This is an example of why homemade food is always the best. My uncle is a baker in New York City. He always tells me that there are a lot of disgusting things that happens in the kitchen and customers don't know anything about it because they don't see it. He always brings his own food to eat for lunch instead of eating the food at his workplace because he sees all the disgusting things that happens in the kitchen.

I’ve been a chef for 22 years. You all would be absolutely shocked by what goes on in “back of the house”. Servers will nibble off ur food. The “special” is usually something that should have been in the trash. If you order clams and mussels you’re freakin naive as u know what. The floors and countertops are disgusting. Cutting boards are not rotated enough so a cook may be seasoning raw chicken and turn around and portion a cooked steak on the same cutting board… cross contamination is rampant.
Don’t ever order oysters in summertime cuz the waters where they are harvested are not cold enough to guard against bacteria also you think a $12 an hour shucker is gonna care if an oyster batch came in a week ago…. Or was that TWO weeks ago???
Even I know that health inspectors can be bought off and bribed.
Seriously a whole documentary should be done about the food service industry so the public can be made more aware of what goes on not just at the Chinese buffet but almost every restaurant.

When we came , at first they think I am a Chinese, all Chinese talking... but after knowing that I am not Chinese, they let we waiting for long time by serving all the Chinese come even after us... untill we ask them, they say " sorry " !🙃🙉😠 and we almost like last ppl they serve! I can't remember the exact amount but he was kinda like "so you stole $50,000 a month?" Guy "No it was $25,000" LOL

It’s impressive how many places fail to understand that. Draft beer kind of scares me in a lot of places. Soda guns too. They are so easy to neglect until the day a long string of biological sludge comes out of them. Liquor and bottled only.

In China, people tend to find and deal with their own problems, don’t like to accuse other people’s problems, and definitely don’t like an outsider to finger point at them. In America, people usually don’t deal with their own problems, but instead always finger point to other people’s problems. In this case, the Chinese owner had zero tolerance towards finger pointing.

If it’s got a generic name (most of the time, a country or food followed by “buffet” or “restaurant”), is part of a mini strip mall with Spanish tiling, has few customers (only applies to sit-in restaurants) and has too much decor in the front windows. The lesson here is to never eat out, especially Chinese food. Yea right lol that's never gonna happen. I never got sick from any restaurant or Chinese buffet so I'll be alright.

Racist. I have seen the same at many restaurants that are of different types of food. People are just disgusting.

When you get cited for all these violations, wouldn't you want to clean up your act so you can stay in business ? How difficult is it to keep your place clean and safe for customers?

According to the comments I've read thus far, very. Sounds like a lot of work and a lot of restaurant owners don't want to spend the time and the cost and would rather cut corners.

I've worked in the kitchens industry and let me tell you all a few things.
Inspections are done but they give the staff a heads up "Hey I'm coming to Inspect" and then management tells the staff to keep everything clean and neat that day. After that the same old continues.
    Laziness, negligence, and so on.
A way to keep restaurants on their toes is to have Inspections often and randomly, no heads-up calls especially if they'll only be cleaned when Inspection comes by.

    • @DLIX2DCLI
      @DLIX2DCLI Před 2 lety +1

Yes. Food safety inspections should be done random and often without notice to catch violations that could be hidden.

    • @couchkitten1

Not at my restaurant. Our inspector came twice a year and it was always random, and she was one of them who basically wore a white glove 😑.
