    John I was trying to watch how your marked the cam, couldn’t really see in the slotted area, great video

      Don't worry about it Paul it wasn't necessary just me wanting to know where it was before I took it apart. It ends up in the same pace anyway. 😁

    Thanks John much appreciated! Great lighting, explanation and resource. As a semi professional screw head butcher that tip on the JIS is gold. When I’ve done a few more miles on the engine, I’ll think about the high compression 650 or maybe a 750 rebore.

    Nice work there John. Thanks for the tips re JIS screws (completely unexpected), head bolt washers and camchain adjuster. I'll be attempting my HC piston/camshaft swap out in the very near future and this is a great 'how to' video, so Im watching with interest and cant wait for the next installments. Keep up the good work buddy.

      Don't say that , everything is in the shop Manual if you don't have the manual I have it saved on my file sever copy and past down below . Try smaller jobs to work up confidence for bigger jobs , This is the biggest job yet on this bike 😄 www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/3347a42u45y9md17hn1ru/Service-Manual-P-Model.pdf?rlkey=bjh9o89g6c0miziux94mc0fdq&fbclid=IwAR0CeoRAyQI79QFEexxm70rh0JBcsztZPD-SpiqW7EGUD4EN8DyvRbhzyh8&dl=0

      Great video.
      Real interested to see how it all turns out, I was considering the S&S cam but hadn’t really thought about the high compression pistons.
      So far so good 👌

    Excellent information. Other than added cost why did you go this way instead of 850 kit?

    • @johnk7814
      @johnk7814  Před 6 měsíci

      Well if your going to put a Cam in you might as well go with the high compressoin pistons you have it apart anyway. As far as keeping the bike a 650 just wanted to make video's going this route cause you don't really see much on this. And keeping the cost down as well others might be interested in it.

      @@johnk7814 I agree if your doing a cam you might as well do other stuff. What benefits and or downfalls are there with the high compression pistons? Performance , gas mileage, heat, longevity?

    • @johnk7814
      @johnk7814  Před 6 měsíci +2

      Modest increase of horse power and torque is expected I believe HP to be in mid 50's not sure on the torque but will be very noticeable . It's a great bike I just like a little more 😃Down falls are nothing to really be concerned about, the 650 HP pistons are 40grams each heavier then the stock, 300 grams stock as opposed to 340 grams for the HP versions so they'er might be very slightly more vibrations but don't think I'll feel it. But if you go bigger then 650 that may be more of a issue. This is the more economical to a already a good bike. If you wanted a much faster bike they're are plenty of other bikes to buy. As far as gas milage I don't know with the added power might make me a little harder on the throttle 😆 Going big bore you could be spending twice as much so I think this is the way to go . Also I can do all the work myself which makes it fun for me. I also have a power commader 6 to fit to the bike @@silverback3926

    Hey John, curious on the condition of the ports. Worthwhile doing them? Cheers

    • @johnk7814
      @johnk7814  Před 6 měsíci +1

      They are fine I inquired about having the head ported by S&S but it's not going to be worth it for when keeping it a 650.Seems to be only woth it when you are going to larger pistons that move more air..So I will be just leaving that alone.🙂

      @@johnk7814 thanks! When TEC changed the cam, he said something about testing it before and after porting, so maybe he thought it would help. Don’t think there’s a follow up video though.

    • @johnk7814
      @johnk7814  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Your right I never saw a continuation of that video, he changed the cam without taking the head off the motor. I know a guy in Austrailia who had a cam put in without have the head removed as well . Glad I took mine of to clean all the carbon build up plus I kinda had to to put in those pistons. Today I filmed lapping the valves in the head with this hack I saw on CZcams 😁 Made a disison to paint the cylinder head satin black to match the cylinder base.@@collyernicholasjohn

    Wouldn't these jobs be so much easier if only there was just a little more space, or we had smaller hands?!?!
    👍😁

    • @johnk7814
      @johnk7814  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Yes it would , I wanted to take the engine out to make access easier but don't have the special tools to remove the rear mounts that have the frame adjusters in them.😣 but I'll do it anyway 4 hands instead of two would help too.😁

    Hi John thanks for sharing this video
    Im thinking of doing the same on my 2021 interceptor
    i already have the new head bolts and S&S cam
    Do you know if the ecu will need a reflash or will the motor still run ok without after the conversion
    Cheers
    Mark

    • @johnk7814
      @johnk7814  Před 6 měsíci +2

      The motor will run but you should get a power commander 6 or the powertronic piggy back ECU to handle fueling and in the case of powertronic it does ignition as well . I’m putting in a power commander . You need the two gaskets as well the base gasket and the cylinder gasket .and the chain tensioner gasket as well.

      @@johnk7814 Thanks John
      im looking forward to seeing the progress on your engine plus how you find the new setup in comparison to standard
      Ive seen a youtube video of a standard compression 650 with just the s&s cam swap and the rider was very impressed with the way the motor pulled
