- My first countdown video was about the seventh entry in the Fire Emblem series and my favourite characters from said game. I thought it was time I followed it up with a sequel on the next game in the Elibe timeline.
With over 50 characters to choose from, Binding Blade has one of the largest casts in the series, but with so many people clamoring for your attention, not all of them are going to leave an impression. That being said, those who did have ended up becoming some of my favourites in the entire series.
Please note that my choices are purely based on my own personal preferences, I am in no way declaring these to be the best characters in the game.
After making two voice-over countdown videos, I've decided to try out making one in my usual style. Let's see how this goes.
As this game has yet to receive an official translation, the names of these characters may be inconsistent, and in some cases, even if an official English name has already confirmed, the unofficial name is too lodged into my head to name them anything different.

Ironically, Pent's magic growth is the same as Clarine's. Obviously Pent was sniffing ground-up power rings to get his base magic. Clarine said no to drugs like a good girl.

No, it is because Pent's teacher is Archsage Athos. You can imagine how hard to be his student, you are not qualified to leveled up if your Magic not raised up so basically Athos is one of people who defying the power of RNG God.
And you can imagine Pent is frightened to the bones if his ass got wiped out by the Forblaze.
Pent is just affected by the curse of a prepromote, although for some reason he has unusually good defense growth for his class
This sounds weird, but I could listen to the Fire Emblem GBA sound effects all day. They're just so satisfying for some reason.

My Clarine had 4 magic at level 20 troubador. it's hard to forget that in my first playthrough.

Samuel Flores Mine had 16 for a level 20 tier 2 first time I used her, but she did cap speed, skill and luck.
She very rarely got hit, she was great at avoiding.
Mind got max speed, skill, luck, and resist has a level 20 troubador. I think I accidentally took your stat growths.

For me, Dieck was a monster from beginning to end. I had him pretty much solo half or more of the bosses in the game, and giving him the Durandal was so unnecessary but SO satisfying watch him one shot anything that wasn't a general.

Binding Blade has some of my favorite characters in the series. Lilina, Rutger, Sue, Milady... Not to mention Zephiel is a badass
Binding Blade was the first Fire Emblem game I ever played, and it will always have a special place in my heart. Roy was the entire reason I got into Fire Emblem in the first place because I loved his character in Super Smash Bros so much that I wanted to get the game he was originally from. He might be one of the weakest lords in the series, but he will always be my favorite character, and him and Lilina will always be my favorite couple in the series.

I really don't get why so many people think Roy is a bad lord, I don't think he is. He was way stronger on some playthroughs than Eliwood was for me in FE7. Must be really unlucky with their leveling, or maybe I just got really lucky with mine, because on my very first playthrough of Binding Blade most of Roy's stats maxed out at the end of the game, besides RES. (I did use an HP, DEF, and 1 RES upgrades on him to max those stats, and RES was the only stat that wasn't full maxed out, at 23.)
Roy was by far one of the best units in the game for me, he could Solo a lot of missions.
Saber Yeah, the main issue people have is the super late promotion... imo I blame it on bad game design, and not on the character himself. They could have let him level beyond 20 until he got promoted, I mean certain other units could do it so I don't see why Roy couldn't have.

You said Lilina was treated kinda like a protagonist? Turns out she originally was one in a earlier alpha build of the game, and she was available in the first chapter with Roy. If she died it was game over. It's interesting, I wonder what the game would of been like if they kept the idea in the final prodcut.

Is like Fire Emblem and Roy have a bi polar relationship. He gets the coolest weapon in the game that can shoot fire from away, but he only upgrades wayyyy late. Then they put him on smash :D and he looks super cool, but competitively he is garbage D: Fire emblem heroes comes out, then they make his sword of seals give +2 def/res instead of you know, shoot fire? Oh but hector, yeah he can attack from affar, yep 100% accurate. If they remake this game i am sure he wont even class change anymore RIP Roy.

If IS ever makes a remake, the most important thing is a do over for Roy. Stats, growths, promotion, character. At least his design is cool.
Martin Papos I think that if a remake of Binding Blade would be made, I would turn Roy into only character in the game with three-tier promotion, to compensate for getting the Binding Blade very late in the game. Roy would start out as a Junior Lord (Like Celice from FE4), with only 10 levels to grow (the first promotion would happen after chapter 8, or 8x). Then promotes in to the normal Lord class, with the usual 20 levels to grow. I would also make it so that if you make it to 21x, Roy would be promoted to the Master Lord by then, in order gain levels.

For me roy should start as a lord and on chapter 17 or 18(i think he received the fire emblem in this chapters) promote to great lord having 10 level ups and promote a third time when he gets the sword of seals, his third class would be sealed lord

Few thoughts:
-Perceval was my main Paladin in the game, replacing Alan. Those Hard Mode bonuses are pretty awesome.
-Rutger was my main man during the early maps, being one the few characters to effectively double and leave a large amount of damage to the enemy, especially on Hard Mode (the others being Dieck and Marcus.) Once I promoted him, he ended up massacring almost every enemy in the map.
-Miledy became my main flyer, replacing both Tate and Thany (ironic, since the former also has Hard Mode bonuses.) I used her in conjunction with Zeiss; nearly all enemies in the maps were decimated under the lances of these two together.
-Your Clarine happens to be Magic blessed. My Clarine only had 3 Magic before promotion.
-Lilina's 75% Magic growth meant that she had super high Magic (she capped her Magic stat even before promotion.) Although her other stats leave more to be desired about (oddly enough, in Hard Mode, my Lilina was Speed blessed. By the time the game ended, she's a Level 14 Sage with 24 Speed. Her Skill is only 15, but Anima Magic is accurate as f*ck, so it doesn't affect me too much.) My Lilina in Normal mode normally has 15 Speed only.
Git's Clarine wasn't magic blessed at all, his was average Clarine. Yours was massively RNG screwed to have only 3 magic before promoting.

Me: I love it when no one ever realizes that Lugh exists. At least I'm not 100% alone in preferring Lugh's guaranteed double nuke over Lilina's singular Tsar Bomba.
I know Lugh is definitely the better mage of the two, but there's a certain *ahem* magic about Lilina that makes me enjoy using her so much.

You forgot to add that her support with Roy is EXTREMELY fast and gives her I believe 15% crit and a bit of skill (she needs it)... Watching Lilina decimate everyone with thunders is so satisfying!!!
i like roy just not as much as others though. mostly like him because he is not gullible/naive and is clever though i agree with you lilina should have been the main character:)
Blue kirby716 so true. Unlike most protagonists that have to suffer from terrible fates in order to grow up (or ended up dead like Sigurd). Roy simply beats the crap out of any tough enemies that stand against him. There isn't even any cinematic defeats at all. Too bad his game stats don't reflect his real strength. Roy's combat capability is supposed to be among the best, consider how strong characters such as Parcival, Murdock, and Zephiel acknowledge him as a formidable warrior.
Let's face it, Lilina's personality fits so much more with Florina's than any other possible mothers....Even though i like Hector/Lyn a bit more

Lilina is also my favourite in Binding Blade. Being the daughter of Hector, arguably the best Lord of FE7 is one thing, but Lilina definitely inherited her father's "RAWR" in terms of outright damage if not his boisterous personality (who oddly enough does resemble the shrinking violet of Florina...). She's cute as a button, adorable personality and while Roy is like a cardboard cutout, Lilina has ton of character not only with her support with Roy but also with Wendy, Cecilia and even with Gonzalez. No wonder she remains even popular in FE Heroes.
In FE6 her speed growth is paramount of her being a good character to a flat out broken character. As you said, FE6 has notorious hit rates on pretty much all weapons that isn't Anima magic. While this greatly helps Lilina since her skill growth is meh, her low HP & DEF means she relies exclusively on her dodge to not die, but she'll kill anything that she fires back against. In most of my playthroughs she has been a mainstay of my front-line and being a Sage means she also gives healing power which greatly helps in Hard mode. Like her father did for Eliwood, Lilina definitely carried my army (and Roy) for much of the game.
Were the fuck is Gonzales? Come on,give love to Gonzales. The only Brigand you can use in the GBA Fire Emblem Games and really whort it. And dont forget about Dieck. (I know is your opinion...BUT IS GONZALES MEN)
From what I've seen, Gonzalez has a bit of a mixed reception in the fandom because of how bad his accuracy is, especially in Binding Blade where weapon accuracy is particularly poor.
Gonzales, Dieck and Geese, pure brutality.
Yeah,their Skill is awful and dont get better,but in the other stats is perfect (and Secret Books/Suports solve the skill problem). Also,in the Lore is one of the best character,having the best suports and even ONE with Lilina. (My opinion,is just my opinion).

Most units are OK in this game, so only Tana made it here gameplay wise.

I know all her mothers are fragile, Hector’s daughter should be at least *a little* tanky, even if it’s just compared to the other mages...

My personal top 5 would probably be:
5- Chad. He might not be a good combat unit but I like him for his personality. Also lilina died a few times from a berserk crit from him.
4- Echidna. I love her design and she's my dedicated Armads user in this playthrough
3- Raigh. I like to think that Lugh is right about him and he really is kind. Also tied with canas for my favorite playable dark magic user
2- Miledy. She's powerful and she's going to use the Maltet. I also really like her and have read her and Lugh's supports multiple times (even though I didn't get them in game) because I think they are pretty good.
1- Lugh. I don't know if it's the Nino bias or what but I love this kid. He's one of my strongest units but he also has a quite interesting personality in my opinion. His supports can be really interesting.

I think Clarine has bad magic because of Louise, she's basically an archer that got raised as a Troubadour, which is hella funny.

Any chance you still reading this comment section? I found your channel the other month and I love it since I'm replaying all of the GBA games. My Lilina turned out pretty poor in my current and last run in FE6. Like 1 or 2 speed up's in 9 levels. That's why I always needed to bench her so far.

17:00 I feel obligated as someone who knows how to math to say that Miledy only gained 16 points of bonuses. Whilst that's still pretty great, that's nowhere NEAR the 25 points that was mentioned! Either results varied a LOT there, or some information was incorrect.
Still, enjoyable video. It's always nice to see another person's well thought-out opinion on a game like this.
And I feel obligated to point out you didn't count the HP boost.
whoisthisgit, my apologies good sir. It is a bad habit of mine to ignore the HP stat in general. And yes, taking into account HP it does make 25 points. My miscalculation was entirely my fault.

It's okay. Sorry if I came across as rude, a lot of Fire Emblem players have a habit of jumping on any mistake someone makes, so I'm defensive around them.
For anyone who didn't get the "Mighty No. 9" joke, it is a not-so-good game released in 2016 and its creator (was believed to have) commented on his own game that "even if it's not perfect, it's better than nothing" in an interview. So basically what git meant by "it's Mighty No. 9" is "it's better than nothing".
I am RNG blessed for having a Clarine with 26MGC, 23SKL, 25SPD, and 30LCK for a 20/17 unit :o

Wow, I got four out of five predictions on this one right (I actually thought you might like Saul more than Clarine), the only thing I wasn't sure of was the order of them. Yeah, can't argue with these choices, I like using all these characters as well.
Lilina was a fucking beast once well trained. She was clearly the best char of my party. She took down so many boss easily, even Zephiel and Idoun.

Thracia is way way way too cryptic about everything, and fates has one of the worst stories in the series.

Remembering my first fe6 gameplay I had Saul and Clarine healing most of the time, latter on I had them and also Ray and Lillina healling everyone who was fighting, come to hink of it I always have my magic users healing most of the time rather that fighting
