Only A Tribe Called Quest could bring all those faces together to do this, loved and respected by all. Best hip hop lp of all time for me and especially if your a sample lover...
Great video brother! I knew all of this, as someone who has the cassette and vinyl album of MM, but it’s so great to see the love and appreciation of these little aspects in hip hop from other cultures, music aficionados, DJs and enthusiasts such as yourself. I spent a good chunk of 93-94 with friends in the music industry talking about this album cover and the artists and producers who decorated it with finesse.
Hearing someone from the UK talk about this album with so much love just warms my heart. Tribe is universally good music, will always be one of my favorite projects of alll time.
Got the black border on my Cassette copy, red on CD and green on the vinyl copy. Always loved going through the faces with my Homies trying to name em all. Definitely my fav Tribe album. A HIPHOP masterpiece. RIP Phife🔥 Peace Furio.
YES, PLEASE DO THE OTHER VERSIONS!!! You're talking about the Golden era of Hip Hop man, the artists that inspired Tribe Called Quest to bring us all those years of amazing music! Someone needs to produce this type of content so it's out there for young people who truly do take an interest in the art form, to find. Follow-up videos would be greatly appreciated :-)
Really liked this. I didn’t know they had 3 different cover version. I got the red version on Cd. It would be cool to do artists from the other 2 covers.
This is something that I totally forgot about! Back in 2020, I got back into collecting CDs again and I ended up getting the red border version of Midnight Marauders. Great video as always, Furio!
All my life I’ve listened and studied this album, cover included, one of the greatest Hip-Hop LPs of all time BTW, and I never knew that there were 3 of them!!! I am floored. I bought this CD the day it came out and got the black border that had Buckshot and Pete Nice on it. I thought this was the only one cover until today. I even went into my CD collection and looked. 🤦🏾♂️ @djfurio you are a boss for this one. Thank you.
Thank You for that HIPHOP 101 Lesson, I learned a great deal about the Black Moon Acronym, the Beastie Boys first group name and The Area’s Living Legend TOO $HORT’s different style…lIts great to be Humble & Continue to learn some Fresh & New…!!! Keep up the Good work and we look forward to the Part 2 & 3…!!!
This is great. I knew about the different colors, but not the different people on it! I knew most of them, but not all. I am pretty sure mine has others on it like the pharcyde and MC Serch. Must check..
Great video, loved it ! Some faces were unknown to me, but now that secrect's revealed :-) One of the best hip-hop albums ever made (on par with The Low End Theory ;-)) Oh and I have the green version, not vinyl but CD, and it has a mystery track. The track listing only mentions 14 tracks, but on my CD there is a 15th track, called Hot Sex. Don't know if this is the case on other versions. Keep up the good work, and yes, please do the other versions !
The guy you were unable to identify is...The Biggins. Anyway, looking forward to the remaining instalments in this trilogy. If you're looking for ideas for future videos, please do some tutorials on how to cut and scratch vocals. Plenty DJ tutes for scratching up tones but surprisingly few for cutting up sentences.
@@DJFurio It's not The Biggins (that was my little joke). As for vocal scratch tutorials, nothing specific - just thought you could put your own spin on the topic and do something similar to czcams.com/video/AOAp1zRHiwA/video.html
I mean it could be him for the Boyz N The Hood connection. I just have my doubts as he’s not got any other link to hip hop. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks.
I hope MF DOOM is either on the red or the black version 👽😀 Just saying. Really enjoyed your video, I bought the MM vinyl back in the day and fell in love with the design at once
He’s not on any of the versions. He wasn’t known as MF DOOM back in 93. He was part of KMD known as Zev Love X but he’s not on the covers. Thanks for watching.
@@DJFurio Yes I know, these was the "Gas Face" days, too. Still would have been nice to see his full face appear on one of those covers. Thanks for the upload, great idea for a video anyway!
I grew up in that era too but some of the faces are pretty obscure. One I really didn’t know at all that I’ve since had confirmed as Litro. There’s several on the other 2 versions I’m unsure of too.
The version I have more. All of de la. More of rock steady. I think the re rest of LONS, Pharcyde,. Pretty sure Chi Ali is on there. I'll go get my copy.
The first gentleman featured on the record who you did not recognize _ im not 100% but the first name who came to mind was/is D Nice from Boogie Down Productions....
@@DJFurio I'm not 100% _ it was the first name that came to mind and I was 90% on the rest as far as name that face. 1 thing I am 100% for sure is that it's the gentleman from Boyz in the Hood who was in the wheelchair.. wtf...lol...
@@DJFurio I read those 🤣. At least I think L.O.N.S. makes more sense because dude is a rapper, Busta is on the cover & their group affiliates. I'm dying to know the real answer "SOMEONE CALL JA"! 🤣
I do have the original vinyl like I showed at the start. It’s the first pressing from 1993. It only has the faces I showed in the video. The red and black border versions were for CD and cassette releases with completely different faces on them.

@djfurio the person next to Maseo is Lite, ali shaheeds cousin and Tips road manager. I grew up with him. He is still working with Tip till this day

It’s an amazing album definitely.

Yes, please do the others as well.
I probably will
What I assumed all album covers where going to be broken down. So of course we want to see the other two albums done
I think doing all 3 in one video would make it too long for most people to watch. 8-10 minutes is usually a good video length.
Yeah man. Dope video. 👌🔥
Thanks for watching

I just own the green border vinyl version. Thanks for watching.
This is awesome! Keep it coming.

It’s crazy I know. There’s no reason why anyone would think there could be different versions of the cover. I’m glad you liked the video.
Excellent detective work DJ Furio. Sure, keep it going.

Ok now that I know... I had the green border...but in informing me of the different borders you have earned a subscriber! Great video.

yes do another video on the other covers
i will do soon
Yes, you have to do the other two albums. You can’t start the new year with unfinished business.

No, im not 💯 sure about the pic in row 4 but it damb sure looks like him. Also, i really enjoyed your video. I went and downloaded all 3 covers😂.
