I graduated from College with a diploma in information systems and lived in a city in NewBrunswick. I was brought up in the woods and on a river so I always needed my weekly fix of it so at the same time as my information system career I ran my own snow blowing company in winter and did some logging in the summer. It was all great but it never satisfied my sense of adventure but I continue to support my family. I am now semi retired, my kids are now adult and on their own so I have a sense of freedom that I don't want to waste. I was looking at the Yukon and found this. I think my next Journey just might be the Yukon.

Is there a demand in the field of scientific computing in the Yukon? Also, is there demand for lecturers in mathematics and computer science? I want to move from Ontario to Yukon, but I'm not sure if I'll be demanded. I'm an MSc in applied / computational mathematics. Not sure if I will fit in there, but would like to.
Why save up money? You can earn it there. I want to move to Yukon, buy a mortgage-free home (maybe even a mobile home for now), and look for self-development in the IT field.
How can you afford to live there? Not that amazing, looks like any small town in Ontario! Nothing special! It cost more to live there and it's pretty much a frozen shit hole 8 months of the year! The Yukon Government is corrupt and they only care about big money! If yo're middle class or poor and you think you're going to find something affordable to rent in Whitehorse you're only kidding yourself! Unless you have lots of money banked up and a really good job or job offer and you can afford to buy or mortgage a house and pay the crazy heating bill in the winter forget about Whitehorse! I lived there, I have 1 family member there who is moving out ASAP! I loved visiting the Yukon and at one time Whitehorse was nice but not now. I loved going to Dawson City and other little towns but Whitehorse unfortunately has been corrupted and taken over by the big money! Just look at the rents online! It's insane! I could live in Downtown Vancouver right by the beach for that price! It might be nice for a visit but watch out because everything is expensive! Just getting there cost an arm and a leg! I could go to Mexico for less than that! Are you kidding me!
