These videos are testament to how thorough Colonial Airstream is in selling and familiarizing customers with the product. We recently purchased our Bambi 20FB at Colonial and it was probably the most fun and memorable buying experience ever. After watching Patrick's videos for more than a year it was kind of a thrill meeting him in person and I thank you Patrick for dog sitting our baby Pepper while we did our orientation. I can't speak highly enough about Patrick, Nick and the rest of the staff at Colonial Airstream. If anyone out there wants a great buying experience when buying their dream this is the place to go. Patrick, when are you going to do a full walk through of the Bambi 20. I still like to watch these for reference of the systems. That's how good I think these videos are.

We have had 5 Airstreams from a tiny old Flying Could to an Airstream Bus as our family grew, I can tell you they are made like an airplane, they never ever, ever, ever, leak. I restored 3 of them and they all were just pure joy to pull and camp in. Don't even bother getting any other brand for your camping experience. They are THAT awesome.

The tank capacities are on the small side. And the additional cost was a problem for us.

I want this exactly the same, but rear bed. That way I could at least get a nice view while sleeping. But this is my favorite floor plan of this size by far. I don’t like the others with the bathroom taking up the entire back section. It really makes it feel cramped.

this model is prob the best model I've seen in the 20 ft range. full bed, dinette, nice kitchen and bathroom at the end of trailer. I like this set up prob a little more than the 16 ft rear bedroom.

One question about the 20FB under bed storage -- is that area accessible by lifting the mattress up or is it only accessible through the (tiny) door? If the mattress lifts up, is it purely a "lift and hold it yourself" exercise or does airstream provide gas shocks under there? (Really asking about 2022 models by the way).
The lift up mattress is on the 22FB not on the 20FB.
Patrick, I thought I heard you say that the battery disconnect switch had to be in Use mode for battery to charge when connected to shore power. My 2018 27FB seems to charge the battery when connected to power regardless of switch being in Use or Store mode. I keep it in garage storage plugged into power for months in Store mode and battery stays fully charged.
It is always best practice to have the battery disconnect switch turned on before plugging in the Airstream.

Can a cabinet be installed above the kitchen sink for the caravel and/or the bambi? I like the look of the cabinet above the sink that the flying cloud had. BTW I love your videos!

Paulo thank you for checking this out. On the small Airstreams the beds are small. We do have wider beds on the 23' and up sizes.
The flying cloud was much better looking. The dark wood is nice but except for that I would rather have the previous model.

Great video as always! I have an older 34' Airstream and looking to upgrade the hinges. What hinges are those that are installed that are adjustable?
I am not sure which hinges you are referencing but anything like that is available through our parts department. parts@colonialrv.com

There is one thing I got to ask. I recall in previous Caravel and Bambis, the refrigerator could run on either propane or electricity. But now the newer models are electric only. Any reason why they done this?
The 12V DC/120V A/C refrigerators run more efficient, do not require fans, there is no longer venting holes required to be cut into the side walls and you can leave the refrigerator on while driving now.
just curious.. can you use your own larger tv on that arm or are you stuck with a smaller tv there?
Yes, owners have upgraded aftermarket and used the existing mount.

Yes, absolutely
Do you think a new Honda Ridgeline with a tow rating of 5000lbs can tow an Airstream Caravel 20 FB safely? Or this asking too much from the vehicle? The Honda Ridgeline would have a brake controller installed. I appreciate your thoughts, thank you!
I have customers that are very happy with the towing experience with a trailer of this size.
13:33 You mention a window has to be open due to the pressure. I got to ask what happens if you don’t? Does a window break or something?
It is best practice so you don't starve it of air and strain the motor.

Screened windows & door? Is there an option for alternate bedroom privacy (vs curtain), option for own mattress replacement, option for additional TV in bedroom, locked cabinetry while traveling, user manual, ???? Thanks much for the information thus far!
All windows and doors that open are screened. The curtain is the bedroom privacy. You can order a custom fit mattress through a 3rd party aftermarket if you feel it absolutely necessary. A bedroom TV can be installed aftermarket, there are owners that have done so already. The owners manuals can be downloaded on the Airstream website.
Patrick Botticelli we just picked up our new caravel 20 and you were right the tacoma pulls it like a dream with the blue ox track pro. Another question for my fellow trd pro taco lover: what is the best option for the trailer brakes? I think there's a factory plug under the steering wheel... what do you run in yours? Also I'm going to upgrade to the 25fb with the hatch and desk next year and I'm driving from Michigan to get it from you just to say I met Patrick Botticelli... I was telling my dealership about you and they said "we don't sat that name around here" 🤣🤣🤣
Ryan, we would recommend using the Prodigy P2 or P3, it should have been installed and setup prior to you pulling the trailer.
My local dealer didn’t have the 20FB in stock but mentioned the dinette is smaller? Would you be able to provide measurements for the dinette table?

Is there any kind of shelf that goes over the storage in the bedroom where the outlets are? Need a place for the CPAP machine.
We have had customers modify the wardrobe to accommodate the CPAP.

You mentioned switching the bed around, is there room and a plug for a CPAP? I would have to have the bed reversed from what shows in this video. Can this be towed by a Honda Ridgeline?
Customers have been able to add a CPA aftermarket. Yes it is towable by a properly equipped Honda Ridgeline.
Colonial Airstream I watched 4 or 5 of your videos this afternoon. Too bad you are way out east and not here or nearby South Dakota. Omaha/Council Bluffs would be great. As is Minneapolis or DesMoines.
So if a tire blows on those single axle trailers how bad is it? The main reason I'm considering a 23ft flying cloud.
In my 19 years selling Airstreams I have never had one of my customers lose control having a blowout on a single axle Airstream.
I'd like to see a swing-out lazy-boy type chair (or two) with a side table where the dinette is and a TV screen that will swing out.
That would be interesting in a trailer of this size.
@@colonialairstream a person likes to sit and look out. Maybe put a CB or HAM radio by it. they're small enough now. outside cameras, a control panel with small screens - FLIR cams-night views. Fantastic fan above for pipe smoke (I know). No long term sitting on dinette cushions. A nook. A man/woman-cave to view the horizons in creature comfort for couple hours indoor, nights. You can make it work. You're very talented. If they're a hit - give me one. LOL. No really. I'm poor and a paisan from the East in the SW. I'll get the tow vehicle.
Is the Caravel available with an oven? I'm not a fan of campers with microwave only.
The Caravel and Bambi models are not available with Ovens. Check out the Flying Cloud series.

it is 42 X 30 I don't believe the bikes would fit.
Hi Patrick, Did you mention the fridges work on 12 V when driving and electric at the site? Do the new fridges still work on propane when dry camping? Are there any positives and negatives to the 2020 fridge over the 2019?
How are you finding the new hitch couplers holding up?
Lance the 2020 Caravel has a 12V/120V Compressor refrigerator. I have swapped out my old style absorption refrigerator on my Airstream for this same refrigerator and am happy. There are so many positives and I have not one negative. We have not experienced any challenges with the couplers.
Colonial Airstream if I am dry camping though I have to wonder how long the batteries would hold up while running the fridge in addition to all the other 12V items unless the fridge requires very little power.
On my Airstream I went 5 days and never went below 12.1V. I have solar on mine like the way I stock the Bambi and Caravels at Colonial.

Yes, with the V6 tow package and a brake controller.
My F150 towing guide says I should't need a weight distribution hitch until I go over 5000 GVWR. However, the tongue rating on the truck is 500 without the weight distribution hitch and 1220 with the hitch. Do I look at the light weight of this trailer and go without a weight distribution hitch, or do I look at the tongue weight of the 20FB being over 500 lbs and get a weight distribution hitch? Yes with a V6 on newer models, no with an I-4. I would avoid taking it fully loaded up long steep grades though.
DaddyO273 - Capable? Yes. Recommended? Yikes! Keep in mind that while this trailer is right at your Tacoma’s tow rating of 5000 lbs., but you never want to tow at the max weight because of the stresses on your vehicle. Towing at or over capacity will shorten your vehicles lifespan. I would recommend a Tundra, but that’s just me.

My Tacoma can pull up to 6500# and does a great job pulling this trailer that has an unloaded vehicle weight of under 4000#.

I’m not fond of this floor plan. Don’t like the bed by the door, & don’t care for the kitchen crammed in the back like that. I think this is the only floor plan on an airstream that I haven’t cared for. But I still love Airstreams , really love Patrick!
