- How to couple a fifth wheel, or how to hook an 18 wheeler. This short video clip demonstrates the correct procedure to couple a prime mover to a semi trailer fitted with a Jost Fifth wheel. This same procedure can be used with other brands of turntables or fifth wheels, including K-Hitch, SAF Holland, D-Angelo.

It looks tiny but it’s bigger than you think
Winding up the landing gear/legs isn’t necessary. Use the air suspension to lift it a few cm of the ground, before coupling up.
Didnt check that trailer brake to make sure it was on before backing under that trailer, the whole unit could have been pushed back before getting the king pin in.
On modern trailers the brakes automatically set once the air supply is released/dumped.

honestly with the air lines, i thought this was a joke but this being Australia, you need more power in the air lines for more trailers so it makes sense to have this kind of connection but here in the US this is a joke and takes too much time.

Not a fan of jost fifthwheels but nice k200. But dont yall use glad hands on the airline's rather then the quick disconnects?? And why so many electric lines??
One electric line. Lights. Second electric line is ABS. Glad hands not as good. Rubber perished and you’ve got a failure. Quick connect is quite fool proof.
@@davo8955 lol that's alot here the one electric works every thing including powering the ABS. There is a optional 2nd electric line you can request for the advanced ABS system witch is rare with some empty connections for additional accessories and 2 air lines for the brakes
