    so, nobody mention anything about the most anticipated Multi Layer Transform?
    also that "select layers menu from Canvas" is a game changer, no more stopping your flow and digging through Layer tab,
    selecting layers accurately from canvas is like a dream come true
    i like that Krita makes the workflow more accessible and let us access everything from the canvas itself
    and spend less time digging the menu & tools
    5.2 definitely make a good progress in the right direction

    • @PedroRodrigues-fh1ku
      @PedroRodrigues-fh1ku Před 10 měsíci +1

      If you dig through the comunity you will find that krita works very differently when it`s coupled with some plugins. With the right ones you can work fullscreen without any menu on display, reduce complicated shortcuts in favour of easier ones, and also pie menus. Ypu could already select any layer with the layer select shortcut clicking on the canvas, but theres a plugin that will let you cycle through your layers just by holding a keyboard key and hovering your pen over the screen

    • @jorionedwards
      @jorionedwards Před 10 měsíci +3

      @@PedroRodrigues-fh1ku Are you talking about Shortcut Composer? Could be my mid-low end laptop but that thing was pure lag especially when layer scrolling. Plus the vanilla layer switching with clicking is too finicky when you use more than a couple layers for glazing or masks.

    • @PedroRodrigues-fh1ku
      @PedroRodrigues-fh1ku Před 10 měsíci

      yes, that one and also pie menus and dock under cursor. Mine doesn`t lag, Krita is very snappy and I have a bunch of plugins on it. Shortcut composer is always getting new updates. Also this new layer switch drop down menu shows you the layers according to the one you clicked on top of on your canvas, almost like pick layer shortcut but more inteligent and it accounts for the issue with transparent blend modes layer that keeps you from selecting the ones bellow it.@@jorionedwards

    I mention open-source tools for multimedia to people and they're always like, "OH, I tried GIMP; it just isn't Photoshop!" and then I'm always all "GIMP!? What is this, 2006!??"
    At this point I do nearly all of my art for games and comics with Krita. It isn't just being cheap, either; I'm a donating contributor to the KDE foundation, we just don't require it of everybody to use it and make money off of it. The interface is fluid and sensible, the layer and mask system makes a lot of intrinsic sense, the company is extremely respectful of privacy and intellectual property, and you can run it on almost anything, which is _how you take care of your product_, Adobe!

    As they wrote in last paragraph for text feature:
    > This was no small feat and is only just laying the foundation for more improvements to come! For Krita 5.2, you’ll still have to use the SVG code editor to access these new features, but for Krita 5.3 we’ll be working on the text tool proper, making it on-canvas and allowing you to configure the new features with menus and presets.
    As I understand the text engine replaced with new one that based on SVG. So now it should work as it worked in previous versions. The new features can be accessable only via SVG text editor. And new UI/tools for them will be addeed in 5.3.

    Could someone here help me out? I've been a blender user for a couple of years now and am fairly competent at 3D. However, I can't draw to save my life but would like to try to learn using Krita since I already have a pen tablet. So my question is, are there any tutorials or paid courses out there that combine the basics of Krita with the basics of digital drawing? Basically, I'm looking for a detailed video course that would use Krita (or any similar program really if there's nothing Krita-specific out there) that would teach me the foundations of digital drawing in a structured way so I can grow from there.

    Since clip studio went to a subscription model, even if it's cheap, it broke my trust and i been looking to see what to replace it to.
    Krita seems great but some of the things they mentioned this patch makes it feel it's still not finished yet, like those formats saving wrong, or the text engine. Dunno if jump now, since i still have my csp license or wait for the next cool feature with probably the new color wheel completly ironed out.

I draw with a super simplistic admittedly shitpost style and I have been trying to make my images a more reasonable file size and since I don't know how to do that I just started making my lines and canvases tiny but then the fill tool stops working properly so does this fix that?

    Krita is one of most failed open-source projects. Reasons:
    - aggressive community with lot of very stupid people which do not allow new features and insulting people
    - Python
    I would say that because of outdated technology stack (Python is amazing but not for UI bases applications) it does not make sense to make a fork. So best would be to close project at all.
