PATIENCE! I've spent time doing design for retail, and working in a small-town design company, along with jobs that weren't at all related to design, but there's never been a time when I wanted to give up design and do something else. Now I've got a 3D-printed product that's taking off, but the 2D design experience informs the 3D design process, and it needs a logo, print materials, packaging, etc. I'm an owner of a tattoo studio and I'll never stop doing design! Thanks for sharing the process and not just the polished results!
Great video James! Thanks for your valuable content. I'm a young designer and lifelong artist at 26 years old. My goal is to combine my experience in dance with an equal passion for visual storytelling and self-expression. As an experienced creative professional, I have some questions for you. 1. How do you focus on one thing without neglecting other areas? 2. How do you manage trying to learn/grow in multiple areas while not getting overwhelmed? 3. How do you manage being patient with yourself, while still being proactive (and not beating yourself up)? 4. How are you able to be compassionate with yourself and stay creative while going through life's trials?
Love that you say sod designing made up projects and work on your own brand. I never wanted to work on made up stuff but felt conflicted because there are so many designers saying you must! Never again. I want a sick brand like MBJ and I love building stuff that I can be proud of, and clients can instantly recognise as being me (and want to invest in my work because of if). Cheers James 🙏
This is awesome! 🙌 Love the way you presenting and structuring your decks. It's packed with so much knowledge but still so digestable and easy to follow 😍 Thanks for sharing this with everyone and looking forward to the next ones! 😊
Great video! There are so many thing I agree with you and very excited that you sharing on youtube again. However I feel indifferent about the word talent. I like to believe most if not all skills can be learnt. I like the idea that our "gift" is in fact that we are interested in a specific thing and that is what gives us the drive to pursue it can in turn become masters of that skill. Then people see us after all the hard work and call that talent. When in fact it was acquired over time. Anyway this is just my experience and relationship with the word talent. Great video man. Keep it up!
Heck yeah! Anyone can get good at something with enough time, but it's a lot easier to spend that time on it when you're interested in that specific thing. People can say they're not "talented" but it either means they haven't found that strong interest, or they think their interest isn't special or artistic enough. I know people VERY talented with spreadsheets.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and what you’ve learned over the last decade 🙏🏻 I’m a graphic designer in a super unfulfilling job (have been working corporate jobs for the last decade) but listening to you inspires me that I can do something amazing with my gift Please keep posting videos like this!!
Thanks for the kind words, mate! 🙏🏻 It's amazing to hear that my journey inspires you. Remember, your gift has incredible potential. Keep believing in yourself and don't be afraid to chase your passion. I'll definitely keep posting more videos.
Thank you so much for your priceless knowledge & experience. We need your Wisdom. Please keep uploading regularly. Don't stop because of the views. You deserve more. I know you are not uploading these videos to get viral, because you are already Pretty much successful. I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Love you from Bangladesh...
