. From first gear to second and 2nd to 3rd can be a little bit more challenging and occasionally lurch or jerk the bike forward.

    Actually I don't like the screen on my BMW. Give us more informations on the "home" screen, BMW ! At a glance, I want to see the battery voltage and, most of all, the engine temperature !

    So I rode the naked version of this bike, r1250r, a couple of weeks ago. I have a couple of Triumphs today, Tiger Sport 660 and Bonnie T120, and both have their own unique engines, Triple and PTwin 270 degrees, respectively. The Triple is nan awesome rush of power near the top end with good torque and the PTwin is torquey with decent hp. Maybe it's just me, but I found the boxer engine to be a bit boring. Very smooth/linear with a sound from the stock can that sounded more like someone farting in a bathtub than a 1250 cc motorcycle. Does this engine have character that I'm missing? Does it change with time?

      Thanks for checking out the video and commenting. The stock sound isn’t great sounds like a sewing machine. Pipe, headers or other manipulation of the exhaust can improve it. However it’s not going to sound as good as an in-line four or some other engine configurations. Where the new boxer engine shines is in its low end torque and its shift-cam engine. Also all the non-performance related technology including the amazing TFT, quick shifter, hill start assist, auto suspension, on the fly ride mode and suspension adjustments etc. Four of my riding friends have Triumphs and love them. They also sound great with the right after market pipes. Unfortunately I can’t really answer your question completely as I’ve never had the pleasure of test riding a Triumph. The riding modes make a big difference from rain to dynamic pro. Hopefully you had the mode set to dynamic pro and not road. I test rode the BMW R18 and thought it was a slug. However I noticed that I was in the “Roll” mode not “Rock”. After switching I could feel the torque from those huge cylinders.

      Thanks for checking out the video, appreciate it. I'm 5'8" (172.72cm). Risers would certainly make the riding position more comfortable. However, I don't like the look it gives the bike. I enjoy the sporty look with the pseudo clip-ons. Also I've become very comfortable with the bike and use my core and legs more then leaning on the handlebars. Occasionally I forget and find myself leaning too much as well as my shoulders rolling forward. I just simply remind myself to relax and drop the shoulders, squeeze with my legs and the position is very comfortable again.

      Thanks it was a super cheap solution and sits low on the seat. Other bags I looked at were too big for what I needed and wanted in a seat bag.

      R1250RS owner as well. Low CofG boxer engines lend them selves to excellent low speed manoueverability, crawling fully loaded on tour around the narrow S bend roads and hills of the Amalfi coast in heavy traffic was easy as were alpine mountain roads with cobblestone surface rough S bends. On some European highways long distances at 130+ mph is easily maintained with great stability.
      6'5'' inseam 34/35 inch.
      Winderlich high seat and givi high screen.
      Low seat works for 5'7'' friend.
      Over to T2T for his 10cents worth 😉

      Thanks for checking out the video and commenting. My inseam is about 30 inches. With my KLIM Outlander GTX riding boots I can flat foot the bike. The boxer engine sits low on the bike so really stable. Slow speeds U-Turns no problems.

    is the engine water-cooled?

      It is both air and liquid cooled. The boxer is unique in that the cylinder heads are sticking out in the wind, so the engine gets good air flow and cooling and with the liquid coolant the engine runs on the cooler side especially when compared to a big V-Twin.

      @@Nickbaldeagle02 I’m not sure about earlier models, but mine, (2020), is air and liquid cooled using non-toxic glycol-based coolant designed for aluminum engines. The coolant reservoir is under the fuel tank just behind the forks.
