    When you see an A320 wing dancing around like this one on departure, you know you're getting some pretty solid bumps!

    1:21:00 Now, that is one ginormous pile of dirt. They must have some really big ants in Phoenix. ;) Also, any idea what the cause of that ongoing noise was? Never heard an Airbus make that noise before.

    • @xvlp
      @xvlp Před 2 lety +1

      yeah that noise made it hard to listen to the sound of the plane's engines

    • @QuickBurn70
      @QuickBurn70 Před 2 lety +1

      Old airplane (inherited from Northwest).. probably an ill-fitting panel or something bent, making some noise in the wind during high angle-of-attack situations.. like takeoff & landing

    • @sla31
      @sla31  Před 2 lety

      Hahaha. That's a good one.
      I honesty don't know what it was that was making the strange noise. I'd never heard an Airbus sound like that either, but as QuickBurn70 mentioned, this was a OLD plane at this point. It could have been any number of ill-fitting panel or worn out part.

    Ahh Phoenix, we stayed there on vacation twenty years ago, when the temperature was over 100F on a daily basis, WOW it was hot! My overriding memory however, was being hospitalised with pneumonia a week after getting back to the UK, wouldn't recommend it, very nasty :-( Nice one again B (apart from that damn irritating noise lol), hope you're all safe and well, regards P :-)

    It looked the plane was struggling after take off to get up but also looked a bit turbulent. That was a noisy take off.

    Hi what rig do you use to hold your camera on the window? Is there a brand you prefer?

    • @sla31
      @sla31  Před 2 lety +2

      Unfortunately, the mounts I use are very VERY exclusive. You could say they're limited edition. Only two have been produced, and there is no way to make more. That would be my left or right arm/hand, depending on which side of the aircraft I sit on. Despite trying out dozens of different mounts, nothing ever matches the quality of footage you get when you hold the camera by hand. The main problem with mounts is that vibrations from the aircraft get transferred through the mount, into the camera. The footage then looks like you're filming through a clear bowl of jello. So, I hold the camera by hand, even on the long flights I upload. I have one of these: www.rammount.com/part/RAM-B-166-UN10U that I use to shoot time-lapses with. It's a GREAT mount, but still have vibration issues.

    Nice video, curious what you do for a living to require all of these flights?

    • @sla31
      @sla31  Před 2 lety +3

      Believe it or not, what I do for a living has nothing to do with what you see on this channel, or travel at all. I do work in the aviation industry, but it is in airport operations and aircraft rescue fire fighting, and I’m based at one airport. Everything you see on my channel is paid for out of my own pocket, and is done on my free time. I dedicate a large amount of money every year, and an even larger amount of time to keep this channel going. So, I greatly appreciate everyone who takes the time to watch, like, comment and subscribe!

    Great fly! Do you usually book through airline or booking sites. If yes, which one?

    • @sla31
      @sla31  Před 2 lety +1

      100%, all the time, with no exceptions, through the airlines own websites. I never, and I always implore everyone else, to never book tickets or flights through third party booking sites. Sites like Expedia, Orbitz, Kayak, etc., are almost never actually "cheaper" and if they are, it's because it's a bulk ticket or extremely restricted ticket. And those are tickets you DO NOT want to touch with a 10 foot pole. Always buy your tickets directly from the airline.

    Hey, has United Express changed your seat in the past? I'm flying with them next week and am worried that will happen.

    • @sla31
      @sla31  Před 2 lety

      Yes, they have. Pretty much every airline I've ever flown on a regular basis has changed my seats for some reason. Even Alaska Airlines, who I love, changed my seat on one of my flights this week. It's just something that happens from time to time, and it's in all the airlines terms and conditions that they can do that for a multitude of reasons. Now, it happens pretty rarely, even when I'm flying almost weekly. So, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

    • @SkyvatorProductions
      @SkyvatorProductions Před 2 lety

      @@sla31 I talked to an AA agent on the phone. He told me the number one reason AA changes seats is to seat families together so that kids don't sit alone. This makes perfect sense. He also said that many people don't select their seats, so the system spreads families out on the plane. It explains why my seat was changed. He did say gate agents avoid this, but sometimes they don't have a choice.
      With this said, summer travel is over, so I don't think I'll have any issues next week flying to Denver. The first flight is to El Paso, but on Southwest. The second flight is to Denver on United Express.

    • @sla31
      @sla31  Před 2 lety

      @@SkyvatorProductions Yeah, I've had that excuse given to me multiple times, by multiple airlines. Which I understand, but at the same time, it's kind of the parents responsibility to make sure of that when they buy the tickets. If they're too cheap and bought basic economy tickets with no seat assignments, and then get upset when they don't get seated next to each other, they kind of brought that on themselves. Oh well, what are you going to do? Weight and balance is another reason you get moved a lot, but that usually happens more on the smaller planes.

    • @SkyvatorProductions
      @SkyvatorProductions Před 2 lety

      @@sla31 I just checked the seat map now for both flights, and now both flights are at 85% capacity. I still have an entire row to myself, but that may soon change. Though summer travel is over, why are flights still full? I have to assume it's business people at this point. I also hope a mother with a lap child does not sit next to me. Can mothers with lap children also cause a seat switch?
      Sorry for asking these questions, it's now something new I worry about ever since it happened to me.
