- And so the cryfest begins... this is part one of three episodes that just makes my heart ache. Between the love story in this chapter and the betrayal! Ahhhh, I don't know what to even expect anymore. I will be completing anything I missed after we finish the main story!

One of my favorite scenes. The play scene was barely there in the Og, but FF has had some amazing play scenes in other games, so it felt not only a tribute to FF7, but to others FF too.
Nomura (who is the creative director to Rebirth and Remake) loved Les Miserables, so he always wanted to have a big musical theatre piece, and boy oh boy what a scene they made.
Imagine a remake of the Final Fantasy 6 opera scene...

Also No Promises to Keep play is inspired by a Hugh Jackman film, Greatest Showman. They even got Loren Allred to be Aerith’s singing voice. It also parallels to Cloud, Tifa and Aerith too.
One thing you've been missing is reading the different effects for linking materia on weapons vs. armor.
You have a leveled up elemental materia and if you linked it to fire materia on Aerith's armor then you would have been immune to fire damage which would have trivialized that dual bomb fight.
she didnt realize she was healing when using wind because she HP absorb linked.

@@allthethingsgames Easily, having first strike and ATB boost is an easy win. Just need to set radiant ward first. Havving Magic linked with MP and HP absorb helps as well. Aerith is super OP. Couldnt have beaten Rulers of Outer Worlds without her.
She barely pays attention to the mechanics at all. It's a bit amusing how much she just barrels through everything. Lock on alone would have made Rufus a lot easier to manage.

@@w01f777 yea but the problem is that unless you played Crisis Core you won't know who she's talking about. Because these games don't give Yuffie and "you know who" a connection. The date is the only time she actually talks about him.
This play is so amazing with how it works along with the actual story. I mean talk about a masterpiece of a game.
The deal with Aerith is you have to spend a couple of turns preparing her with wards, but then she will deal major damage. Her synergy skill "Spellbound Blast" deals serious damage, and also builds the atb gauge very quickly. Use that to cast a Radiant ward to boost the damage of her normal attacks, and cast an Arcane Ward. If you cast a level three spell inside it, it does insane damage. It takes two atb bars, so use Spellbound blast to get them quickly :)
Yeah she needs some prep to really be able to cut loose. I like giving her a first strike materia and an atb boost materia so she can put down wards immediately. Her combat saviour is extremely helpful too, it helps prevent her from getting overwhelmed and stun-locked. Her ward shift is another great tool, you can run away from your wards to bait attacks and pull aggro, and then warp back to safety.

The date sequence was always something I enjoy watching content creators react to since it has many other options/dialog to explore. The reaction on this channel is going to be awesome!
What I love so much about these longer RPGs is that because you spend so much time with these characters you feel so connected to the members of your party. The character moments in this game proves that in spades!

The episode I've been waiting for. I was 83% sure you were going to get Red for the date since you hit the light blue smiley with him first, which would have been nice but I was hoping you'd get Tifa. But you clinched Tifa with that Gold Cup side mission. You should 100% check out the other dates when you get the chance.

1:39:25 I think the tie breaker between Aeirth and Tifa is waaaaaay back in the beach fight with Hojo, where you pick who to help: Aeirth and Barett, or Tifa and Red.
The beach outfits for Cloud also favor one or the other, depending on which one you wear

The woman who sang Aerith's song is Loren Allred who also sang 'Never Enough' in The Greatest Showman. The scene here is basically a recreation of what happened in the film
Just wanted to take a moment to give a shout-out to kasta for providing THE definitive blind playthrough for the FFVII Remake series. The amount of love, focus and genuine interest you show towards the series, its story and its characters is felt by the audience. I'm glad you discovered Final Fantasy this late because now I can (re-)discover the series alongside you.
In the coming years I can't wait to see how you'll progress in your Final Fantasy journey! Be assured all FFs will take you on a new adventure with a cast you grow to love, and a plight you can't wait to see unfold.
So Aerith, Barrett, Red, Tifa, Yuffie and others have a date. You got Tifa’s because your affinity was higher with her.
Some of the dates are romantic and some comedic haha. Definitely recommend a reaction to all of them either when you finish the game or in a separate video.
Also according to the devs Aerith’s song wasn’t written for one person but everyone she’s met and cares for.

That Dustbowl challenge with Aerith made my hair turn gray 😭
The fight with the bombs and aerith could have been easy if you had fire linked with elemental on your armor. Elemental makes you absorb damage for healing with the linked elemental spell materia. That is the way to make the bombs obsolete
53:00 Actually, she had shields to project and block projectiles, wards to teleport to, etc... she is a magic caster, not a fighter. Radiant ward can hit regular attacks as hard or harder than Cloud. The shield can block many attacks, byr needs to face the enemy. Magnify blizzard can hit both enemies at once.
she never really care to use the character's ability. When she plays it is all about casting elemental spells for her. That's why she struggles.
@@sjneow I’ve seen a lot of playthroughs, and I’m honestly surprised how many people don’t play around the characters abilities. They just basic attack and try to roll. They treat it like a souls game, which is not at all how the combat works.
Having the right materia loadouts, blocking/precise blocking, and using atb constantly is a MUST.
Aerith has a lot of tools, and it can be hard to remember what everything does. So I’ll just give one tip: Radiant Ward! It’s Aerith’s best friend!
Radiant Ward helps her in so many ways: inside the ward her basics attacks come out faster, which significantly helps her build ATB. She gets an improved dodge inside the ward, which makes darting around attacks easier. And finally when she’s inside the ward her spells are harder to interrupt!

Also making yourself immune to fire with the materia combos would have helped with that fight
The reason people find Aerith more frustrating to play is that her combat style is more tactically minded. You can't just spam buttons like the other players. Using her wards to warp around the fighting area really helps. You really have to know which ability works best in what scenario much more than the other team members. Also they made her combat work better when using synergy/skills/abilities with your teammates as oppose to single combat compared to the other characters.
Wrong she is a must for must people in the party!
Aerith is the most powerful member of the party if you know what you're doing with her, her wards can fit almost any situation. Radiant is a great general ward for just pouring on the dps etc.
If you're spamming buttons with the other characters then you're not playing it right.
It also helps to actually use offensive abilities like Sorcerers Storm & Ray of Judgement, which were being criminally underutilized

I couldn’t help but to shed a tear during Aerith’s performance. Easily one of the best video game scenes ever created with its meaningful message. So powerful.
Also, I had the same date with tifa… and im pretty happy with it! By far one of the best parts of the game

enjoyed your reaction to the date scene. I got Aerith for mine and loved it. Afterward, I watched all the date scenes, and they are all amazing in their own right. It's difficult to choose a favorite one as they all add something special to the game. Either important info about the story or a heartfelt moment between Cloud and another character or something completely hilarious. Be sure to watch them all.

Add your transmuted items in the To Do List by pressing square, you will find the items much faster
1:06:34 the fight with aireth is honestly soo frustrating and it's because those fireballs are so quick to attack while aireth is so painfully slow. took me awhile to beat hers too... along with some breaks lol
Aerith fight is actually extremely easy. Just need to know how your materia works, elemental and fire on armor and you can literally just stand there and auto attack

HP absorb plus fire materia will absorb HP when you cast the fire spell, not when you get hit by a fire spell (if that’s what you’re wondering)
Idk about you but my elemental materia was only to half damage level at the time I got to this battle and I was doing all my side content. I had hooked my ap up materia to my warding materia because I really thought I might need it in later fights. Which was false but hey blind is blind
Dates based on relationship status, every member of your team can be a date. Including Barret, cait, and red.
but you get on a tripple date with cait, cid and vincent. you cant be on a date with them individually. this only happens when all relationship stats are the same(like to a T). Tifa if obviously the best.. but i also liked the yuffie one.
Aerith is a beast her magic attack power is OP as heck but yea not everyone's play style and is a bit different from other characters. Anyway enjoying your playthrough have a good one
Though a subject of speculation for years, in the play loveless, the Goddess with wings is in fact Jenova so the play is a retelling of some Ancient poem passed through time with it's meaning forgotten, this will be confirmed later from certain Murals and cutscene cues easily missed in chapter 13 of the game. ;)

This is the episode I've been waiting for. I loved all the side content, and love the past couple of videos going around completing everything, but this chapter is the one I needed to see you react to.

Are you able to do a materia and armor checklist/prep at some point?
Missing so much from Chadley (MP Absorption,Darkside,Comet,Synergy, Magic Focus,Petrify) that you can develop via the Nibel and Gongaga regions.
Also have some amazing accessories (Karmic Kowel, Expeitonary Medal) and armor (Celestial) while some of your characters have 4 sloted ones.
You have yet to equip Bahamut, or first strike, etc. Just some housekeeping before heading to the endgame.
I don't think she reads any comments here, possibly to avoid spoilers... but you're absolutely right, she does have to improve her combat preparation (and some skills too), while also develop those important materias that help so much for the toughest battles.
I almost yelled at her fight with Donberry, at that point she should have at least one main character equipped against Instant Death... My Cloud always had Karmic Kowl right after I defeated Tonberry King, boosting defenses while protecting against instakills? Check please!
Hopefully she improves for chapter 13, before the point of no return... I like her enthusiasm for completing everything possible, so I'm sure she'll go for the island... but she does have to take a bit of time to adjust her characters equipment and materia.

“Take my hand” is a nice little foreshadowing. In the OG after beating the last boss, Cloud grabs “Aerith’s” hand to climb out of the crater. He does it again in Advent Children when he defeats Bahamut.

You can lock on enemies by pressing the right stick (R3). It makes one-on-one fights much easier!
Aerith's fight was a struggle for me because I was trying to wing it.
The chocoking cape, atb boost or things that let Aerith get that first couple of wards or attacks are fantastic because you pretty much can cheat Aerith weakness (at least for me) which is the time you need to set her up.
Using those types of accesories/materias pretty much make 90% of fights meaningless lol. I love nuking things with Aerith.
Lol I loved watching you mald against Tonberries. 😂 They really get to you huh. At some point you were so flustered that you started to heal instead of reviving, even though tonberries one shot you anyway.

I like the name "Maycomb Blume" instead of "Make them bloom". The date is choice is based on who you have the "best relationship with" at the time of the date. After completion of the first run, you can choose the date you want when you go back through this chapter.
Radiant Ward: makes Aerith shoot laser beams, dodge like Tifa, build ATB like Yuffie.

Kasta got straight up MAD when she fought those fireballs. kinda scawy 😳
The easiest way to beat the fireballs is simply equipping elemental materia with fire on your armor. If level 2 elemental it will absorb all of the damage making this fight easy. I personally used her shield to block the projectiles and hit them from a far while casting blizzard. It took me a moment to figure it out lol

YESS im so glad you got Tifa's date, I was worried you wouldn't since hers is easier to miss than others!! Especially since you missed the first date in Chapter 8. Good you did her sidequest right before! Tifa's is the most intimate and its so gosh darn good, you screamed in joy seeing the kiss like most of us! Also, the game determines who you go on the date with in your first playthrough, depending on your relationship levels. After that you can choose manually. The other dates also are good in their own ways, but Tifa’s is my favorite because the couple finally got a kiss after 27 years and also the fact Cloud made the first moves!! Proud of my boy. Loving your play through and your reactions!!

So excited to see your next steps. The next bit is probably my favorite part of the game outside of Tifa’s experience in Gongaga.
For the date scene and who it chooses, it depends on their affinity towards you. If you used all their synergy skills, if you made the right dialogue choices, if you did their side missions, or if you generally picked them for certain situations. By the end of the game, you can choose whoever you want to go on a date with, which includes the Boyz(cait, cid, and vincent)

Your biggest problem is that you don’t use the character’s abilities. You only use basic attacks and spells. Aerith is one of the most op characters but you don’t use her wards that’s why she’s difficult for you to use her
You know, the only thing I would have loved they added to the Loveless play, was Cloud saying "Even if the morrow is barren of promises...nothing shall forstall my return." I mean, given that Genesis basically adores Loveless, this would have been a good place to put that.

Your dialog options through the game determine how close you get to someone. It's not just the side missions you do that determines who the date is with.
The gold saucer date and the date Aerith promises Cloud if he becomes her bodyguard back at the church are connected, right? That's how I always looked at. In original it was the only date you could with her(wallmarket wasn't really a date since they were trying to rescue Tifa) and Aerith even spells it out to Cloud - D A T E

1) In the remake, she also said she was paying him with a date (in sector 5), which ended up in Evergreen Park.
2) Cloud didn't really agree to her proposal, and needed this date, both in the remake and in the original. So it's perfectly fine, the date with Tifa, who has always been the canonical love interest, doesn't contradict the story in any way, and Cloud and Tifa also agreed to go on a date in the Remake.
@@rnkkhv Evergreen Park wasn't a date more like a resting spot. Also, Cloud didn't say no to her proposal either.
@@materiahunter8443 Dude, during their Sector 5 trip, she tells him straight up that she's paying him now. It takes him a while to remember what that payment is, and then he remembers about the price. So he definitely doesn't need it, and yes it's shown at the beginning of Rebirth when he's clearly unhappy at Aerith's mention that they were on a “date”. So yes, it was the promised date in Evergreen Park, and Cloud isn't really interested in Aerith in general, he clearly prefers Tifa as the story progresses. This is evident in Costa Del Sol, when choosing swimsuits, in lower Juinon where they're in Tifa's room talking, and in Gongaga where he tries to kiss her but is interrupted. And yes, Ultimania is clearly saying that he doesn't understand the value of her offer. There's only one thing to say, he's just confused, and Reno's boldness makes him take this job. Well, in general, Cloud is only surface-level asshole, and will help a damsel in distress, even without a big payment, if it happens in front of him.
@@rnkkhv I was strictly speaking about my experience playing the original. If that didn't come across, my bad. After all, Cloud and Aerith have plenty of dates in Rebirth. About Tifa - I have no doubts that Cloud has feelings for Tifa. She was his childhood crush after all. But to say say Cloud has no feeling for Aerith is also kinda absurd. It's no accident that when Cloud sleeps at Aerith's house he gets a memory of his mom wanting him to get a girlfriend. Not to mention Cait Sith's prediction. The devs are clearly trying to tell the player something.
Great episode to watch, I think it was one of your best. Totally enjoyed your reaction! I also wish you could do the Chocobo races for me. If there is a door I am extremely good at hitting them. I have finished the game but still have not won the Gold Cup. I keep going back to try.

The excitement of watching Maggie beat that last guy in the arena with Cloud at near no hp left had me cheering so much.
The whole Loveless performance from seeing Jessie to Cloud, Tifa, Barret, and Red, then to Aerith, was so well done. I was a watery eyed mess multiple times. Loved the whole thing. Then, to the gondola ride with Cloud and Tifa. The writing and cinematics just felt magical through it all!
Another great video Maggie, enjoyed this one very much👍. 1. Remind me never to take you on in a Chokobo race😂. 2. Loved the Aerith performance in the show, her VA has a CZcams channel as well and I’ve been taking a bit of peek every so often....didn’t know she could sing👍. 3. Glad you got through the dust bowl fights, Gus’s ‘party’ didn’t really feel like that for you did it😂!? 4. Love the fights at the end and Rufus coming in surprised me, strikes me as one of those characters that don’t look like they can hold their own but actually can. 5. Having never played the original(if any😂) I don’t know why Cait Sith did that, but I’m with you, it can’t be that cut and dry as a betrayal of the group from him. Very much enjoyed the video, tuned into a little of your previously recorded stream you had on twitch(which I haven’t got) and saw the part where Ginger was actually in the one spot for change😂, so cute. Braver was the move that instantly staggers him. I thought you would of gotten it during this fight, since you use it all the time to finish off common enemies a lot. The one time you don't use that move is the one fight that actually makes it super easy.

Aerith is OP if you play her the way she's supposed to be played. She's about strategy and timing instead of button mashing. It's a mindset shift of play smarter, not harder.
Put down a Radiant Ward 1st, use ward shift by pressing triangle to warp away from danger, throw down some Lustrous Shields to block projectiles like those fireballs, and throw down an Arcane Ward when all your defense is in place.
When you are standing in the Radiant Ward you're immune to damage while casting magic fyi. Combine all of that with a maxed out Precision Defense Focus materia on Aerith and she's unbelievably OP.

The beast arena was definitely a tough segment with Aerith. Seemed rather unfair match-up for her. Understandable frustration! I'm sure you've already seen some of the comments about it, but elemental materia 2-star linked with Fire (or any element) will immune the damage. But you did it without it, so more power to you!

Date time! The play was something special for sure, the part that I feel is the biggest tug on the heart strings is the Jessie/Biggs/Wedge bit at the very end. Gets me every time. T_T Everything about the play was so well done, the Aerith song too. All of it~
I do have a bias for Tifa since playing the OG, but I do love all of the characters in the Remake/Rebirth project thus far. You can get a date with all the party members! Tifa's will be a personal favorite. However, all the dates are definitely worth a watch! Maybe make a reaction video to the other dates in the future? :) And make sure it is the Max Affinity/Intimacy dates! They are the best!
Every thing you said about the relationships in this game I wholeheartedly agree. The small sprinkles of romance are in there, but it is not the driving force of the narrative. Just the mutual respect and understanding (misunderstandings too? Haha) of how each character is with themselves and each other is just so darn good. The development and growth is just so lovely between everyone.
The coliseum was so much fun to watch! Those darn DONberries! You handled it all very well. I see a lot of people struggle on Rufus for sure, he's definitely not the easiest.

Love your playthrough. The date sequence is determined who has the highest affinity so any members could have been chosen. Maybe you can make a video looking at the different dates if you like.
I’m absolutely a Cloud x Aerith girl and really enjoyed the romantic scenes I got between them, but I also love seeing the happiness of Cloud x Tifa fans like you when they get to witness these sweet scenes between them! You’re such a tender soul and it’s a pleasure to be able to watch your reactions and your joy. (Also thank you for not hating on Aerith just because she’s an alternative romantic option for Cloud ❤❤ It makes me so happy when I come across Cloud x Tifa fans who also thoroughly love her!)
I am a Cloud x Tifa girl and still love Aerith. I love all these characters so much. But I also love Zack too. I feel C/A is a disservice to him. But everyone likes what they like. It's all good IMO

She’s my favorite video game character and one of my favorite fictional characters of all time, so it’s really discouraging to see so much hate directed towards her from the loud minority online. I think the other person who commented just felt a bit triggered from the “unfair to Zack” comment ‘cause we’re so used to being attacked on the Internet for liking Cloud and Aerith together for such a reason, but I know and appreciate that that’s not where you were coming from. Zack is a wonderful character, and I love him and his affection for Aerith, too. So I think people who ship them are completely valid to love them together, even if we sometimes disagree on the reasons. As you said, different strokes for different folks! @@kaylacaldwell7300 Exactly. I feel people would be better suited discussing things in a healthy debate of differing opinions while still being respectful. It makes it more fun. There are reasons to love both and also reasons to not love both. I'd love to discuss the pros and cons of each without fear of pitchforks jabbing my eyes out 😂. I'd also be fine with the outcome of all 3 of them just saying eff it and becoming a throuple. 😀 Would stop a lot of the arguing then right? I'd just need everyone to realize what happened to poor Zack first. (Such as his parents, Aerith and Cloud learning his fate). Cloud and his two amazing bad ass female partners. I'm sure some fans would dig it.

It’s just so aggravating how slow aerith is, you try to dodge everything, then it takes forever to recover and use ATB commands. I eventually got it, i think i used speed up and casted haste on myself, but it still was a pain.
So to answer your question. Everyone else. Aerith, Yuffie, Barret, Red, And Cait Sith (featuring Cid and Vincent).
