Wowsers, I'm gutted I'm not in the UK to benefit from this! It reminded me of catching the last train back to Herefordshire from Liverpool street about 30 years back. There was a pasty shop, The Cornish Pasty Co I think right by the platform. They were just closing and being a little bit tipsy I cheekily asked the girl if they had any food left over. She handed me a black bin liner completely full of still warm pasties! I'm pretty sure they were just going out as rubbish, but there was no other trash in the bag. There must have been a hundred or more in there. We fed ourselves, everyone on the train, half of Hertfordshire that night and several encores the next morning!

We have Crosse and Blackwell, Nonesuch and Grandmother's jarred mincemeat. But tbh, I prefer Mr Kipling's. Yeah, normally pie is sweet over here. If course, we have chicken pot pies and shepherd's pie (which isn't a pie and I believe you call it cottage pie because primarily we use beef) but that's the only two non-sweet "pies" that I can think of. (My step father's aunt was a French Canadian nun and when she was very young, they'd make a concoction of ground beef, pork, mashed potato and veal to stuff in their turkeys for Christmas. The left over mixture they'd put into a pie shell and bake. It was/is called tourtierre and it's fantastic! Not too sound like a stereotypical American (I'm proud to be an American but I embrace my British roots... I drink tea, watch Are You Being Served? And have baked beans on toast for dinner when I'm not feeling well) but this meat pie is made even better with some ketchup on the side! We've actually made cheeseburger pie which isn't too dissimilar to it. Over all though, we have very few savory pies.
Which is why we need a Gregg's 😊. I also said Beefy Bake because I'm a fan of Still Game!

Hi Carl, that's an admirable sentiment, but it's not always practical to organise. A lot of the outlets are not in bigger population centres with big homeless problems. There are, of course, already a lot of places that have their own arrangements in place to help provide food to the homeless. And let's not forget, there are plenty of people out there who are really struggling even though they have a roof over their head. People skipping meals cos they can't afford food and heating. It's a shame that in the 7th biggest economy in the world we have people having to make those decisions mind.
