    Better stay away from any food establishment in that entire shopping center. Rats and roaches don’t just stay in one unit of a building.

      That’s why this isn’t the renter’s fault. It’s the landlord that needs to address this problem. The news stations bagging on these restaurants are ruining their business for a problem that’s beyond their control. Ask any rodent termination company and they will say that rodents travel through attic crawl spaces. How is it fair to the renter if rats are smelling his food, but coming in and out throughout an attic space that is above other businesses?

      @@AJXOXO-vz1pn: Rats, other rodents and cockroaches are attracted to food, not swimwear, home furnishings or shoes. When these animals are present in a commercial mall it’s because of the food outlets and it’s their responsibility to control them.

      @@rayray8687 rats and bugs are attracted to food and water. No dispute there, but how is it the restaurant’s fault if the rats are entering from elsewhere are traveling to and fro throughout the attic space? The owner of the building has to be cited. It’s not fair to ly blame on someone if it isn’t their fault.

    • @rayray8687
      @rayray8687 Před 8 měsíci +6

      @@AJXOXO-vz1pn: I didn’t say it was the restaurant’s fault I said it’s their ‘responsibility’. Food purveyors are under a special set of rules to ensure sanitary conditions that don’t apply to most other businesses. The landlord can look after the outside and common areas of the building but generally has almost no right to enter the individual lessees premises without permission. Pest control and sanitation in a restaurant is 100% the responsibility of the business owner.
      I’ll also mention that if the attic spaces above the shops are open to one another without proper partitions the property owner, the constructor and the municipal inspector are all in violation of several building and fire codes. Rodents and insects can find their way through almost anything but it is far more likely they’ll spread from the restaurant to other businesses than vice versa.

I often had to ask the staff to wash their hands after coming from somewhere outside the building and straight to food counter to assist the cashier. I once witnessed them putting napkins and a cup back in the bin after they fell to the floor. They once gave my order to the wrong person in the drive through, then took it back from the car driver and tried to give it to me. NO WAY and I saw everything. The last straw was watching one play with his nose then putting my hash-brown in the packet. I canceled, asked for my money and walked out. They thought I was the problem. There were so many nasty restaurants, employees, etc. Always touching their phone then food while wearing gloves, not changing the gloves after touching their phone. Pulling up their pants then touching the food without changing gloves. Adjusting their hair, scratching their ear, face, neck etc without changing gloves. Cross contamination, blood borne pathogens, etc are no joke. Esp for seniors, kids, pregnant women, immune system compromised persons, etc. Sad that they are being reopened so soon. The fact is that if a business is willing to put in work and effort into maintaining sanitation in the bathroom, it's more likely the business is willing to clean the kitchen. What sucks for them is that they are in a building with a lot of other businesses. They usually have shared spaces like an attic that the rodents can go back and forth to other units. Obviously, the rodents are attracted to food. But is it really the restaurant’s fault or that of the building owner? The restaurant is just renting the space.

    Some restaurants owners are frugal as heck I’ve worked in the restaurant business for 20 years it only cost 90 dollars for a exterminator to come in once every week or 2 weeks that’s not expensive at all . I remember I got super pissed off managing a restaurant where we had a exterminator come in every 3 days because we had a roach problem turns out it wasn’t us who were the problem it was the restaurant next door who never had a exterminator where the inspectors came in and shut that business down than eventually they sold that business and I went to go look into that suite where it was infested with roaches so I had to call the landlord to do something about it since that room is no longer occupied by any tenants and I’m like wow they really couldn’t pay 90-300 for exterminator… I wonder how they live like at home .. yuck …

    I really don’t care about the cat. Many of us have one in our homes, you go overseas it’s normal and I’ve never gotten sick. Our ancestors and founding fathers relied on them as well & personally I think that should be a choice. As long as customers know and they can choose to patronize those establishments or not.

    Honestly, I'm not even mad at these restaurants. I'm mad at the knuckleheads who keep them open by continuing to eat there.
    There's no way a place with *31 violations* in a single inspection isn't making customers violently ill on a regular basis.
    I've seen some news crews stop customers/community members and when presented with the health code violations reports, feign concern or disgust, but ultimately admit would eat there again.
    I mean, Chipotle was repeatedly serving y'all e.coli and had multiple locations across the country shut down, but they're still in business.
    I stopped eating there at the 1st national headlines of closures and never looked back.
    How many of y'all still throw money at them and cross your fingers that you won't get a side of norovirus with your streak burrito bowl🤨
    Fact is, most people ultimately don't care if it's their fav eatery. They'll play roulette with the gut bubblies just to avoid cooking at home🙄🤷🏾‍♀️
