He is committing a federal crime by impersonating a military service member, i did 12 years in the army and have had plenty of experience with uniform code of conduct. Places need to stop selling civilians uniforms, wether its a complete mock up uniform or actual SI. Im able to walk into an Army surplus and buy any uniform without showing a dd-214 or any sort of military id. Yes, I was in the navy for 3 years and got an honorable medical discharge but I do on random occasions stop in to random "audits" so to speak at military surplus stores. They really need to enforce the stolen valor more.
