    Thank you! I tried it before I finished watching the video and just right clicked to save the video and it saved as an mp4 (obviously I don't get a lot of the functions like HD when I do this, but that's not needed) This is so much better than other screen recorders! You are a life saver.

      It was introduced as a native feature in 2013.
      You've been able to export a presentation as a video since the 90s though I think.

    Great video Kevin. Learned a number of things I will apply to my video's. By the way saving the file as a mp4 can also be done directly in the powerpoint by right click and save as. So I don't use the export to.

    Because of the stay in place order, the company where I work is doing education on line. This video showed me how to record my screen so I can make a tutorial video, post to CZcams & teach my co-workers how to learn our new learning management system (LMS) the company is implementing.     Another nice clear and concise instructional video. There is also a screen recorder in the OneNote 2016 but not in the WIN10 version. But the WIN10 version has a dictation tool not in OneNote 2016. You might like to make a tutorial about these.

    I really love this. It is easy to learn and accomplish the goal. I use PP a lot never knowing I can record for lectures, workshops, etc. Gracias Kevin for sharing this in a simple way.

    Super helpful! The only thing that I would add is when you export the video, you need to change the number of seconds per slide if your recording on that slide is longer than 5 seconds. My lesson on the slide was 10 minutes long, so I had to update that. Everything else was super helpful!

      I've got the same problem. It automatically records my standard input device (microphone). Is there any way to change the audio source? Thank you very much in advance!

    I have a question. How come when I recorded my ppt as video lesson the background music was missing? I tried the procedure so many times but still there was no background music?

    I tried it. The screen recording works, but when I played it back and listened to its audio, I noticed that the recorder turned on my computer's microphone and recorded sounds from that instead of from the video I tried to screen-record. Do you know how to fix this? 🔉❌

      That is my question too - Is it possible for PowerPoint to record computer audio instead of the Mic? Seems like the screen capture only captures the mic.

    ** THIS IS MUCH BETTER ** then using the Windows + G. (xbox recorder) that is also native in Windows. I am SO GLAD I saw this video. Was trying to record some tutorial videos for work, with my work issued laptop and am not able to install any 3rd party applications, or really adjust too many settings. The output of the Windows + G option was considerably less quality even with the highest settings. The Power Point method is awesome with no degradation at all to the final video. Brilliant!!

    Hi Kevin, you can also right click on the video and save the video. I made a small handout for my colleagues how to use onscreen recording and this was on option 2.
