R1250RS owner here. I bought it as a daily commuter/touring have covered 3500 miles I didn't want a GS for the larger size, higher price and everyone has one. Kickstand is perfectly OK. I love the fact it's low to the ground after a SuperdukeR. Tank range for commuting is 190miles on a run an easy 200+. I put a taller screen on mine because of wind buffering it was deafening now it's silent. It's just beautiful to ride, all day in total comfort.
What screen did you put on?
@@TimWigan Puig Touring plus I can ride at any speed visor up no wind buffering at all. The original for my height at least (5'9) was just way to noisy.
@ 195cm tall I have a higher screen. Sorry but the GS/GSA is not a nice bike in comparison. The RS will carry as much and as 99%of the time is Io buitumen there's zero need for GS and it'll cope with the odd dirt track. đ
With a full complement of RS Exclusive extras and a couple of extra comfort parts it's as pricy as a GS/A and username Kate your pretty clueless on bike handling, and your road riding lines are not good đ
@@Roger101Watson - Thanks for your comment. Iâm 1.76m so about 1/4â taller than you and found the same with the stock screen. So I bought the MRA vario screen as that had worked well on my old 1200GS but that wasnât tall enough either. So then I was torn between the Givi and the Puig screen which Iâm guessing you have. I believe theyâre both the same height but the Givi is slightly wider so I went for that. It has stopped the direct wind blast so I can ride at 75 mph with an open helmet but there is still buffeting and also for the pillion. As you are reporting neither, then perhaps the Puig has a different shape which then prevents buffeting?
I also fitted some AliExpress bar risers, 2 cm higher and 2 cm back, which I found helped with overall comfort. Although I still miss the sit up and beg position of the GS. What are your experiences?
Stupid question, but what's it like in the rain? I was looking at a 1200rs(I have a gsa and I'm not keen on it) but was worried that a sports tourer wouldn't be that suited for all year riding. Then thought maybe just buy the 1200RS for summer touring and a cheaper 1000 V strom for the colder tours. Woukd love to get your feedback.
Cheers
Its fantastic to see and hear a lady talk about a bike for 35 mins and not run out of things to talk about. You got some serious skills Kate.đ
Well done Kate that is actually really sound advise and a pretty solid technical base. I'm well impressed keep doing this. Thanks.
I'm owner of a R1250RS for a few months now. It's a real good bike and I'm loving the rides with this fellow 100%! If a GS is not your thing because of the hight than the RS is a great alternatif. The color of my bike is Brown bronse 719 style.
How you like that bike? Iâm thinking of getting that exact one..bronze 719âŠ
@@claytonsorensen1596 hello Clayton, before buying the RS I have tested a lot of other simular bikes. For me the RS was the best bike over all. Especially the torque capacity and maneuverability and running line of the bike is fantastic. In the meantime I made some adjustments. Such as a higher windshield, risers, lowered foot pedals placed in front of the passenger, this from the brand Wunderlich. In addition, an extra mudguard on the rear wheel.
73 years old had my exclusive 8 months average speed 65 fuel consumption 63 to the gallon last 4 bikes were blackbirds trashed front tyre in 4000 miles had 30 Plus bikes this bike is head and shoulders above all other bikes the narrow seat helps us shorties tony Haynes
Thanks for your review. Just got my R1250RS earlier this week and your review was one of the things that went into my decision process. Itâs an absolutely brilliant bike. So far when filtering in heavy traffic I just think like a cop - calm progress. I donât mind scooters whizzing past me - Iâm not trying to keep up with anyone. The boxer engine is awesome: very civilised at low speed, can push on in any gear and really accelerate when you want it to. The standard seat height is completely fine for me (and Iâm tall) - Iâm a returning biker and as soon as I sat on it, it felt like home. The side stand *is* sometimes a bit vertical - so I do find myself parking it on the centre stand if Iâm parking at an angle where the camber of the road isnât helping me.
Had an RT, a GSA and now an RS. Also had Ducatis, a Honda fireblade, aprilia rsvr milleâs, a ktm, gpz kwacker, guzzi v50, and loads more bikes over 40 years riding. Iâm genuinely surprised to be saying this but the R1200RS sport I now own is the best all rounder Iâve ever owned or ridden. Handles fabulously, is comfy and genuinely flickable although not sports bike-esque, it handles and is planted. Power on the 1200 is more than ample. Sidestand is fine, no problems at all with mine.
Screens are rubbish like all bmw screens. Why do they not learn and improve them?. The best screen compromise on these is the MRA vario x screen. Wunderlich marathon is ok but MRA looks and performs better.
I agree if buying one buy the bells snd whistles version or youâll kick yourself. To those looking for one, donât beat yourself up about a 1200 over a 1250. Thereâs so little difference in real world riding between them. Fit a remus end can and the 1200 is roughly similar through the mids.
Great bikes, hugely under rated. Personally I find them more comfortable and more sporty than the GS as well as more refined thanks to different gearing and revised driveshaft damping. Buttery smooth. Ride one and youâll never look at another bike. This does it all effortlessly. Fit a mudslinger and crud catcher as theyâre a must.
Great review. Thanks Kate. I have had my 1250 GS Exclusive for 12 months and I absolutely love it. I can identify with what you said about responsiveness.
You are awesome! So glad you posted this! This helps so much especially knowing we are the same height. I have a very(very!) LOVED 2005 R1200ST which I demoed at a rally and bought one shortly after returning home. I have a hard time finding a newer bike that suits my riding preferences. So excited! I will also say I can never say never as I also tried the Street Triple, that might have to find a place in the garage as well....
I totally agree I put Michelin rd 4âs on my old gsa handled like a dream đ
Nice to see someone doing a vid up near my neck of the woods, standish and some of the roads I ride.
I've been riding a 1250RS for a few months now. Absolutely love it!!! That flat twin engine / low centre of gravity makes it both stable and easy to manoeuvre so it inspires confidence at all speeds.
Hi Chris - one of my concerns having had a z1000xs is low speed stability. The rs is 240kg so is this ok around the car park?
@@billsnell1481 well I haven't ridden a Z1000XS so I can't compare but I find the RS feels particularly good at low speeds / first gear stuff. I am sure it is due to the engine layout giving it a low centre of gravity. It doesn't feel like a heavy bike at all. I have just one criticism of the whole bike - I think the side stand is slightly too long so it feels as though it would be easy to tip over when left on the side stand. Having said that I haven't actually tipped it over so maybe I'm worrying about nothing!!
Thanks Chris. Iâll definitely be going for a test ride.
Never get tired of your reviews Kate!
Lovely review, Kate. It has definitely given me something to think about before my trip to BMW next month.
Thanks a bunch for the video. I was keen on buying a R 1250 RS, so watching your video helped a lot in my purchase decision. It was delivered to me last week. So far I'm loving it. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Good vid, I was just about to book a test ride the day before lockdown at my local dealer on a R1250R, I'm looking forward to your look at that one, Great work keep them coming
I bought a used 2020 R1250RS in November of 2020. Yes, used and it only had 360 miles on it. I"ve put over 4000 on it over the last year and it's great. I love it.
You make me feel at home listening to a nothern lass..
I totally agree with your opinion between the RS and GS. I only ride on road. I love the riding position and flick-ability of my R1250GS and plan on putting on sticker road only tires when the stock ones wear out.
Hi Kate, purchased a slightly used 1200rs last year on the west coast and rode it cross country back to New Jersey. Added a larger windshield and risers for comfort. My RT is more comfortable on the interstate but very disappointing in the twisties as the weight and size is a handful. My old K1200RS has a wonderful engine but very top heavy and tried to high side me into oblivion last year. Something I said to her no doubt. Rented a GS a few times to tour out west. Huge bike that probably sells due to image. Picked an 800gs on a tour of the Alps. Nasty oversized front wheel won't turn, very disappointing. Tried the XR and the blasted thing almost cooked my legs, poor gas millage and the engine felt like it was filled with marbles, very vibey. My old K1200RS engine puts that engine to shame.Very happy with the 1200RS, personally I feel it's the most overlooked BMW in their line-up. And happy to host you and a few friends if you want to tour across the pond!
Nice to see honest comments on the various models.....
Hey Kate! I totally agree with you after having my 1st GS1250 in November
I was going to get the GSA, but chose the GS because more practicality and not wanting to carry that additional weight
The low and behold after writing my GS right now it's got 3200 miles on it, that bike is the most nimble and fun Motorcycle that I've ever owned, and I've been writing since 72
It can be the sportiest when I go around the twisties of the local mountains in Southern California, or like 3 weeks ago when I took a 5 day ride through Arizona and some of the back roads and I moto camped, it's the most versatile motorcycle ever!
Thank you for your rambling, haha, but it was all good!
Keep safe and keep the videos coming and I know this was an old one but I just found your channel this morning
Love it. Beautiful, comfortable, good performance, good fuel economy.
Thank you for the video, considering getting my 1st BMW bike (from a GSXR600), helped me a lot đđ»đ
No doubt youâre a biker and give us genuine good info on your reviews. Keep it up Kate.
Great review Kate. That accent just keeps me coming back. Itâs a pleasure to listen toođ
I think I sound sleepy in this haha, thats because I was! đ« glad someone likes my common as muck accent haha!
Itâs delightful!
Yeah, nice sexy British accent and she rides well
Fun review thanks Kate. Really fancy the boxer engine for next bike (currently on F750GS). I don't go off-road but suspect the GS will be better option for comfort and wind/weather protection. Riding in Scotland it's always pissing rain and windy so this is a major consideration. Cheers.
Nice video, honest introduction ;) I love this 1250RS and hope to own one sometime. Thank you for the test !
Iâve had my RS for 20 months now & put 12,000 miles on her, great mile munching machine.. It is low & cramped though for even an averaged height rider like myself, thatâs why I have now fitted the sports high seat (finally) makes such a difference - long rides/tours are now much easier on the knees! It does sit up very straight on the side stand your right, but there is a way round that also if you have the electronic suspension fitted, (like on your test bike) I keep mine in the ârider with luggageâ setting suspension mode, which raises the bike up a little more, so you then get more of a lean on the stand, if you then pop it in dynamic it will rise up even more on top of that, for yet more lean on those off camber roads that you may need to park on. As for fuel economy I got 57mpg av (or 225 miles per 18L tank full) on a 2,500 mile Tour I did last year. Even if I go out for some very enthusiastic scratching the worst it averages is 47mpg. This bike hustles so well in the twistyâs, I donât have any chicken strips at all on my rear tyre!.. Iâm putting off the GS as a potential next option for the simple reason every man & his dog has one, you donât see that many RSâs about really, I like the more exclusive feel of riding a bike you donât come across often out on the road... Sounds absolutely fabulous (and looks way better) with an aftermarket LeoVince silencer too đđ»
I have had a R1250 RS exclusive with all the toys since September. It is so much fun to ride, thanks to the shift cam engine. It is best in the high speed twisties and as well as I motorway hike. You are so right about the side stand being to vertical so have to think when you park.
I would have these over the GS anyday i prefer the looks more my style
Good to have you back Kate! Great review of the BMW. Awesome tourer bike for sure. Cheers from the U.S.
I appreciate that DB!! Thanks. Ride safe over there!
Certainly seems powerful enough! Great video đđ»
Hi Kate, good informative video, thank you. Iâve owned four 1200 GSâS two with lowered suspensions. I have to agree that they are more than flickable, I enjoyed them all. The last one I traded in with yourselves for a R1200RS ICONIC. I know itâs not the 1250 but everyone is aware that the engine is an improvement over the 1200. That being said , other than the new TF dash , I have most of the modes and upgrades as the one you rode. I have been round the coast of Ireland on it twice, to my sisters in Seron Spain (via the euro tunnel and France) twice and a tour round France as well. One of the trips to Spain was a return journey of 3260 miles. Outward we had two overnight stops and rode the trip in three days, relaxed for four days and the return was over two and a half days. Bit long winded I know but this is an example of the bikes real capabilities, it eats the miles quickly and it has the best and most comfortable seat of any bike Iâve ever owned! My GS on a trip to France left me with a numb backside and groin cramps but I never could get truly comfortable on any of them. Chassis wise I have had no problems, engine I had a slight water leak from the pump, and some of the paint started to crack , dealt with by Williams with no questions and to my satisfaction. I donât know if the 1250 is the same but my engine took a lot of miles to be free itâs now running beautifully, itâs always been good but now it just wants to go. Iâm 5â 7â and have short legs 29â I fitted Wunderlich bar risers and that made the fit perfect for me and I get the balls of both feet on the ground at a stop. It is heavy and with the boxer motor itâs always going to be but itâs only ever a problem turning it round in my garage , thatâs a small price to pay for what I consider to be the best sports tourer I have owned and ridden.
Hi Stephen, useful post. I've always liked adventure style but don't go offroad. Had a CB500X, now have F750GS, but I'm drawn to this for my next bike rater than a GS. Seat comfort and wind noise reduction very important to me. I have tinnitus so want to protect my hearing as much as possible but I believe there are good after-market screens for this bike (I have a Givi airlfow with an extender on my F750GS). Test-riding later this week. Feel I have to ride the Kawa Z1000SX too, ÂŁ5K price difference makes it worth a test ride. Cheers
Gary Sutherland the Kawa is a lot of bike for the money and has a bulletproof engine, good luck whatever you choose
Thanks for the review. Will definitely be my next bike. Love the accent!
Hi Kate, good review. The RS has a place in my heart ever since I borrowed a demo bike when my RT went in for some warranty work. Being shorty I found the ergonomics suited me better than the RT. Though there's not a lot of difference from the RT with it's seat on the low setting, the width of the seat on the RT robs you of a little leg length.
Regarding residuals though, I found the "bells & whistles" do not provide added value when you com to sell. The extras on my RT were dismissed almost with a wave of the hand and made little difference when I traded it in. My advice therefore would be to spec the bike how you want it and enjoy the extras - just don't expect to get your money back.
Hey, just caught your first live stream recording. Good stuff. Seems we both walked away with the same souvenir. Have a plate on my right clavicle and made the same choice not to have it removed just yet. One side says to me it actually adds structural integrity while the other says yes but what if you have another fall? All's good for now though. Maybe once Covid has passed.
Basically to have been blessed in the walking away part and capable to continue with such a passion is amazing. 10 broken ribs, punctured lung and yep....left wrist worked on ....just keep flowing the Adventure with Challenges all wrapped up in a beautiful Mystery to me and I'm good with it All.
Glad to hear you mention Teapotone I follow him as well.
Be Well
Stay Safe
As I'm in the process of purchasing the R1250 RS, and this video came to mind. Upon revisiting it, I was delighted by the clarity with which you explained why one might choose the R1250RS over the GS. Kate, to the best of my knowledge, you were the first person I've encountered who articulated the differences between these bikes in such a straightforward manner, great jobđ.
I wholeheartedly agree with your insightsđ€©, particularly regarding the significance of factors like rake and wheelbase, which truly distinguish the riding experiences offered by these two models. Your ability to convey this information is commendable, and I want to express my appreciation for your hard work.
Keep up the excellent work, and please continue to provide the valuable insights that enthusiasts like myself crave. Thank you for your dedication and for sharing your expertiseđ„
Enjoyed the review. Good value statements and application insight. Nice selection. Just had me and my ride (R1250R HP 2020) taken out while traversing through a roundabout on Vancouver Island by a BIG Blue VW Van. Have already ordered my replacement Journey partner ...the 2021 BMW R1250GS Black Storm (Triple Black) fully loaded. Should be an Amazing year ahead.
Cheers,
PG
I have a 16 rs bought new luv it. Thx for the vid. Good review and your pleasant voice.
Great review Kate, and thanks for your advice about the GSâs on-road abilities. Tell you what, I love that colour - if BMW made a GS in Ostentatious Yellow, Iâd have one in a heartbeat.
I can only agree with you and the RS is pleasantly quiet while driving
Hi Kate. I have an RS & added helibar riaers to it & it changed the handling. The steering has gone so much lighter & responsive.
My fav bike to ride whenever I have a demo is a 1250 gsa & I love the way the bike is so flickable with its comfy bar position & I'm so pleased I've nearly got that now with my risers as they lift & sit you up a bit more. Only took 15 mins to fit so will be quick to change back for my next trackday. Great review Kate.
Did the Helibars fit with the standard brake and clutch cables or did they have to be replaced/modified?
Many thanks.
StreetFighter V-4S is PHENOMENAL!!! DUCATI has been on a roll!! I have had 0 issues with any of my recent Ducatiâs !! Ducati is the complete package!!!
I'd love to ride one of those badboys.
Kate, I have both an RT and an RS. After being off a bike for nearly 20 years, I bought an RT, something I had been dreaming about for decades, then quickly finding I was over my head. I bought an RS to get some seat time that has helped me get used to the RT. I use my RS around town, and the RT for touring. Something I never would have done without the confidence I got on the RS. It just does everything a person could want. Nothing stupid.
Also returning rider (at 70) after totalling an Rt on A deer at 100KPH. The Rs for Me represents what i wanted to ficx on the Rt...1: Get rid fo the bulk ...lose some weight...lose the car mirrors. keep ability to carry pillion and luggage. and lose some fot eh magnificient windprotection but still get sufficent wind coverage to be comfy on long distance higway travel.
Cracking good video, gotta love that austin yellow metallic matt.
Great review, bought the Austin yellow sport and I love it. Great machine. Can't find a single thing to complain about except the lack of time to ride more. Love the accent.
Have you had the ticking issue with the Left cylinder head that so many have complained about ?
I just got myself one of the same color and IÂŽm loving it!
Just drove mine home from the dealership yesterday. I'm going to get a dozen tickets on this thing or worse. Filtering as you guys put is effortless compared to my wethead RT. I bought this because after 5yrs on the RT I only took one really long trip or commuted. Never really rode it just for fun but I'm thinking I will on the RS.
I'm in the market for something BMW with the boxer, on road only and your comparison between the RS and GS is super helpful. Thanks heaps for your review, your a star and keep up the good work.
Thanks Tim!
Thanks for the review Kate , I quiet enjoyed it. I live in the heart of Naples Italy where the roads are full of holes and bumps very narrow up and down alleys and a lot of filtering. I was strictly a sport bike rider until moving here from Florida but found riding a ZX10r in this city torture. I bought an F800GS thinking it might be ideal for these roads but I had 2 main issues with the 800 first the height of the bike even with the low seat put me in situations where getting my feet on the ground at 5â8âwas iffy . The second issue was smile factor , it just wasnât there. In 2016 I test road a R1200 and was very favorably impressed. Finally after seeing many reviews like yours for the last two years I purchased the R1250 RS for 2021. Although I have only just turned 1000 kilometers and most of my riding has been in the city Iâm loving the bike more and more on each ride. The power is so much more usable than anything Iâve ever ridden and she makes me smile. Even though the boxer seems wider than my 800 , the RS is actually much easier to filter. The number one large displacement bike sold in Italy is the big GS and for taller riders It may be the better choice but for shorter riders like me the RS is the ticket. Thanks again for your entertaining review and keep the shiny side up. Rickey Mooty
I'm the same height as you, had a GS for 10 years (110,000Km) Height and top heavyness never disapeared.....) Currently riding an 03 R 1150R and the comfort of easy ground access adds infinately to the ride. The rs would address the only lack on the R. LAck of wind protection.
Got the 1200rs think it's a great bike. Definitely deserves to be more popular. Great video too thanksđ
Thanks James! It is a cracking machine for sure đ
Very informative review. I have a 2016 R1200GSA and a 2016 S1000XR. You have me wanting to take a 1250 for a ride now. Also, I gotta say you have a wonderful voice/accent! You got a new sub.
Thank you! đ
I purchased a 2016 1200 RS a few months ago and I love it. I have owned the 2016 1200 R which I loved but I walked into the BMW dealership to ask a few questions and I traded my R for the RS. Huge difference in all aspects.
Cheers from San Antonio, Texas
Fabulous vlogg really enjoyed it đâ
I absolutely love my rs1200 sport one of the best bikes I've ever owned or ridden and that engine is a peach
Hi Nancy. Iâm thinking of test riding the Rs. How do you find the bike at slow speed / parking given it weighs 240kg?
@@billsnell1481 the weight is quite low so for me I find the balance really good and slow speeds are fine, I wouldn't necessarily rush to do a bike gymkhana on it, but this is the first bike in quite some time that I feel I could ride a u turn. I wanted a bike to tour on so I went with the faired option, otherwise I would have gone for the naked as it does just have the edge on finer handling, but that's entirely personal and that's like me saying I'd rather have a stripped out sports car vs one with all the comforts. So yes it's a heavy bike, but it doesn't feel it one bit.
Hi Kate, as an older rider I have ridden a few BMW RS, R100 RS, and K100 RS, Flying Brick, and of course the R1200 GS and R1250 GS Exclusive which I ride now and it is one hell of a machine, of course I test rode the RS1250,nice bike but not for me , the R1250 GS is such a good all rounder and very comfortable, RS 1250 too cramped for me, still a good bike, good review , ride safe and stay safe.
i always look forward when ya put a video on there great
Thanks Robert! That's lovely đ
Hi. Kate. Great vids..and very nice to see an opinion that doesnât go like this. â if you donât ride off road, then you donât need a GS. You need an RS.â Blah, blah blah! I ride my GS cos I believe itâs the best road bike for me! Keep up the jolly good work and ride as you see fit.
Yet again another great video and an honest sounding sales person as well.
Thank you Peter!!! I just give my impression and tell people if they are considering... ride it yourself as me with my own perspectives and stature may have a completely different experience from the next person đ
Love the channel Kate and would love you to look at the R9T 21 model not so much the Pure! the twin clocks look fab and the 719 option made me feel very excited and canât wait to go see one, if I can traid in or sell my HD Fatboy 04 plate I will be up for a test ride and purchase one in your store đ
Ride safe and keep your channel going as me and my friends in Bristol love it đ
Nice honest review, i had a sit on that bike yesterday(my GS was having a check up) a quick clip to advise suspension set upon BMWs,F 900XR thoughts and a must for the next video the navigator VI :)
Noted Gary! Thanks for the feedback!
Hi Kate. Excellent video and information. I enjoyed the ride too. I have a 1200 GSA, really like it, does all and more than I need. That RS looks and sounds great though. Love that British scenery on your motorcycle ride, would enjoy riding through that.
Apologies if you already know... Top tip set a destination in the BMW Connected App and set the route type to winding avoiding Motorways etc... Itâs like going from A to B via Z brilliant for random ride outs.
Good review Kate. I have a 2016GS & 2020 1250RS (also 2007 1200R), all different in their abilities & all good, very good. I agree that the RS's kick stand is a little tall. The GS is more flickable & nimble than the RS. The old 1200R is also a lot of fun to get around on too. Unfortunately I will have to part with my GS as bursitis in my hip (I am approaching 70) makes it a wee bit painful throwing my leg over. Kate, I love your transparency & honesty in the reviews, keep up the good work. From the Land Down Under.
Thanks Mark, means a lot! Fair play to you with all those! A stable most would be jealous off, even without a GS in it soon!
Kate thanks for the ride vid. Yes I would like a walk round and comments on managing 240kg off the stand / parking please.
Like you I am totally impressed with the boxer engine and until youâve ridden one you wonât believe how smooth the power delivery is. I ride a 2018 R1200 gsa and even pulling all that weight it is impressive. From the U S stay safe!!
Thank you!!! Appreciate your comment. Ride safe too đ đ â€
I rode the R1200R for a while and loved it to bits, very nimble comfortable and fast when you like. I've been toying with the idea of switching to the RS but could never figure out in what way they ride that much differently. Surprisingly not many f2f comparison between the two so curious to know your views besides one not having fairings and being more upright than the other. Thanks for the review, great fun as usual ;-)
The R has a shorter diff ratio so around town and off the line much quicker. The RS is going to feel slightly lazy unless you're doing motorway miles.
Another great video Kate. Thx. Suggestion: Consider starting your videos with you and the bike, stiil camera (non fish eye) with B-Roll closeups, intro the bike and basic specs, then video ride and your great review insights and comments, finish as you started standing w the bike with final thoughts. Viewers likely want to see more of you and of the bike, versus the mostly the road. Just my 2 cents. Keep up the great work! Oh, if you have access to a 2021+ R1250RT, love to hear your take. đđ
Nice one Kate , You done a good job there .
Nice bike. I used to own the 1200 RS (before it was stolen) and really liked it except for two things which I changed. It needed risers as the positioning gave me wrist ache on long journeys and the placement of the satnav.
I'm 1m 71 and therefore have always been reluctant to the BMW's flagship, due to its height mainly. Then I discovered your channel and since, you became a source of inspiration for me
Thank you for that :-)
I've ridden the R1250R (very similar model) and it has a surprisingly low seat height - I'm 1m70 and my feet were flat on the floor plus my knees were bent too. Get to a BMW showroom and sit on a few models đ
@@RikkyTang Good to know !
Thanks for your feedback
That's lovely to hear. Thank you! And Rikky is right, definitely get yourself down to a showroom and sit on some bikes, you might be surprised đ
1m73 (5'7") inseam 32" and was Ok on 1200 GS. You only need 1 foot on ground.
The reason the GS is so much more flickable / less stable than the RS is because it has a higher center of gravity than the RS. Higher the COG the less needed to lean it. Lower the COG the more needed. The lower COG is more stable & more forgiving, but it's less flickable.
Great review and nice bike I donât like the look of the exhaust enjoyed the ride đ
Again, another great video Kate. You asked for feedback from the owner's of RS. I have the 2020 R1250RS Option719 with Remus, panniers, helibars, and GPS. I have owned 12 other bikes in 7 years, ranging from Honda cruisers (4), Triumph Thunderbirds (2), ST1300, Trophy SE, R1200RT LC, K1600GT, Yamaha Raider S (still have) and now the RS. The RS is the most enjoyable bike of all. I do not do off-road, stay on pavement, not in to extended long range touring and camping. I don"t have a problem with trailering the bike to a destination and riding the twisties, "Tail of the Dragon", The Guantlet when time is critical. This RS will do it all better than any of the others. The RT was too hot, the K1600GT was heavy, the cruisers were uncomfortable after 150 miles, etc. I can ride the RS all day, in the heat of Georgia, take a little gear, and maintain a presence with most spirited riders. I am comfortable and happy. BTW, the Triumph Trophy SE was the second best bike I have ever owned but became nervous Triumph was discontinuing the bike and values would fall, was time for it to go.
Thank you so much for providing an owners perspective đ glad you enjoy the RS! So jealous you have the tail of the dragon over there!
That's so interesting to read you saying the RT was too hot, because I agree. I had a 2012 RT, and when summer hit even here in Canada I had to invest in some premium mesh gear, but once the temperature went above 86 degrees I was already sweltering! Superb weather protection but too protective lol. Looking forward to my '22 RS !
Hi KateJust love your passion for motorcycle keep up the good work
Thanks Mick! Too kind đ
Another great vid Kate
Yup side sand on r1250r is also makes the bike stand up straightâish so you have to be careful. Another great video, keep them coming. Is there any news on the forth coming S1000r
I have a 2020 RS Exclusive and a 2019 R 1250 GS Adventure. I love them both and I do use the GS off-road, but it is a perfect road touring Bike.
Great bike, love mine , Better than a GS on road , great video Kate
Nice bike... goes to the top of my bike replacement list :)
Ill have a big bike one day haha, good video đ
No heated seats and no backlit switches. I still like mine tho. A mature bike and shaft drive a big plus
Great video. I'm new to your channel and I'm considering both the GS and the RS. I have an inseam similar to yours and was thinking the GS might be a little tall for me. I look forward to watching more of your videos.
Test rode one last week. Smooth, comfortable but dare I say a bit boring? I took off from BMW on my Ducati thinking ahh that's better. I love most bikes but not quite ready to be that pampered I need something that bites back, excites me. Great ride review!
Greetings from the USA. Great review. I have the exclusive and like it a lot.
Yes, I own an RS. Had the 1200 RS, but I decked it. Shame. But the 1250 is a real improvement in power, not that I ever found the 1200 wanting. It is a really handsome bike. It needs better horns, and the mod to do that is, err, difficult. The stand angle seems to vary between units. Mine is fine.
Well what a review !! you're up there with the likes of Teapotone,Richy Vida,Missenderflyer,Lambchops. Not not bad for a 5ft 4 inchs Lady. Thanks for sticking up for the GS - it's the Suv of Bikes. Ride & Stay Safe.Cheers !!!!
Oh man! Thanks Jonathan. High praise indeed! đ
Test rode this machine 10 days a ago and just fell in love with it. Might have to say goodbye to my BMWF800GT!!
Yay! So glad you loved it! đ
@@UsernameKate So falling in love with this bike on a test ride meant I did say goodbye to my F800GT and have had my R1250 RS Sport for just a week and boy is it beautiful to ride. I have watched your excellent video again and noted your comments about the side stand....I'm so glad you have mentioned it (I thought it was just me finding it odd). It is very 'upright' and that means I have to watch carefully where I park else the bike feels like it will tip over. I am the same height as you
Good vidđ An in-depth walk round would be much appreciated. Many thanks.
Hi, I recently found your channel and I'm enjoying your reviews - thanks. I'm looking to replace my elderly F800GT and after something more engaging. I previously owned a Sprint ST1050 and I can see the R12500RS as a good, up to date, option. I'm only a tad taller than you so appreciate your insight from that perspective. I've also considered the F900 XR but I see a huge jump in general value/quality comparing BMWs larger bikes to the mid range options. The R1250RS is just so much better value/equipped than an F900XR. The low seat option looks ideal.
Thank Northern Lass Kate once again superb commentary xx
I test ride one off them last year really nice looking bike comfortable and very quick as well
Ace arent they!
Yea they are good
Another good review Kate.
Thanks Lyn đ„°
This young woman fascinates me, not least with her excellent clear English. Gree.. from Hamburg
Also looks better than the bikes đđ
Buena mĂĄquina, yo tengo una igual , pero azul , solo llevo 1500km ECHOS con ella pero es un maquina
Great video Kate. I have a Harley, but you have me wanting that GS.
đ
Nice ending on a little speed with the GS. You should take it to the track and do some laps like your S1000RR. That would be an interesting video. Just purchased a 2008 GS with only 4400 miles in pristine conditions.
Wow, you were going so fast the dash pixelated đđ
This video is for me. I also love this bike.
For me the best Bike for Touring!
I was already with this Bike in complete West Europe (over 7000km) and it was pure Fun with this Bike!
This Bike is completely underestimated! :-)
