- The tribute car is done. It has been a joy to put strip this car down and build up again. Please enjoy the video. 8 month build in total. The car is One of ten with options so quite rare.
Specs are: XE Falcon GL, new Ice Blue paint, new Sierra Tan interior, 6 seat center fold split front seat, rubber floor (all original spec), Air Con, 351 Cleveland with small cam - 650 holly - slightly higher compression pistons - upgraded valve springs, FMX column shift 3 speed auto, 2:77 diff with 351 XE 28 spline axles and LSD, all round disk brakes, cruise control, power steering, fully insulated, tint, hidden Bluetooth with USB, custom center console with CB radios. I will do more video including with the aerials connected and the police set up I did for the car, also dyno run etc over the coming week
In Victoria the cop cars at the time had wider 15 inch steel rims...Holdens and Fords...The highway patrol cars were the best with high performance motors...the VK Commodore running a brock engine...The Falcon interceptor running the 4v high comp 351...Victoria police had their own mechanics and workshops and tuned their own cars...
Many years ago; i rode in a 1979 Aussie Falcon with the 351C and a 4 speed stick, this was in SoCal around 1987
I remember a cop telling me years ago these were the best things back then to run down crooks lol
Higher comp heads etc and would run past 200 clicks no probs
I had a July 1982 Build ESP Chestnut paint Sierra tan interior and remeber the sound of the 3 inch mandrel exhaust we put on it
My god its sound is still with me today Awesome resto mate and rare !! Well done 🤩🤩
Yes thanks heaps. Ripper cars and big fan on the ESP.
Sweet ride, an excellent resto ,well done
only those who have lived around a cleveland realise how good that block is
Xe 192540?
Yep 1982 Fairmont Esp 302, dad gave me on my 21st a long long long time ago in a galaxy far away 😂, well I made my trade as an engine reconditioner,/ machinist blahhhh blahhhh, at Westend Performance, Campbeltown, Steve Hambridge my boss the later the late Sam Fenech, anyway I spent $2500 grand on parts etc,all work machining etc was me in the early 90's plus thankyou my dear late Dad for my present 🎁, I wish I still had her cause that Cleveland pulled like a war horse 🐎,351, two v heads with four valves, wiend manifold , 10.3 to one compression, mild hydraulic cam, shit I can't remember the size but it was a great set-up, 2400 stauly, pardon my spelling lol, single 2 half inch Brock, lol yeah Brock exhaust, 650 CFM mechanical carb and so on , ESP gold wheels and Monza Red factory paint, oh how I wish I still had her plus my Ol ZD factory 351 clevo, C4 9 inch, factory plus air conditioning Fairlane, 😢😢
Beautiful XE
What a beautiful car.
Beautiful car
love the interior colour 👌🏻
Awesome resto
I’ve got an 82 XD 351 chaser
Beautiful XE, V8 column shift is a great combo. Ice Blue looks magnificent on the body shape of these.
Yes very cool feel. 6 seater tops it off
Thanks heaps. It was a joy to do
Love the video, your obvious resto craftsmanship, and restrained OE-style good taste 👌
Fuck yeah from 'Merica
Cracks me up!
“Somewhere ta put ya durries “ 😂😂gold. Absolutely beautiful mate nicely done and sounds the business 😍
Very nice, very original!👍
wow unbelievable
Like you said, it feels weird having an XE that’s “like as it was new” very nice looking car. It’s a credit to you for all the hard yards not to mention dollars you’ve put in to it. 👍🏻 I couldn’t help but notice the manual choke which wasn’t even on the six cylinder models from XE series on. Keep that A/C cranked up, you’ll need it up in Darwin. 😎
Yep thanks heaps. Yep added the Manual choke in. It was not that easy either to run the cable through. Big of a trick that one.
Hell yeah look at that shit! I'll be damned a four-door Mustang GT I would love to have that LOL
Ace car 👍👍🍺🍺
Great job, very clean car.
Great cars. Terrific to see another survivor.
sounds a lot like my 1982 XE ESP. Nice job
Beautiful, shining 🤗. Awesome work 👍
beautiful sleeper.
Thanks and much appreciated. Still lots of fun even after 12 months
Bud that's amazing, well done. If I see you traveling around the streets of Darwin I'll toot the horn.
Back in the day….these were the Pride of the fleet. Great Hwy cars…..lol
It's a credit to you mate. Brilliant job.
Looks concours, great restoration mate!
Beautifully done
clean af bro
Really nice car mate. Congratulations
Congrats Tony, awesome work
Thanks Danny. Appreciate it.
THAT BEAST IS ABSOLUTLEY STUNNING MATE. GREAT JOB. SAME COLOUR AS MY 83 ZK. LOVE IT.
It is a ripper of a color. Just suits the car so well
Mate well done i wish my xd spack was as smick as your xe looks great finish in a short time luv it 😎😎
Love the car, Sounds great 👍
Thanks heaps. I will get some on the road videos in the coming days
Great work car looks mint don't see to many around anymore
Extremely gorgeous Falcon, one of my dream cars forever Falcon, OMG ❤ It, coming to Australia
Yep they do rock. Cheers for the comments

Nice work
perfect all over
Very nice. Perfect
Holy smokes this is glorious 💙
Thanks very much. The build was a experience but fun
That is a beautiful car that’s how they should be done up well done mate awesome car 👍
Thanks very much. I am wrapped with the outcome and sticking with the original color scheme from the factory. Such a great color and interior combination.
@@MrHSVGTS300 yes certainly is I used have a gl that was in baby blue (forget the colours real name) with sierra tan and it looked great 👍
great job
Thanks very much. Appreciate the comments
Absolutely beautiful mate! Was it a factory 351?
Stunning 💫💪🏋️🤠
Thanks heaps.
sweet ride mate
Thanks heaps.
Since you live in the NT i would love to see the gorgeous vehicle at the Red Centre Nats next year, my dad used to own an XE Fairmont Ghia in the exact same colour, only it was a six.
you should be very proud
Awesome
4:24 can put the cigarette in the coppers ear😂
I crave those Bucket Seats...BIG TIME !....
Yep very unique set up. Love it from factory.
Beautiful mate. I have owned one myself for 32years still have it never sell it sentimental reasons now but it was owned by the country roads authority down here in Victoria for chasing speedsters up the Hume hwy. I have done a ground up restoration it has fr Simmons now and it was white in colour but now it's done in Britannica pearl like a green with the original 351 block like yours but l changed my interior for the esp's spent way too much when l was young and stupid but it still gets comments when you go fill it up which is not that often coz l don't drive it much to hard to get parts now. But fantastic job on your resto and full credit to you.
Thanks very much for the comments. This is XE number 3 for me. Just really enjoy this model and works well.
Beautiful car well done their creeping up in value too,I'll be looking out for you on road im in Darwin too 👍
Yep cool. The all ford day is at the Darwin Show Grounds on the 12th June so drop down. Both my cars will be there plus all the Fords in Darwin.
@@MrHSVGTS300 for sure👍
Looks great need. square exhaust tip to finish it off.
10/10 👍🏻
My bro had a chev impala T - shift 350 ... asked what car am i driving , i said XD Fairmont 🤷 tidy car six cylinder red ' reliable as traveled up and down the country no problems .... His reply , " those boxes " 🥴 yep call it what you want bro , you won't have your one for long the way your driving it 🤣
Mate well done. Can't wait to see it cruising around Darwin. Absolute credit to you all the work you have done on this.
Thanks heaps. Daily driver so will be out and about
That car and engine is sossarge
My Nono had one just like this. Ex chase in Blue but it had a manual stick shift. Sweet ride
Thanks very much. Very lucky to have that paint as the factory option
Loving the factory/extras tastefully done. Just wondering how does the A/C handle the Darwin humidity ? I took a AU Fairmont Ghia from Victoria when working at the Gas plant and it was the best thing ever!
It works a treat. Upgraded condenser thankfully. No thermo fans but as long as I don't sit there and idle forever it is just fine. I have a 12 inch front mount condenser fan that can be switched on or off as needed for back up. I much prefer the mechanical fan for the job the car has.
I was wondering if you could tell us more about the cruise control and workings thank you great car
It is a aftermarket off the shelf set up. Just make sure the tail shaft magnets are spot on and held on good and tight. I changed from using the plastic zip tie to a metal tie. Unit is called Command DIY Cruise Control Kit - Vacuum Actuated with Dash Remote AP60B
@MrHSVGTS300 Thank you for your reply such a nice xe
Love the Ex Police Chaser 👍 Great job on the resto AAA+++ all round, can you please advise me how or who did the chrome strip's on the front & rear bumpers, they look magnificent as the whole car does! Big pat on the back, love it! Cheers from Sydney
HI. The strips are off global trim. Look up FORD Falcon XE Fairmont Ghia FRONT & REAR Chrome Bumper Bar Mould Falcon ESP
Thanks for the kind words too. Much appreciated.
Not police spec wheels “ Nice job 👍
Good thing about Tribute cars, do what works. Cheers for the comments
👏 is
You took great pains to have it at original spec but spoilt its serenity with a non-stock exhaust system.
Funny how you got rubber floor coverings but a carpeted boot.
Make sure it has a good security system or kill switch.
But otherwise a superb resto.
Thanks heaps. Yep I happen to have scored a Fairmont boot carpet and why not throw it in there. The original bit of carpet is sitting on the shelf. Kind of cleans up the boot nicely covering the wheel. The exhaust is for fun. Driver car.
@@MrHSVGTS300 The exhaust sounds mint - not over the top but lets you know immediately there's something special under the bonnet imho. I'm in awe of this car mate fkn beautiful job
Nice resto, enjoy!.. Was it an original Territory Police car?.
QLD CIB the QLD police museum believes- Ex detectives car
@@MrHSVGTS300 If it were a Sydney car it would've covered a few miles in the hands of Roger "the dodger" Rogerson LMAO !!
Beautiful car nonetheless mate. Great work.
@@MrHSVGTS300 Ok cool...it's a nice find, and am glad to see that its been restored back to original spec.
Enjoy driving it out on that lovely territory highway!!
Cheers for the comments. Yes I am glad I found the painter who was honest and a good turn around@@tonymontana897
does a/cond work and has it got power steer thought xe had auto choke
Hi, Yes AC works and power steering was with the car. I have a Holley carby so manual choke on this one.
How much did the Seats cost to recover ?. It looks like Vinyl...
Material around the $2500 and about the same to get them made up to suit. Just on $800 to get the cushions and actual fitment onto the seats. I did all the cleaning up of the old seats bases which did need a fair whack of work.
Sweet, although I thought cop cars were "S" spec, which would mean blacked window frames. Without "S" spec, no tacho, but you have a tacho. Although who knows, maybe the cops got their own deal.
Yep it is a tribute so my own style on the old girl. I prefer the chrome on the GL with the stock style. I actually met a fella some weeks ago who said that the NSW police XE 351 stuck with the XD rear leaf springs set up and it was custom from the factory. I can not advise on that one way or another but interesting none the less
I own an LS and I bet this thing was still hunt me down on the highway
Yep I am still a fan on the Ls. Loved the old VX GTS. Lots of great memories flinging that thing around.
@@MrHSVGTS300 Effing wild👌
how much do you want for it
Funny. Need to use it for a bit first. 18 months I will move it on to a new home. Never was a keeper this one as it was always a project
It’s setup as a tribute car but it’s not a replica?
My version of a XE police tribute car. Paint and interior as per the factory plate with a 351 driveline with the FMX and 28 spline 2:77 diff. Very good cruiser you can drive in all day in comfort
@@MrHSVGTS300 It’s beautiful. Good job on the resto.
Wow that Fringe really sets it off 🤢
Yep agree. Somehow it works
I had the chance to buy a xd fairmont 302 auto in 2001 for $300 and a case of beer but i said no.
Yep they are good old stories. I remember back in the early 90s a ESP XE 351 manual great nick 75000km on it for sale for $9k while I was down at Winton raceway. The car was sitting at the track all day and few people looked but it was there all day with the for sale stickers. Amazing thinking back but it would be same for most car and bike people.
ex cops never had ghia wheels.....NOT an ex cop car
Did i hear right that, that radio had bluetooth?
The radio is just the old XE one. Cassette too so flash as. I have a Bluetooth system hidden behind the dash that I can turn on and off as needed. Generally I just listen to radio and it is good enough.
