- Elevated thunderstorms formed over southern Wisconsin during the early afternoon on April 19th, 2023, and quickly became severe as they moved slowly eastward towards Lake Michigan.
Storms brought with them large hail (up to 2 inches in diameter reported in Jackson) and trained over the same areas for several hours, which lead to flash flooding. As much as 6 inches of rain fell, and up to 2-3 inches of accumulating hail was noted in spots. Temperatures were in the 30s for the duration of the event.
This was definitely one of the more interesting weather events I've documented to date. Thanks for watching!

Awesome
I remember I was in history class at my high school when this hailstorm happened. I sat right next to the window and saw the hail come down. It was crazy
Thanks for the video. Nice shots. Saw the nice green grass. I'm North East of you and it is all grey, brown and cold.
Thank you! Hopefully it starts getting warmer there soon!
Wow! That is a lot of hail. Some of the fields looked like they were covered with snow instead of ice pellets. Hopefully this did not hurt the plant and trees coming into spring. As always, thank you for your video and your time showing the weather. 🎉
Yeah, I remember mentioning how it just looked like winter again haha. Thank you for watching!
Those cloud shapes were so cool, definetly wouldn’t have suprised me if we got hail that big and that great in accumulation considering those clouds!!, couldn’t imagine a storm like this with just temps in the 30’s either, incredible video!
Thank you!! This whole event was just so odd and cool in so many ways haha! Almost always when we get elevated thunderstorms with temps in the 30s, there's a low deck of stratus clouds that blocks the view of any cool storm structure. Not this time though!
Fantastic footage. Those clouds looked amazing. Have a great day 🙂⚘️.
Thank you very much Donna! You have a great day as well!
@@MidwestStormChasing Thank you. Stay safe out there.
We just had a small storm earlier today that dropped a bunch of small hail. It looked like it was snowing out.
Cool!
That’s a cool storm
If the La Crosse area gets anymore water (likely) we'll see a record breaker for flood levels that goes back to 1997.
Glad I live north on high ground.
Send this weather my way. All we get now is hot, dry weather which I can't tolerate. I like thunderstorms and fun weather.
I wish I could!!
