In this video we continue along with upgrading my V0.2. Last time we worked on the toolhead as we converted it from the Mini StealthBurner to the DragonBurner, and this time its all about the bed. We go over both the Kirigami and the Kirigami UFO mod. We'll cover what they are, what goes into installing them, and I will give you my overall thoughts on each.

The most important thing I learned building my LDO 0.2 with a Kirigami bed is: "The Kirigami bed frame is made of metal, but may be bent out of spec during production, transport or mounting. You should check the measurements, parallelism and coplanarity (flat in respect to each other) of the frame before starting your assembly."
That’s a great recommendation. How obvious was yours out of spec?
@@ModBotArmy Not a lot, but even tiny adjustments lead to way better gliding on rails! I just haven’t expected it being so important.
This is amazing help for people trying out kirigami on the V0 for the first time. Mine was from Siboor and their bedframe was slightly out of shape and the paint they had put on it made the holes just a bit too tight. Running a drill through each hole and some manual bending against a sacrificial wooden board made mine fit perfectly
@@SweHam Mine was slightly noticeable after attempting to level it. Constant issues. Finally figured out it was warped.
Isn’t the whole point of the Kirigami the rigidit…. Never mind 🙄
The product page art for the Kirigami UFO is amazing
Right? I love it :)
Love the videos man.... You been killing it lately!
I appreciate the kind words 🙏. Enjoy your weekend and happy printing!
As always, great video! Tri-zero mod would be awesome to see %)
This is the kind of stuff that makes 3d printing fun again
❤ cool to see my PCB on CZcams! ❤
Thanks for making it :)
I picked up the Siboor 0.2 after watching Greg’s Maker Corner build one. I had heard about the Kirigami bed before hand so picked one up before I started the build. Worth it!! I had not heard of the UFO mod, but if the fan turns out to be worthwhile, I may consider it. I have all the parts for a Dragon Burner but haven’t done it yet. May do it all at same time. Thanks for the video!
Rad video, I’ll be doing this on my 0.1 when I upgrades it soon so glad to see what I’m in for.
To my knowledge none of the smaller Cable Chains V0s use have the open link version. So that is why you likely won’t see a fully assembled cable harness, it wouldn’t be possible to feed the microfit through the chain.
That’s interesting and clears up what the cable chains covers in the mod repository are for. They must be there so you can cut your cable chain in the center so that you can feed wires through the cover that opening after. They weren’t the right length for my chain but that may be something you would want to check out before starting. Not having to crimp after you feed it through would be much nicer.
There is a chain from Igus in this size that does not have movable flaps on the links, but rather slots. The printed parts are intended as a cover, as this slot would otherwise remain open.
E04.07.015.0
My “bed fans” approach was a pair of zerofilters mounted to the front extrusions, which pull from under and exhaust above. When the bed is near the nozzle, seems likely to be good enough.
Just installed a zeroclick probe this morning, It was very easy to assemble and the dragonburner has a duct designed for it as well, definitely recommend it if you hate levelling like i do
Voron v0.2? is it worth it?
@@gustavofrenk I haven't finished it yet but its going to replace my ender 3 for high temp printing, I mainly built it because its so small and enclosed out the box
I've recently been using a PRINT_START macro that waits for the chamber to reach temp. It can be set, but has a default tuned for each of my printers. (Since some actually get warmer than others.)
Adding 5015 bed fans to a 2.4 helps a lot with chamber temps
Thats the primary one I've seen. How many fans are you rocking? And what does your start up sequence look like when using them?
Same here. I've put two 5015 blowing underneath my 350mm bed on a 2.4. Certainly helps heating up the chamber and keeping the chamber temp more consistent.
I can definitely see the consistent part of it. Would be interesting to add another thermistor near the bottom and see how close the two are with and without the fan.
@@ModBotArmy 2 fans. I have a macro where they only run if the print is above 100°C from the slicer (so ABS, et Al). I think they run at 25% while the bed is heating up, and 60% once the bed reaches temp
@@ModBotArmy Fan blowing downwards and a thermistor at the bottom would be interesting. The basic idea of a fan blowing downwards is that in the start-up phase of the V0 all the hot elements are at the top and circulation in this direction seems sensible.
Did you have to add an expansion board to get chamber temps? I have the gemini v3 and I didn't think there's a spot for one on it.
I finished my v0 a few weeks ago, but hadn't heard of this mod at the time... Starting to think my v0 isn't actually finished now lo
vorons are never finished theyre like children always growing and changing
Lol this is so true. The 2.4 is the only one that I have left stockish but I have plans for it to.
Mini-fridge door mod next!
I've really been on the fence of building a voron, seeing this build series made me go ahead and build a 300³ 2.4
I have a 300mm 2.4 and love it. You’re gonna be super happy with it once it’s tuned.
@@ModBotArmy thanks to you, I also built the ender 5 mecury 1.1 conversion and was super happy with it, along with helping with getting me out of my comfort zone of building 3D printers as I would consider myself still a novice builder. Thank you again for covering these projects, you're incredibly inspiring.
I’m not new to 3d printing, but new to building printers. Can anyone suggest a good “all-in-one” place to learn about all of the ins and outs of building them? I’ve watched MANY build streams, but most of the time have no idea what the streamer is talking about when they refer to what parts they are using. Thanks in advance.
I have a 4010 blower under my v0 bed (24v60w) and i can only turn the fan on after the heater sat at 100c for a few minutes and only for 25% speed, else the thermistor triggers a thermal runaway because the fan is too strong. I would recommend 1 or 2 nevermore and to turn the hotend to 200c when beatsoaking. This got my soak time to unter 20min
My tip, turn it on as soon as the bed starts heating. The bed heats only slower, which doesn't concern klipper if its still within some limits, but if the temperature drops when its heating more than a few degrees, then thermal runaway is triggered. I can run my 4 60mm fans on my trident right away at full power (80m3/h combined, just so you are aware. A 5015 is good if it can do 9m3/h), but if i turn them on 100% during the heat up, runaway is triggered
Maybe another épisode of pimp my voron could be about XOL toolhead
Looking forward to the pimp my voron series..
I know I said only one more video but I though of a few more things. I'll likely combine them into the one.
There is never just one more thing. Especially the amount of cool mods out there. Your V0.2 is looking good.
Interesting insert press. Bought or made?
It’s the StealthPress! We built it on stream here czcams.com/users/livemqJDLKIEuqs?si=BC0aoUl-4YGxuI_V
Whats the main controller you are using?
It’s a fly Gemini v3
There are some better mods concerning the Z axis for a v0. Namely, converting to TriZero, F-Zero, or Pandora's box.
Oh yeah, I have been looking at Pandora's box for quite a long time now. However, those are substantial overhauls due to them needing 3 z motors and going the belted route along with a bed leveling setup like sideswipe. I'm a big fan but wanted to set some limits. I would love to do a Pandora's box but would start from a new frame. We may end up doing that on one of the other V0's if we do a full tear down.
@@ModBotArmy I've converted two v0 kits to PFAs - one is an F-Zero (super fun!), and the other is a Pandora's box. I love them both. I've not calculated which of the PFA machines (PB/Crucible/T0/H0) has the smallest/cheapest delta BOM from a stock v0, and also it may differ quite a bit between different base v0.x kits.
MasturMynd's masterpiece, the PB with its boxed frame is a super cool build and should be easy to build using the 100mm 1515s taken from the bed carriage of a v0/v0.1 as extensions for the uprights (attached using long set screws), but those 100mm extrusions don't exist in most v0.2 kits.
In any case, the biggest bonuses are the z-tilt adjustment and automatic bed tramming, plus the Pandora gantry (also possible as extrusionless X!) is extremely good and provides larger X and Y travel. Consider using Boop or Zruncho3d's new Poke as bed probe, coupled with ZeroPanels to finish and enclose the build.
Look into it; I'm certain it'll be one of your next projects. :)
Me having 0 lights installed on the V0: hmmm interesting
Rumor has it that it increases max flow... Can neither confirm nor deny.
@@ModBotArmyMy flow has already been increased by the cat ear on the dragonburner, I don't think it would increase more
@@youtubehandlesux ooh wow yeah the cat ears would have maxed you out. 🐈
@@ModBotArmyNah, not really. Wait till I design a cat ear tophat and cat paws mod, this thing gonna travel through time and print a benchy before I press the print button
