  • Yeah, I'm changing the short shifter and shifter bushings AGAIN... this time with ‪@racerxfab‬ parts for the #GRCorolla.
    -
    If you've followed this journey, I'm answering the question no one asked... "How different are all the available short shifters and bushing kits for the GR Corolla?"
    -
    Well, this is the channel for that answer... I swap out my previous DC Sports bushings and Forge Motorsports short shifter, for a complete parts change from Racer X Fabrication.
    -
    The results speak for themselves... we may have found the end of the road here folks. This is the top.... or is it?
    Only one way to find out... sit back and relax, this is CarQuicks!

    I couldn’t get the locking pin back in the 2nd hole you show, must be something with the manufacturing tolerance. Thanks for the vid!

      The tolerances are definitely tight! I had to use a rubber mallet in a few spots to help persuade it.

    I used ur video to install this and laughed every time I heard u say short shifter sandwich.
    Took about 1hr in total from start to finish. Feels great!! I also have their 60A pitch mount and it’s a great combo. I got the 70a and I’m tempted to swap it out again but nervous it’ll be too much nvh without much added benefit.

      Haha! Glad I could help. I would say the 70a won’t be too much NVH, but I might be a bad gauge because I ran an 85A for like 15K miles lol

    Better loctite that nut on the upside down cable connection. Not sure I can trust it to not backout from vibration overtime even with a split washer. I wish they also added a hole on the stud for additional retainer clip safety.

    • @CarQuicks

      Yes, there is, the bracket I removed must be re-installed in order to mount the intake I have and the stock intake.

  • @KoalaOalaJones
    @KoalaOalaJones Před 3 měsíci +1

    Man my forge is giving me problems. No matter how hard I crank down the pin that goes through the bushing it eventually backs out over time and shifting is not horrible but notchy as hell cuz the pin starts moving around.
    My question is, is this racer x shifter short enough? I see it’s set to 40% on the website but the 50-60% range on the forge felt so right (while it worked). Do you have an opinion on this?

    • @CarQuicks
      @CarQuicks  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I ran the Forge SS for a long time and whole it is notchy; I did like it. The RacerX version cleans up the notchiness a fair amount and matches pretty close to the overall shortness of the Forge unit. Personally, just from installation to daily usage I prefer the RacerX versions. Also, with the new BilletWorkz full short throw assembly you can pair it with the RacerX kit and really get it short!

    • @KoalaOalaJones
      @KoalaOalaJones Před 2 měsíci

      So i checked my forge ss again and the pin has actually been in place this time. What i noticed is that a corner of the black cable head that holds the bushing is rubbing and wearing out because it’s touching the other parts of the shifter. Didn’t film it but my guess is that’s what could be causing the notchiness from 2nd to 3rd 🤷🏻‍♂️.
      .. anywho, racerx shorted me on hardware so I’m waiting for them to send me an extra collar lol
      Dc bushings with no ss is still a great improvement from stock in my opinion 👌🏼
