    I bought these because of the reasonable price, Availability, street legal, and weight. They are harder to clean after wheeling and I am expecting the nuts to rust in salt season. I also had a time finding an installer. The local shops would not because of all the extra holes. Off road shops would only install if you bought it from them. Finally got them installed at Walmart but had to give them the tools to do it as they didn’t have the socket or torque wrench that would go that low. I prepped the 12 bolts with gasket lube and anti sieze as instructed.
    I am very happy with them so far and expect many years of use out of them.

      I spoke to ICON at EJS, they confirmed the surface rust issue was resolved (only affected tops of the bolts), the new pins won't rust.

      After their first weekend of real wheeling they held up nicely. They are not afraid to rash though and only one had rock in the sidewall. Just be aware of that as well. I would easily buy them again.

    Just curious, but is there a reason I never see the inner bead mechanically locked?

    • @Casey250
      @Casey250  Před 5 měsíci

      Generally its much less likely to push an inside bead off as it can have a higher lip as the tire doesnt need to be installed over it, but also things that unseat the bead tend to be coming from the outside of the tire (think rocks, logs etc)

  • @IM-cs5ou
    @IM-cs5ou Před 2 lety +1

    good design but IMO not for rock crawling without a rash ring. the wheel edge is a weak point, even when picking good lines the wheel edge can get damaged.

      If you were going to roll a bead it’s going to be on the outside of the room not the inside

    • @KTMcaptain

      Very difficult to pop the inside bead off, most beadlocks are built this way. Hutchinson is the big manufacturer that is dual locked but you have a much heavier wheel due to the rubber inner liner.

      From aev website
      @@KTMcaptain The Crestone wheel with the Beadlock Ring installed is DOT compliant but that does not necessarily mean it is legal for street use in every U.S. state. Check state and local restrictions on beadlock installation and use BEFORE ordering. Beadlock wheels must be properly installed and require routine maintenance. As a general policy, AEV recommends that beadlock wheels are used for off-road purposes only.

    • @KTMcaptain
      @KTMcaptain Před rokem

      @@beadblaster9508 their website says the DOT compliance is not related to beadlock ring and is suggested for off road use only. They also speak about the extra maintenance required and risk of driving in that configuration. If a single fastener losses torque spec then it is definitely not DOT compliant, which AEV states is a common occurrence using the beadlock ring.
      .
      So then all beadlock wheels are fine so long as they meet the standard wheel strength testing and maintenance.
      .
      “AEV wheels are designed to all applicable DOT Standards regarding wheel construction and have passed the SAE Tests for Radial Fatigue, Impact, and Cornering Fatigue. Currently, DOT or SAE has no specific regulation or test requirements for beadlock wheels.”
