Springfield gas engine fuel injection

Explanation of how the fuel injection system works on Springfield gas engines. This particular 2hp engine is believed to have been built around 1904. The Type A engine design went on the market around 1894 or 95. While fuel injection had existed in some for about 20 years, the addition of the overhead camshaft made this a revolutionary engine design. Unfortunately it also made the engine very expensive to produce and likely forced the company out of business around 1906.
