Swan Song

Here's a recording of my work as a classical composer. This is a one-movement work for clarinet, two violas, and cello. It was performed on 5/15/12 for part of my composition recital. Big thanks to everyone involved.
Description:
Traditionally a swan song is a metaphor used for a person's last production before they retire or die. The term comes from an ancient Greek belief that the Mute Swan, which is normally unable to call, would sing one beautiful song before its death. This piece is not my swan song, but an elaborate depiction of the old myth. The swan starts singing, but is challenged by death dancing onto the stage. With death's first sting, the swan collapses in shock, but rises again to begin a long and bloody battle for life. But as fate goes, death strikes the creature down, and the swan's spirit ascends in peace.
