When I was a kid, I wrote a fan letter to Weird Al and he answered with a full hand written reply on an oversized postcard with his picture on the other side. I have been backstage at 4 Ozzfests, and that was still the coolest interaction I've ever had with a famous person. All Hail Al.
Usually, famous people react like regular folks as long as you don't go all ga-ga.
I once met him in Vegas during one of his tours. I caught him leaving the building and immediately I asked for an autograph, but I didn’t have any paper, so this man grabbed one of his long cardboard displays, signed it and handed it to me with a laugh. One of the best experiences of my life lmao
@@spaceflight1019 Unless you're actually Lady Ga-Ga, in which case it is expected.
I got to meet Weird AL back in 2010 after a concert he's so down to earth. I am jealous though if you got to meet Ozzy he's my all-time favorite singer
13 yo in Victoria BC. Went to (another) Al concert.. he came out in his “fat” suit XD, Started off the inflation of his suit RIGHT BESIDE ME!! Cameraman snapped a pic n The show carried on.. after show, while Al’s signing autographs at the front door, he picks me out hands me the pic signed n gives the classic “knucks” XD.. still have that Polaroid.. his face half fat, tongue hangin out an all I could hear was “you ain’t fat!!”
My dad sent this to my grandma because she would send everyone an email all the time. My grandma thought it was hilarious so she forwarded it to everyone.
your grandma is indomitable
😂
(-_-)
Glad your grandma has a sense of humor 😀
Mission failed successfully
After 11 years, no one has pointed out that this song is about Spam, in the style of Meatloaf? That next-level pun shows Al's true genius!
oh my God
His all time best joke might just be from a song that he'll never get to release. It's a tragedy. He wrote a version of "Live and let Die" (the Bond theme) called "Chicken pot pie"
Apparently he won't release it without Paul McCartney's approval, and being vegan, Paul couldn't quite bring himself to sign off on a song all about eating chicken
But just imagine it. You know the instrumental bit in the middle? The bit that goes "Dun-dun-dun"? Picture that bit in a song all about chicken:
"Bok-Bok-Bok! Bok-bok-bok…BOK-BOK! Bok-Bok-Bok! Bokbok-bok-Bok-BAWK"
@@douglaswolfen7820 such a tragedy
Weird Al's rant about emails *has outlasted the relevance of emails.*
That is *legendary* vision.
Now it applies perfectly to social media.
@@OptimusNiaa even more then i'd like lol

Most interdepartmental E-mail messages, especially those sent out by dippy make work middle mangers trying to improve morale are annoying, plentiful, and almost entierly useless. Don't believe me... Someone else may be doing it; through a chain effect in the past.
Someone pretending to be the person in the question.
haha funny.
The worst shit are the ones that say "Repost if you love God/your mom/your kids/your country or feel bad for people with disabilities".
Because it implies you DON'T love God, Jesus, your Mom, or care about kids with disabilities if you don't forward it. I just ignore them.
I think some people post these stuffs just to gain lots of shares and likes. It's like using the name of the Lord so that they will gain followers. If you love God, you don't need to repost post over and over, just follow his commandments and obey Him.
Ice Ramos You're right, the pages make those posts to get likes and shares. What annoys me is people actually share them instead of just ignoring them like they should.

The funniest part is that if they'd ever read Mathews, they'd know not to do that. They aren't giving glory to their God, they're giving it to themselves.

@thevideocloset Oh dear god, yes! Used to chat with a woman who would do this. I didn't have the heart to tell her to please stop...thankfully, she stopped on her own or my email learned to send it to my spam after the thritieth one forwarded to me.
Sounds like the choir is in there..
I once heard a convention center break into song.. Dead Puppys. Petty I have never found it on video.. ;-)
Al's original tunes never get any radio play, but they're epic. Dude's a true musician.
Sooooooo I guess this is an original...?
If not, what song is it a parody of?
Actually, he hasn't really made any "original" songs that I can think of.
I only mean "original" as in "not a parody of something else", and I am not knocking Al or his talent.
His "originals" are pretty much always style parodies. Not of a particular song, but rather of a sound a particular artist has.
This one is a parody of Meatloaf and Jim Steinman colabs, particularly from Bat out of Hell.
Particularly "Anything for Love" and even more so "Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are", despite not actually being a direct parody of either.
Put the latter into the CZcams search bar and you'll immediately hear what I mean.
@MsYogaGrrrl
Those are all style Parodies.
"Mr Frump" is a style parody of Arlo Guthrie's "Alice's Restaurant". This one is really hard to miss if you've heard the original.
"One More Minute" is an obvious style parody of 50s style ballads, The Platters and "The Great Pretender" in particular, but there's a bit of Elvis in there as well.
"The Night Santa Went Crazy" is a Soul Asylum style parody that throws in a little bit of Ozzy era Black Sabbath."
"Happy Birthday" is a style parody of songwriter Tonino K, who Al is a big fan of.
They are all technically original songs, but all of Al's music parodies someone else somehow or another as far as I know.
He's really, really good at pulling off the style and sound of other artists even when he's not lampooning a particular one of their songs.
@@contrabardus I love "One More Minute", but my favorite is "Christmas At Ground Zero". Such a brilliant parody of Phil Spector's "Wall of Sound" A Christmas Gift For You album.

Bless you, Weird Al. Saying what we all secretly think in gospel format.
Yes and it was inspired by Jim Steinman songs like Making Love Out of Nothing at All and Total Eclipse of the Heart.

(It’s actually a meat loaf parody)
"and I highly doubt some dead girl's gonna killme if I don't pass your letter aloooooooooong" lol I love that
The BCC part really hits hard. In my last job HR didn't figure that out as well, they sent out a "pay stub explanation" pamphlet to our personal e-mail addresses... All in CC's. I replied them, asking to kindly use blind copy in the future because I don't want all the people in the company to know my personal e-mail and they even got offended (the reply came in the form "Okay, we won't send you stuff like that in the future" but the tone of the message was clear). I think I should've replied that I will contact GDPR office, that might scare them a bit, but I didn't think of it at the time.

I just realized after more than a decade of listening to this song that it is a Meatloaf/Jim Steinman pastiche, and it is beautiful. I wish I could have heard Meatloaf himself sing it.
How come the best parodies from Weird Al are about the simplest funniest things... Like emails or drive-throughs and crap like that. (Well there's another reason to love Weird Al people)
But this isn't a parody. At the very least, it adopts a particular music style, but it's not a parody.
Because we all relate to the message somehow.
Pepperoni Blaster 0
Ralph Anthony Espos It's called a "style parody"
Because it has the largest platform for jokes/rhymes/references/rhythm and is widely the most relatable.
This song proves Weird Al's voice is perfect for any song with any pace.

As a dad who relies on my jokes, I feel under attack.
Still love ya Al
Just found it! Beautifull, gonna forward this to all my friends...
I love that bait-and-switch at the start. It's like "Is...Is this a serious song by Weird A-Oh, nevermind."
