Anthony Bourdain | TIME Magazine Interviews | TIME
/ timemagazine - Zábava
Being a dishwasher now and for several months, it's really comforting to know someone like Anthony Bourdain was in my position.
My first job as well. 1.10 an hour. Ran away from home at 16 and never looked back. Great pride in my first job.
He not arrogant at all, if anything he's one of the most humble ppl on tv, he shows genuine respect to all locals wherever he goes. He's a good ambassador for Americans.
Well he admitted in the video he's arrogant
He helps me to understand my dear son.
RIP my son.
Exactly. Arrogant? No. Him even admitting his arrogance is proof of him not being arrogant.
Tony Bourdain is one of my heroes. His show has inspired me soo hard with accepting culture, food, lifestyles. Definitely an awesome guy from my NY area.
I love and miss this man so much. He was so talented, giving, generous and humble. Glad I have his DVDs and books to make me smile.
I love his honesty.... Not arrogant
I will miss him. so much, my heart breaks for his daughter and loved ones,,,We Needed you Tony!
I miss him so much...probably the only public celebrity death that truly upset me. What some call arrogance is pure honesty, humbleness and rawness that you probably can't chew on ❤❤❤😢😢😢 R.I.P. legend
Thank you for expressing your views on our dear dear Mr Bourdain. I share your despair that we longer see him in anything new now or ever. Anthony was a master of embracing culture and food, in one.
the guy is a national treasure in america.
Us foodies, chefs, cooks, dishwashers and fanatics embrace him and his crew. Thank you Tony.
Rest in Peace Anthony, 1956-2018.
i really respect this man. His life story is inspiring, coming from new jersey living a drugged out life on heroin, acid, cocaine etc. and finding the will to get a job as a dishwasher then climbing the ranks to head chef and eventually to a famous author/star. i think thats a well lived life and he DESERVES his travels around the world.
wow to that last question. i hope he ate his favorite last thing before he left.
he will be missed foreal.
love this guy right here!
everything he does is pure genius!
Miss this wonderful man & his zest for life. He is greatly missed.
I'm not a chef. I don't know how to cook. But Anthony Bourdain is my personal hero.
he is soo cool, got his own style and natural, tahts what i like about him.
i love him. glad to see he was included in this series. fantastic! he is great!
I reread his book Kitchen Confidential recently. He was so funny, and such a gifted writer. I really miss is programs. His last endeavor on CNN was excellent. RIP.
i'm glad anthony bourdain made it out of his 20s, to share the world with us, but saddened he left us before his 80s
Michael Choe Before his 60s even. :(
this guy is real as hell
I like that he sticks to the sushi bit every time he's asked about a last final meal. That was a thing about Tony, his consistency. Completely Despised the inauthentic, and always practiced what he preached.
You signed my book back in 2004, and gave me some kind advice.
I hope you are in a better spot.
Thanks
I agree with him with how American vegetarians and vegans are doing their lifestyles wrong. The man praised the original vegetarians in India. I appreciate that.
I love antony, he's very interesting
Kind of ridiculously in love with him.... all my friends laugh at me
Still feel the same after 8 years?
@@onyxrainify I'm in love with him now.
what i like about tony is he is both low brow and high brow
I absolutely love how candid his answers are. You've gotta respect that kind of honesty. I got a kick out of how he says that Rachael genuinely offends him, and how he just quit smoking but he doesn't want to encourage anyone to quit cuz it's cool, lol.
P.S. You kick ass, you sexy punk rock chef, you!!!!! =D
RIP Mr.Bourdain
Love this guy
I found him so very attractive & BadAss.
Very bright aswell.
Read the book "Kitchen Confidential" anthonys first book(by the way it is pure genious) he wrote it way before any
Fame But this book is what broke him
Into fame. This year
Is the books 10th anniversary
The coolest cat ever mr Bourdain!!!!!!
Robert Downy Jr. would be a PERFECT actor to play a role as Anthony Bourdaine
I love this guy,pass the bong and lets eat!!
omg! i love this man ,love his show .hes to the point and does not hold back. travel the world eat all kinds of great food.He is sooo GQ!
i listen to rock n roll and love food,smoke cigarretes,and travel im an indiviual: chefs like tony
@ryanmj1993
so the last 15 minutes of the episode was him going to that dude's house in mexico, bringing good word and some gifts, and basically being a messenger for this guy, all because he made him good sushi. a mexican. serving sushi good enough to impress bourdain. in a sushi bar. in southwest texas.
He quit smoking wow, thanks for sharing.
He is the man.
We love you and will never forget you..u were beautiful!
Awww. I love Tony.
All the best, Tony :)
we all live vicariously through him so its all good (still fucking jealous of his last shows in burgundy and emilia romagna!). I also dont think hes that arrogant compared to other big personalities, and also, what the hell! he has reasons to be arrogant. whats ridiculous is when a no mark displays arrogance without having actually accomplished anything of note. You know, like me or many other big talkers on youtube, but tony is the real deal, he can flaunt it a little
Tony is very cool! He is very vocal on what he thinks...And I respect him! Cool Tony!!! : )
I agree with him in every way in regards to Rachel Ray...every single way...and I'm a woman!
I love Anthony, I think in Anthonys case, what is seen as arrogance is a passion for food. Rachel Ray is allright, no beef with her, but because of Anthony I want to be more daring with the food I eat, I want to explore and choose to dislike something because it has been in my mouth and not because it just looks gross to me. I see this man as being real, a real person who is unashamed of the hell that he has been through, and unashamed to have survived it. He is the real deal. Bravo for him.
@fardisghomeshi I take it you know about his 27 years of restaurant cooking prior to 2001, right? At one point he was controlling 4 kitchens... in different places on this planet.
I fuken love this guy...
This guy never stops drinking, travels the world, has a hot wife, has his own show, and eats amazing food, I love Bourdain
Life is sure unpredictable! 😢
All health concerns aside for a sec, yes I am a girl and I don't give a flying f*** that he smokes, it was very much part of him, but he decides to quit then whatever, that's also part of Bourdain's personality. Love this guy and have all his books and just ordered all the DVDs available and am seriously suffering from withdrawal now...
RIP Anthony
God I miss this guy
@ryanmj1993
yo man i knock ray because i am a chef, but if she inspires you to eat a healthy tasty diet, fuck what i or Chef Bourdain thinks. But yeah, check out a couple episodes of No Reservations, and you may come to like the man. He's not all bluff and bluster. He does show that he has a heart. There was one episode where he was in texas, and a mexican was actually his sushi chef. the guy couldn't get back home or the time til he could be a citizen would reset.
lol @ Rachael Ray
@ryanmj1993
i guess technically i should correct myself. im a cook not a chef, i don't have a culinry arts degree either, i've just humped it on the line through many a dinner and lunch rush
@freedbymyself
a fucking men brother. i live in central pa, there's a plethora of amish folks and mennonites, and farmers and butchers around that sell stuff very reasonably. 35 bucks a week feeds me very well on peasant food. and besides, good solid stick to the ribs grub is very very satisfying. keep on keepin!
3:28 Bourdain, essence of cool
@ryanmj1993
which is an emotional response that i may not agree with but i can understand. fact is though culinary arts is as much science as art, just like my own art of glassblowing, and he's got some of the best education on the planet. i'd rather suffer through what i feel is ego and bullshit to get the good info, but then again i actually have been a line cook, and actually AM capable of working with tough guys. sorry for being so abrasive towards you.
I like his `I don`t care what y`all thinkin` I`m my own man` additude....Would love to travel and eat with ya Tone!! xxx. When are you coming to Holland?
Fay King Unfortunately, never again! Anthony, RIP!
Depression kills...
man aged a lot in the last ten years. just an observation
Probably previous life of drug use and alcohol abuse. He turned his life around but that stuff ages you when abused for a long time
Didn't he go to Vassar College?
lmfao "Loserville". Miss him
1:50
wait was that 10 questions?
RIP
He is a bit arrogant nowadays but he's still pretty real
@boo6ie21
i actually mix it with a bit of garlic and some butter, makes a delicious spread, and people ask me what i just used and they shit themselves, they dunno whether to hit me for tricking them or beg me for more lol
I love him. Why is having an opinion arrogant?
He's smart, articulate, opinionated and most importantly he values good food. Let's face it Rachael Ray is a corporate lap dog, who sells product, not food. So for someone who spent his life as a Chef it's not surprising he rags on her.
Coq Au Vin not difficult? Come on Anthony. haha.
Still love you though.
He also condemned the Clintons in his last interview, so the leftists at TIME would not have liked that.
Everyone who inspres me killed themselves--Deleuze, Greg Plitt, David Foster Wallace, Anthony Bourdain. I could go on.
I bet he was drunk on that interview haha :D
shes good at with what she does. even though its wrong. lol.
I pray he had this last meal.
His last meal 3:40
@OM3N1R
DUDE! Coq Au Vin is NOT ROCKET SCIENCE! just takes focus.
If anyone wants to know the real reason he killed himself. It wasn't because of manic depression. It was because his girlfriend Asia was cheating on him with a french photographer Hugo Clement.
An italian newspaper snapped photos of them hugging and holding hands. 5 days after that Bourdain hung himself. He said she was the most important thing in his life. Bourdain didn't die because of ongoing depression. He died from a broken heart.
Rose McGowen tried to swell things over by claiming they had an "open relationship" because she knew they would start blaming his GF. That's B.S because Anthony who loved her that much would never want to compromise his true love to just share it with someone else. Then McGowen blames Bourdain for not going to the doctor and his "depression" was the reason for his suicide. McGowen so biased. If the guy cheated on the girl and the girl killed herself, she would be flipping out about guys.
Here's the article.
pagesix.com/2018/06/12/paparazzo-who-snapped-asia-argento-with-french-reporter-regrets-shots/
Google pictures of Asia and Clement.
Poor Bourdain, my sympathy goes out to him. Love is powerful.
Amen
Closet Grasshopper no pics in your link. I found some pics in internet nothing really serious. He was a very strong man, something is not right here, body was cremated. We will never know. RIP Anthony!
A broken heart might have exacerbated things but he was fighting his own demons too.
@MadelineTopper yup he was pretty candid about his substance abuse struggles and depression. And dont forget the divorce from his mothers child was quite hard on him too
I don't understand how you can be a "big fan of his" and find him disgusting and destructive at the same time.
I don't think he's that arrogant I find him entertaining if anything
add a piece of lechon pig skin to that last meal Tony!
Seems like he let himself go after he became famous.
@t3tsuya
toro? gimme...
whats wrong with that?
1:55 Laura Bee, really?
True, he can come off as arrogant sometimes but his attitude to the crux of the subject matter is rarely anything less than insightful and intelligent. i would have stopped watching a long time ago if he had a displaced sense of perspective.
as a programme about both travel and cuisine, no reservations eclipses anything from either category.
im a guy and nobody cares what you think
jeffrey epstein
@ryanmj1993
dude thats insane. thats like saying you want your neighbor to teach you differential equations because he does his own taxes instead of a NASA rocket scientist. i don't care if its bourdain or someone else with an MCA... i don't care if its Rachel Ray or someone else without one... its just not logical.
Lol Tony..nobody like you Sir.
I do like him, however he is completely off the mark regarding Rachel Ray. I have never seen her encourage anyone to buy process or partially process food, including pre-chopped onions. Quite to opposite. The whole idea behind 30 min meals was she was showing people you can prepare real food from scratch in the time it take to get pizza delivered.
I'm a big fan of his, but his values are disgusting and destructive. He's entertaining but also a bad influence. He has a careless stoner attitude.
