100 Days Of Sweat, an idea formed by Ammar Kandil from Yes Theory, has helped me understand habit formation like never before. Want to know how you can make new habits in 2019 or break old ones? I think learning the science behind habits and how habits work is key to getting started at forming new habits. What are habits? What happens in your brain when you form a habit? What's the neuroscience of habits? I explore all of these questions with the help of Yes Theory's own Ammar Kandil!
A while ago, I started a journey called 100 days of sweat. For 100 days I would do the bare minimum of exercising until I sweat. A challenge, but also an experiment in trying to make habits. I was inspired by Yes Theory and Ammar from Yes Theory, who created #100daysofsweat over on his Instagram. And it’s been an incredible ride so far.
I want to thank Yes Theory and Ammar Kandil for letting me work with them on this project and can't wait to collaborate again! They're amazing guys and have an incredible philosophy that they're spreading across the world, with the help of the their Yes Theory Fam and Family, so use the link above and check out their channel!

*SO IT'S 2019!* 🍾🍾🍾 Sorry for the quiet January guys, this video was pretty huge! I hope you like it!
The Yes Theory IGTV video will be out very soon, I'll keep you lovely lot posted! Here's to a great year with some great content! 🙌🙌🙌
@Josh Chen Not at all mate, cross-post it wherever! Thanks :)
Aspect Science Can u make a vid on stopping procrastinating, it would really help..😗
This video is going to BLOW UP!
Haha! Thanks man! Glad you like it dude! I'm checking your new video out tomorrow!
MA MANGO IS TO BLOW UP!
Hopefully
Dude, this video was incredible (as most of your videos are). The facts seemed well research, the editing was incredible, and the camera angles were astounding. Well worth the wait!
"Well worth the wait" means so much to me! Thanks for saying that. From now on though, every two weeks. :) Stoked you enjoyed it! :D
Huh. That thing about only changing up the routine actually seems smart. I'll definitely try to remember that next time I find myself procrastinating.
I agree! When I first read it it was like something just clicked in my head and it made sense! Give it a go, let me know how you get on!
I think you’re right. I’ve been trying to change too much too fast. If I try to set a keystone habit, it could help a lot.
Thanks so much! As always, the editing is superb, and the visuals are stylish and slick.
Awesome! If this video can have an impact on just one person, like yourself, then job done :) Have a go with it and let me know how you get on!
How has it gone with your habits now?
You should make a podcast!
There may be one on the works....🤫
@@TommoCarroll oohh that would be amazing! Waiting eagerly for that!
@@TommoCarroll
Don't worry... I can wait.
Great vid, as per usual with you. Your dedication to making these great videos a habit is awfully inspiring. Keep up the fantastic work, man!
Thanks so much for the kind words! This video did take a lot of work, so I really appreciate it!!!
Oh snap I wasn't expecting such quality of production!!
I feel like I know his whole home layout because of The amount he walks around his house in the intros of his videos
Haha, I reckon you can figure it out actually! I need to get outside in the cold more for the intros!
dope video man. your videos are gold, everything from the effects to the info. I will keep this stuff in mind when I am pursuing my goals in 2019!!
Unreal collaboration. This channel is going from strength to strength. So exciting!
Thanks so much! Let's see where 2019 takes us!
This video is so well-made! I wasn't all that much into science as a kid, but I've been getting more and more into it the last few years. Learning from videos like yours makes it interesting and engaging. Looking forward to learning more from you and keeping up with your work! Your channel is wicked.
Great work man. Well scripted, really well shot and great gfx. Really slick.
thanks for another amazing video! Can't wait to see all the new great content you create this year, keep up the good work.
Thanks for the nice comment! Means a lot! Excited to share it all with you!
Awesome video Tom
I hope this channel grows further, I will surely set my goals and establish my habits .....the video helped a lot !!
Keep up
You literally got me opening my notebook and planning my life out! Thank you so much!
Great job as always, glad to see you in this new year. Powerful message!
I’m glad to be back! More videos coming soon! Glad you liked it :)
I wish I found your channel sooner! You deserve more subs. Keep up the good work!
I really appreciate that! The important thing is you're here now :)
what a great concise video with amazing editing!
Wow! I really hope this collab is gonna help you grow a lot, cause you definitely deserve it. Great video as always, keep it up man!
Thanks a lot Marius! That means a lot! I'm just so stoked I had the opportunity to work with Ammar, it meant so much to me!
@@TommoCarroll I'm glad you're doing good. I think opportunities like this one are the best way for you to grow, since the content is already really good, meaning people that see your channel will most likely latch on. Good luck anyways!
Thanks again Marius. I've had a few people from the Yes Theory community find this video so far which is great! I appreciate the encouragement!
This channel is so underrated and I hope you guys get recognized more for your intelligence and creativity ❤️ thank you for inspiring people
Great piece of work dude! Really entertaining and professional, good structure of the narration too!
Thanks fillipo! Glad you like it! The writing is the hardest part for me so that’s great to hear!
Amazing ! collab with yes theory didnt expect that but love it
Glad you liked it :) I think it's important to work with creators that aren't in the science-sphere! And I am a huge huge fan of Yes Theory and their ideas!
Nice video Tom, cool to get an insight as to how habits actually work, not something you ever think about. Good to see you back making vids 👌🏼
Glad to be back! Hope everything is going well with you!
And yeah, I figured I’d try to bring a new spin to the habit conversation, I really believe understand how things work can change the way you see them!
@@TommoCarroll That's what I like about the channel mate, taking information that is often very boring to learn about and making it interesting. It would be a great way for kids to learn I think. I've shown my son some of your videos and he loves them too.
This is quality content. The editing, just eveything is beautiful
Thanks so much! Really glad you like it!
This is the video I needed, thank you !! Very inspiring !
That’s incredible to hear! I hope there are some lessons you can take away from this and use to change your life!
Awesome video!!!
Gracias.
Hey, keep on going this was an ace video!
The quality of your videos blows me away everytime. Very excited to meet you and learn about your story.
Same bud! This meeting will happen! I’ll make sure of it! Thanks for the kind words too, means a lot!
This editing is breathtaking 😍😍 Great video!! I totally enjoyed watching it 👍
Thanks a lot! More videos soon :)
I love the quality of these videos
The topic of this video is _exactly_ what I needed right now. It's time to make some new habits!
(BTW, I _love_ your channel! ❤️)
These videos have incredible quality! You are gonna blow up if you keep going!
Thanks Lucas! Means a lot! Feel free to subscribe and join the journey! 🙌🏻
Every time I work on my own videos, I feel good but then I see yours and I gotta practice more!
The editing was much smoother than previous videos! Not sure if it was the hiatus, but the longer breaks between videos was a good idea. This video is probably your best work!
Did you read Atomic Habits by any chance? I was gonna make a video on Habits myself after reading that book.
I’d love to see your video on habits! I haven’t read that book just yet! Adding it to the ‘to read’ list!
Haha thanks for the kind words! It’s all just about practise so keep on making things and you’ll keep getting better! Every 2 weeks from now on :)
i really enjoyed this video! it was very informational! thank you!
No problem at all! Glad you liked it :)
I almost forgot how awesome this channel is. Thank you for doing what you do.
Haha, it's been a while! Every 2 weeks from here on out!
And thank you for the kind words!
This was a great video of a lesson that should be taught early in life. Keep up the great work Tom & cheers to a great new year
I think having real lessons on habits would actually go a really long way! That's a great idea Carlos! Thanks for the well wishes, here's to a great year for you!!!!
@@TommoCarroll Real lessons in adulting, period, would do well...but education is the same today as it was a century ago & therefore doesn't think about the real world. That said, your videos are always great
@@miamiboyification Unfortunately I think a lot of what you write is probably pretty true! But hey, we can all keep educating ourselves outside of school, and hopefully Aspect Science can be a place for people that are hoping to do just that!
@@TommoCarroll Yes, this is a wonderful channel & I hope to see it earn millions of subs; for the enlightenment of knowledge and the furthering of education should never end, lest ye face ignorance or intolerance.
Wow! Two of my favourite channels did a colab! I wouldn't have guessed this combination of channels in a million years!
That's awesome man! Glad to make your day! That's exactly what I hope to do with this channel - collaborate with people you wouldn't think of, because really _that's_ when new people are introduced to scientific ideas!
Another great video Tom I will definitely try this as well.
Amazing! Let me know how you get on! Stoked you liked the video!
*subtle green apple chomp*
Awesome video as always! I'm glad you got that collab you were hoping for on that story a while back. Worth the wait.
Also, I didn't get a notification for this video. I don't know if that's the case for other users, but I figured you'd apprecciate a heads up.
Oh yes! I purposefully did that so let's see how many eagle-eyed apple-lover there are with this one! haha
Thanks so much! I'm so stoked it happened, Ammar is a really really great guy and was a massive pleasure to work with him! IF you're on instagram keep an eye out on Yes Theory's IGTV for the sister video to this one :)
Thanks for the heads up, someone else has told me that! It might be due to the lack of videos for the past month!
Always so much love for this Channel bro x
That means a lot Patrick! Thanks!
I love your content bro! You deserve all the subs!
Thanks Joshua, means a lot!
You continue to amaze me with the stunning cinematography!
Thanks so much Sofie! I tried something different this time, I really hope you like it!
Thank you very much! You influenced me a lot and thanks to you I think I would try to exercise more often.
Well that’s the perfect outcome for this video! If it influences just a handful of people like yourself, I’m happy!
This was great. Don't worry about the delay, you make quality tubes
Thanks a lot dude! More videos coming more regularly soon! But I’ll keep your kind words in mind :)
5:05 exactly what I'm doing right now. Can't believe I'm being called out by a video. Great vid
I figured *a lot* of people could probably relate with that bad habit! Haha
Love that this video shows you not just the steps you have to take but also the science behind it! Keep it up making videos that we can implement in our daily lives! Going to try (again) to read in a book everyday. Because of your video going to try it 10 minutes everyday to make it easier, and not fail again 😅. Hope this is the right way to do it.
Glad you like the idea! Maybe try what I have? Instead of a time goal just set a simple 1 page goal. Most of the time I read the 1 page and then end up saying ‘screw it, I’ll read some more!’
@@TommoCarroll True that. Good tip! Do you use a timegoal like 100 days?
Emy actually nope I haven’t. I would recommend it though as it does feel a little open-ended for me right now which I don’t like!
Very well done. Not well enough versed in videography and content creation to really know why, but this is a top quality video.
Thanks a lot Ray! That means a lot!
Another excellent video, thanks Tom. You seem like a natural born presenter. I'm sure you put a lot of work in but I think you have an inherant ability. Look forward to seeing you go far with this channel and more great collaborations.
Thanks so much! That’s really nice of you to say. Sitting in front of the camera and talking is still an exhausting and nerve racking task, so I appreciate the kind words!
That Really Good Video With Good Editing
love your work dude.
Thanks! Love your comments!
Fantastic vid as always.
Glad you liked it :)
Nice work man! X
Thanks buddy boy!
A couple of years ago, I started to do 10 push-ups before going to bed. Kinda just to prove it to myself and boost my ego. But it stuck. I later raised the number to 15 then 20 and I added sit-ups which I also increased. Now I am at 40 push-ups and 50 sit-ups before bed time. And I can't go to sleep if I don't. This video has incouraged me to keep on improving and maybe also add other exercises.
That’s an incredible example of all of this! I’m the same with stretching! I can’t function now without doing my stretching routine after years of building it!
Amazing video! Just started 100 days of sweat. Really inspiring. Also, would you mind sharing the song at 09:30?
I've officially made a new habit...... To watch your videos
I couldn’t think of a better habit to make 😅
Wow, this video is amazing!
Thanks so much Andrea! I’m really glad you liked it! Hopefully you found something useful that you might be able to use too!!!
This was so darn interesting! And beautiful to look at! :-)
May I ask you keep the background music at a low volume? It helps viewers that are foreigners or older to understand you better. I'm both things :(
Glad you like it! I’ll keep it in mind, thanks!
Really great video! I'm sharing everywhere!
That’s awesome! Thanks so much! I hope you and anyone you share it with can find it useful!

Nice work!
DOPE EDITING!
Thanks a lot!
great vid, great channel. all there is to it.
Thanks so much! That means a lot :)
This video was a huge help, especially the bit about Trigger-Routine-Reward and substituting the routine. Just out of curiosity though, do you think it's a good idea to go one step beyond something like taking a walk to instead another goal? To give an example, I've procrastinated on writing similar to you but instead of taking a walk I decided to clean my room which I'd been meaning to do. Under normal circumstances I wouldn't be able to convince myself that I should, but I was able to under these conditions. This wouldn't work every time because my room isn't always messy, but what if I were to do a workout as the routine? What I want to do is when I take a break from writing I go do a quick workout (let's say a 7 minute core exercise) and brainstorm ideas as my bodies moving. Then once I want to take another break I'll do another workout (let's say an arm workout with push-ups, pull-ups, chin-ups, etc.) and continue to brainstorm ideas. I could be killing three birds with one stone because I can 1. Keep a consistent workout routine, 2. Give my mind a break from writing and 3. Brainstorm ideas to break through writers block. The main problems I see with this routine is that I would be using too much energy and wouldn't want to continue writing because I'd be so drained, though this may not be the case because each workout would be rather short considering their broken up into chunks. Do you believe this is would be an efficient use of my time or do you believe I would be using too much energy?
Really inspiring, i guess i could manage a little exercise...
Nice! Do it! Just commit to a little more than you’re doing now, nothing major!
Dude you have priceless model face! And as always great video, i already knew all the stuff about habits, but it was entertaining to watch nonetheless.
Haha thanks bud!
Love the edting
I love your commenting! 😄
Nice vid. Already a collaboration with yes theory? Damn keep it up.
It’s pretty surreal! Hopefully in person soon!
Damn man, I remember you being on a few hundred subscribers and now you're at 26k and collabing with Yes Theory. Nice one, man!
It means a lot that you have been with the channel for such a long time! You’re a solid herd member! I’m amazed about the Yes Theory collab too! Just very thankful for the opportunity!

this might be weird or a little out of your field but could you please make a video about music therapy and how it physically affects your brain??
keep up the good work!!
Not weird at all! I actually considered adding it in to the video about music and dance. It’s something I want to come back to soon!
You make great videos!
You make great comments!
This was taking so long I thought the collab was never going to happen
Haha, sorry for the wait, I hope you like the video!
When is the next video coming?
YESSSSSS!!!! I wanted thi!
WOOOO!
Now I’m gonna go workout. Brb
DO IT!
Yo I see that Creativity Inc book you have. I'm going through it right now, and it's already one of my favorite books of all time. Maybe a possible video will come out from what you've learned?
Hey! That’s the book! I’m really liking it too. Although at about the half way point I’ve found that it gets a bit unfocused and messy. Maybe! That’ll probably be a video for the Patreon side of things instead of the main channel!
@@TommoCarroll Yes thats true. Well I'd definitely watch a video like that if you do make it.
Welcome back to the world of the living! i was wondering what happened to you. I now know what happened. Too bad i dont have any resolutions at all since im all about the short term solution. And not to mention how i tire so easily, new habits are going to have to wait.
Haha thanks for the welcome back! 2019 officially starts here for Aspect! New videos every 2 weeks from here on out!
Your videos are great
Your comments are great!
Good video, a word of advice don't make your video's with so many different shots and angles it is a lot of work, which makes it harder to feel the reward for your action, because the reward needs to be bigger.
Been here since 1000 subs
This is what happen when I'm doing Mathematics T in college. So happy when learn new subject, and at least got to solve some of the questions
And this is why I like Maths XD
I used to LOVE maths for that exact reason! The feeling when the concepts click in your head after practise and practise and you can finally solve a fresh new question!
awesome cut
Thanks a lot! Glad you like it!
I’d never heard of Yes Theory before this video.
Really? Well I’m happy to introduce you to them! Check them out!

Right!? I LOVED that line from Ammar. So happy to share it with you all!

Thanks a lot man! Means a lot!
Duuuuuude.... this video. In the last year I have lost 52lbs by employing some of the exact techniques you talk about. My keystone habit was actually trying to get better sleep. I read up on sleep recovery and realised I needed to go to bed much earlier than 1-2am so I could get better recovery from sleep. The result was that I naturally started walking up earlier. Getting up earlier gave me this extra 1.5 hours I didn’t know what to do with ... so I decided to go for a short 10 minute walk....fast forward I now run 15k a week. Keystone habits, going slow and focusing on developing habits over perfection is where it is at. 🤘
Dude! I LOVE this comment on so many levels! This is incredible. It’s pretty much the perfect example of putting these ideas into action! I hope you’re continuing to progress and are still enjoying the process! Do you mind if I share this comment on IG???

Can you do a scientific video on why you always have great hair?
Haha! I do? Like most people I hate my hair! It’s the thing I hate most about these videos...trying to get my hair right haha! That’s why I used to always wear hats!
Wow u just explained me one whole chapter of my bio book... lol
Haha! Well at least it saved you some time then! Keep reading that book though, I just scratched the surface! (Plus bio is the best, trust me I did my degree in it 😅)
This may have changed my life
anyone realize the circle from the yes theory hq was missing.
Haha, good spot! Even whilst editing the footage and looking at all the details I didn’t really know what it was. Until seeing their incredible video today! Are you a Yes Fam? If you are, welcome to the Aspect Herd!
Aspect Science I am and thanks for the welcoming. This video really motivated me so I watched matts 12 habit video, that is also great. For the rest of January I am going to skateboard daily, and I wrote down 30 day challenges for the next 6 months. I hope I stick to them! Thanks again for the video and I would love to be able to facetime sometime and talk about habits (if you have any recommended habits). I live in chile so I believe meeting in person would be sort of hard hahaha.
