17:25 Infinity War Talk
1smallball Many thanks
Papa bless.
A true hero.
1smallball thank you.
Thank you
Mark was right. You can tell this crowd really appreciate these type of folks. It’s near silent when Kevin & Mark talk. It’s great.
It's the sound guy, I find it annoying. It makes it sound like a laugh track
Thank God! I have been going through withdrawals with out this show!
Home schooled?
EccentricSM, understandably you would be forgiven for thinking so! Fatman on Batman is one of the few shows that convinced me to subscribe to CZcams red.
Doctor Strange knew where Thor and Loki were when they arrived on Earth in Ragnarok. Doctor Strange knew where Tony was in the park with Pepper. Bruce and Tony have a conversation in front of Doctor Strange about not knowing where Vision is and needing to call Steve Rogers to find out.
17:17 IW talk. Consider me floored that Mark Bernardan has a problem with IW not wasting any time & following Thanos the villain as he invades. With a film jam packed with characters it was actually brilliant. He's the most underused aspect leading up throughout the MCU. But the Russos fucking nailed it in character interaction & character study. He's the invading force. It was a brilliant move by Marvel. Also Stark, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, GOTG & Thor are bloody brilliant.
Nathan Parrish This same guy (Marc)would have cried foul if they had wasted time and not followed thanos. he would have cried again that i didnt buy into the villain.. blah blah blah
Bhavishya Agrawal I think he’s speaking purely from a marketing point of view . The trailers led you to believe otherwise .
With all due respect to Kevin and Marc, the problem Warner Bros/DC has had is hiring "names" for their movies - on BOTH sides of the camera - rather than getting people that care about the properties. Jon Favreau was best known as an actor from "Swingers" and had directed "Elf" before they gave him "Iron Man," but he cared about the character. WB/DC said "Zack Snyder makes pretty movies!" and he gave them "let those kids die to keep your secrets" Jonathan Kent and hitchhiker-Clark Kent.
WarCry75 and most importantly they need a Kevin feige to lead the universe with a overall vision for the universe. DC has no plan and change any plan they do have on the fly
Agreed. I thought they were handing the reigns to Geoff Johns, but they've already pulled that plug before they even gave him the chance to do anything.
Lol fucking biased my man. Check Zacks Vero that guy genuinely cares. Warner Bros just doesn’t have the balls and most of the fans are just full of hatred.
WarCry75 Right? I didn't understand hobo Clark Kent in MoS.
ha ha 18:58 gotta love that quick-wit Kevin Smith has
I live in Britain, and our prince George is a five year old boy who's second in line for the throne, so the phrase _"we are in Prince George!"_ just sounds very wrong.
I've realized something: I don't like chicken. I just like watching Kevin Smith while I eat chicken... I think.... I could go vegan, you guys.
It's actually not as hard as Yeaah think. :P Especially if you discover daia cheese.
lol, is this a throwback to a comment that kevin made a few weeks ago?
Chicken is one of the primary food groups. If you don't eat it, where will you get your daily chicken allowance?
ROFL, yeah, I know, right? I'm not sure what Kevin was saying. I LOVE the taste of chicken and eggs. Quail, turkey, get some pheasant up in there, too.
While watching Infinity War couldn't stop thinking how weird is it that *this could have been DC's* the money the success if they didn't back out of that George Miller directed Justice League movie literally the first day they started filming based on a mix of Tower of Babel and OMAC Project written in the spirit of the 2006's JLA comics meant to kick off a cinematic universe back in 2009 when Marvel barely getting started because they felt big superhero movies and shared universes would never catch on. How crazy is that when you think about it how close we are to a world where the biggest movie of this year could have been Infinite Crisis instead Infinity War but one wrong decision and well you know the rest.
46:20 Best Kevin Smith Reaction Ever lol
Having watched i decided to go give The Highwaymen a read. Great series Marc, thanks for the great read.
first time watcher....this was great. like a stand up review on movies and culture itself. salute
Teekarow welcome
Give Peter Jackson Etrigan the Demon.
Or just give him that and more with Justice League Dark no?
green lantern corp
jay folk What dirt does he have on these movie studios that they keep giving him work?
767scarecrow We are getting into the age where solo characters aren't the way to go. Need them groups.
Moral: don't watch 31 straight hours of movies... period.
where is the rest of the video?
Marc: I wrote a comic book ten years ago for DC called The Highwaymen.
Kevin: Who wrote it?
Kevin's question was referring to the movie, not the comic book.
Messed up that Marc isn't going to be paid anything for it.
Don't feel bad for Marc. He decided the contract with DC (where they own the character/book) was to HIS advantage, he was paid for his work, it was all voluntary. Both sides got what they wanted, both sides came out ahead. If he wanted to retain ownership of the character, he could have shopped it around to another publisher. It's not messed in any way. Now, if I were DC, I would hire Marc as one of the writers for the film, since he knows them better than anyone else.
Joe Knipp If I were DC I would pay him for it and also give him a percentage of all home media sales :
What would DC be without all the writers and artists they've exploited over the years? They also did the same (or worse) to Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster, who in order to get paychecks, had to sign away all rights to their creation, Superman.
So many hotels in Prince George because it is halfway through BC and a stopping off place for anyone traveling East of PG or North of it.
How ridiculous lol. Sitting in a theater for 31hours watching marvel films before infinity war. By the time you get to infinity war you are done. Tired, sleepy, hungry, in need of a bath and in no position to enjoy lol.
It's absolute INSANITY to me to see such an anticipated movie in such dire circumstances, a theatre filled with sweaty people, stinking as they haven't bathed. I was anticipating Infinity War so much I had to see it under the best conditions possible. It makes me question Marks judgement on anything.
Or how awesome! I’m sure there were breaks and you can sleep through a couple in the middle. I’m sure everyone there had seen them all before. It’s about the experience!
Sam Fisher. Agreed. Why not just watch all those movies at your own house over the course of a week? Or even two.
I've been waiting for this...getting both of you together again since your health changes. You guys balance each other out nicely! Hopefully you get back to that bar together when you're less busy. Great chemistry guys!!
Peter Jackson on Kingdom Come...or Justice League: Injustice
- "I've seen at least 5-6 hotels..."
- "Then you didn't count them all and you missed a BUNCH"
LMFAO
starlord: lost his mom, killed the dad he always wanted to know, just heard the girl he loves and died in space for (gotg1) died, gets emotional.
marc: "i hate him." - like, really dude?
peter quill is allowed to get emotional, specially if you think ironman trying to kill bucky in civil war is fine...
Andres Borges god forbid he act emotional, i dont understand people wanting logical descions all the time.
You want a movie like that?
Go watch 'The Lobster' or 'Killing of a Sacred Deer'.
Whoa useless? Did u forget he got the better of Iron Man and Spider-man in Thanos ship, before they knew each other weren't enemies mind you.
Jay, people just completely ignore normal human reaction to satisfy some fantasy of what they want the movie to be. Star Lord's actions were very human and very real.
What happened the good old timestamps?
You are breaking my heart about your dislike of Tolkien, Kev. BTW, Congrats, Marc!
Kevin and Mark back together again! I've been waiting for this like I've been waiting for the Avengers to reassemble.
I haven't watched Fox since they cancelled Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Ruza Roos
Werd!!!
That was a great show...
ZenRyoku It really was. I enjoyed it immensely, and we got left with a cliffhanger that will never get resolved. Sucks.
you haven't missed anything good, except for House M.D but just the first 3 seasons.
The Last Starfighter
Whataya mean ive seen all 8,9 10 however many seasons of House. Dr. Gregory House is one of the most fantastic characters ever creative, with Hugh Laurie being such a phenomenal actor... Most episodes ive seen twice
Fair, that is pretty unforgivable.
Summer Glau = Best Terminator
never watch a movie marathon before the premiere of the next one... it's very chancy that you'll like the new one, it's less than 50% chance because the new movie may have a totally different tone and it's totally out of your control (you have control of when to re-watch the older movies though). Oh and it's Ouroboros. Marc doesn't know how to keep his hands off his face but I don't mind if he don't mind, well maybe I mind a little.
The moment finally came. Marc is officially heavier than Kevin :)
That second stormtrooper seems drunk
Nah it's just Luke.
Why were they even there ?
That was me, I wasn't drunk I just could barley see anything (didn't have my glasses) and it was super dark leading up to the stage, plus the tint on the helmet lenses makes it SUPER hard to see even in good light. I'm just happy I didn't trip and fall flat on my face...
Or thunk your head on a door...
It’s tough to see in those helmets... good job Imperial R&D.
REALLY cool to hear Marc's news about "The Highwaymen" ...!! i've got his TPB for "Genius, Vol 1" (wish there was a Vol. 2), and recently picked up his take on "Push." didn't know about "Highwaymen" so i'm grabbing it off Amazon now. thanks Marc!
How can Mark still think that Peter screwed up the plan Dr. Strange could have stopped Peter if he wanted to but he did nothing.
Exactly and it’s in Peters character to do so.
Keith Moody being half celestial, he's the most human of them all.... poor republican chris
Yeah it's a weird thing to complain about. It was pretty clear that even though Peter screwed up the plan, it was a plan that was never going to work and wasn't part of the end game.
Dr Strange flat out said that there was only one way to win. And that involved him saving Tony by handing over the time stone.
Mary-Anne Jack And he also says something along the lines of now the endgame begins .
jerik banzam Republican? The hell does that mean?
The pizza at "the french maid" in Calgary Central is the best Parmesan and ham pizza I have ever had. Believe in the food.
FYI Prince George is actually middle British Columbia. I used to live in Fort Nelson, which is actual Northern BC. That's another 9 hours drive north.
Thanks for the Alaska shout out!!! We're just now entering into the extended daylight.
i loved Avengers and Deadpool2 :P
Christian Stoleski me too! DP rolling around in Xavier's wheelchair was hilarious. And the Basic Instinct leg crossing scene, oh my. 😃
NO WAY, BILL... WAY! TED!!!!
Let Peter Jackson make a Green Lantern movie haha it has a power ring in it.
I was born in Vanderhoof BC just outside of PG.
I really liked Lucifer... Great show...
But if they didn't stretch out to let Chloe Decker get the true understanding of who Lucifer really was... (so much filler), it would have lasted much longer...
Kevin, are you going to rebook HBO in Calgary soon? We were really hoping to see you.
It's interesting that I hear so much of a reaction to Parker's death in IW. I felt virtually nothing for him, even though I was definitely reeling from all the other deaths. What ruined Parker's death for me was that it took so much longer than everyone else's. That took me right out of the movie and I remember thinking that they had done that to ham-fistedly force a long, soul-wrenching death scene. Also, while I've seen all the other movies in the series, I haven't seen SM:H yet, so there is subtext I didn't get, but the fact that Peter faded at about a quarter of the speed of everyone else broke the scene for me.
I even tried to somersault my brain into believing that Peter had some greater resilience than the others who had faded before him, but that did not hold up at all because two characters who are objectively more powerful than he (Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange) went out at the same rate as everyone else.
The first time I saw it the entire cinema was silent during the credits as we were all in shock
I'm going to say this before Kevin says it: For Peter Jackson in the DC Universe, he should take on anything "Vertigo", including all the Endless (with massive input from Neil Gaiman, of course).
I'll agree with the first part. Keep Neil out of it though. The guy literally hates and tears down every adaptation of any story he has ever touched. He even hated the Watchmen and V for Vendetta movies.
Can not wait for Bill and Ted 3 hell yeah
I loved Tank Girl!
What the fuck? Is Bernardin the only one who thought Infinity War wasn't gonna be about Thanos????
This shit is 10 years in the making.
Must've been living under a rock.
"Isn't he tired of fucking hobbits yet?" Kevin made a funny without even trying
💩
I've been waiting for Kevin to finish his run on Batman. This is gonna be awesome.
The loss we feel when the finger-snap deaths started happening... well, what I felt, wasn't personal loss, it was vicarious loss. We know that at least some of those deaths are not going to stick because Spock came back and so has Superman and so on. Comic books, especially, bring characters back all the time and we all know that.
Real life, however, does not. That is what the loss we feel is. The characters who survive have lost people in real life and they are experiencing the deaths for real in their reality. We feel it through them.
Tony just felt Peter die in his arms. Wanda watched her love, Vision, die. The T'Chalans have lost their leader. I can't remember where Rocket ended up, but all his friends are dead, far as he knows.
On top of that, at least some of the people we saw die finger-snap deaths thought they were actually dying*, so that is also affecting.
We don't have to know someone is actually dying to feel something about their "death" and among this movie's colossal achievements is that it made us feel loss and maybe even desolation because of deaths we should well know are not permanent or even actually deaths.
Random note: my favorite characters in these movies are Hill and Maximoff, so I'm excited to see what happened to them and eager to see them interacting with the rest who "died" at the end of IW. I assume they're not dead, but in some other reality or whatever.
*I think at least Strange and Fury knew better. I'd like to think Hill was also in the wise.
It was Thor. Thor fucked up. He should've went for the head instead of talking shit. Thanos said as much. Look at how he held their heads like children after he beat them. They've earned his respect. He was "honest and honorable" to all of the Avengers throughout the film but Thor was on some bloodlust shit.
You can see the Thor story is parallel to Thanos. They just reversed it. The film focused on Thanos like he was the protagonist on a hero's quest and Thor as if he was the Antagonist searching for an ultimate weapon. At the end they finally meet and "bad guy" Thor tries to thwart our "hero" Thanos but fails and he saves the galaxy with that finger snap. Then he gets away at the last moment and the "bad guys" lose. Afterwards he rests at the end watching a sunset. Mission Accomplished.
I almost wished they didn't even call it Avengers but it makes sense.
I fucking loved "Tank Girl!"
Cheech and Chong, Bill and Ted, Wayne and Garth, Jay and silent Bob
Oh wow, that story Kevin told about when they zoomed in on the pager, and thought it could have shown Fantastic Fours , Four symbol. Just THINKING that made me excited. If that had happened in the sold out theater I was at, the 1000 people there would have erupted in cheers.
Well it's about time
I would have wanted to see it 10x more had the trailer reviews had one or two saying, "Kevin Smith - NOOOOO!!!!" or "Kevin Smith - OH FUUUCKK!"
Good show, but... DAMN, that went by quick!
I would like Kevin and Marc's take on 1 thing I noticed that I believe absolutely confirms Soulworld. When the dusted disappears, their eyes turn the same color as the Soul Stone right at the last second. I believe this means they're all in Soulworld like everyone has discussed but this confirms it. I also believe the Soul Stone picked those souls the Stone wanted. Not random
Shawn Davies Or Gamora made it happen . I totally expect to see them all in their own Soul World. I think for T’Challah he’s going to become the King of the Dead Black Panthers like in the comics .
Lonnie Dearing now thats a good theory.... Gamora controlled it from SoulWorld... now thats thinking outside the box
Give Peter Jackson THE AUTHORITY. He would be amazing doing that, it's the perfect fit.
I'm a Kiwi and I think Peter Jackson is making a mistake getting involved with this new Tolkien stuff. Recently he has been restoring WWI movie footage for the Brits, and it looks awesome. He is supposed to be doing a Dambusters remake too.
Good episode, but that abrupt ending! I was just getting into the episode haha
You're right, Mark. Why wouldn't WB/DC want to spend just as much or more on a character hardly anyone knows as they do on a show with some of their most famous characters?
Guillermo del Toro for a Martian Manhunter, Jon Jonez, movie.
The Inhumans will probably get rebooted after the Xmen and the Fantastic Four are settled into the MCU.
Mark Keller I doubt that. Marvel has a lot of other very marketable titles to try out before that happens.
They don't need a lot. Just the ones I mentioned.
They'd have to really upgrade the budget, the special effects, the acting, and the writing. That's all. :) I'll really miss The Expanse, though. That show was getting seriously intense.
Firstname That's what a reboot basically is.
Well, first off, I wanted to be clear that in my opinion the show DESERVED to get cancelled; but second, just because something is rebooted doesn't necessarily mean it will be better by leaps and bounds. Honestly, I'd be surprised at this point if anyone was willing to put up the money for a reboot, but only time will tell....
Peter Jackson for Legion of Super Heroes. A whole universe to play with and doesn't need to worry about the rest of the DCEU since his film would be so far in the future.
Jason Trickle I think they should have had him an Etrigon movie 😎
WTF?
Currently, Peter Jackson is in the running to co-produce the "Matrix 4"
with Christopher Nolan.
With the Wachowski directing.
:; The hypergraphic Book and screenplay is online: facebook.com/TheMatrixEpic/
Well since Jackson likes mythos and legends I think he'd do great versions of Shazam/Capt. Marvel and or Dr Fate.
considering how many heroes they had to put in there not having hawkeye and antman; the movie should be given a pass for underutilizing someone. what kind of underutilizing are we talking about it, anyway? ask me something about one of them on what they did or said that memorable and I can answer it. each character had atleast some moment to shine.
and what about thanos? you cant expect marvel to build him up for over 10 years just to stepenwolf him. if anything, this is a character driven movie about the titan himself and his method to the madness.
personally I think marvel purposely written that dr strange foresaw 17 million outcomes just to come up with an excuse that whatever chain of events anyone can think of to secure victory; it will end in failure except the one way marvel wants us to believe and follow... and that is dr strange handing over the time stone so thanos can finally rapture half the universe.
This was great live. 780 km drive was worth it.
I just watched it on CZcams
$1.31 it wasn't cheap. Still worth it.
DC needs to reverse their policy of not letting the DC TV shows use certain characters.
James Davidson they got batwoman now. On arrow i think.
Thats because Batwoman is not a majorly popular character but they wouldnt allow Gotham to use The Joker properly and Arrow wasnt allowed to use Harley Quinn and the suicide squad
No they don’t. It’s bad enough that the TV and movie universes are different. Letting the TV shows use higher profile characters would just make it worse all the way around.
How? Cameron Monaghan is a far greater Joker than Jared Leto. DC are just spitting in the fans faces by doing this. the only reason for it is greed and ego
Daddy Crowell how? Letting TV build these characters will help the movies. As you will have the people watching the TV show wanting to see the movies more as they will be invested in them . You don’t even have to have the same people playing them on TV and the movies .
Hell yeah!! Ming is just wandering through the Great White North and came upon Mark.
Not at the Cantina?
IMDB doesnt list Tom Holland in Avengers 4. What does that tell us?
Yes, I too thought that it would be a 4. They will arrive soon enough. Because they are...FANTASTIC.
Movies were harder to make back in the day. I am still baffled by movies like the E.Taylor Cleopatra. How TF?
Would you believe that I ordered a grill cheese from a stripclub before? Turned out to be the greatest grilled cheese I’ve ever had. No one believed me so I brought my friends to try it out. They all agreed. Best grilled cheese ever.
Peter Jackson's DC Kingdom Come. I don't think I can go to the movies anymore after that. Thanos left theater crying saying: "I take it back. I TAKE IT ALL BACK!"
I thought it would be the #4 on the beeper too.
Marc has shit views on Infinity War and the movie made it clear from the start that it was Thanos' story.
The Haven He also doesn’t realize how if someone you love is murdered and you meet her killer you’ll want to hurt that individual .
Lonnie Dearing - Exactly. Just basic common sense and logical issues he's making into something so complex for no reason at all.
The Haven Yeah and despite their name the Guardians or the Galaxy aren’t actual Guardians or the Galaxy .
The Haven Marc was veeeeery sleep deprived during his first watch of this movie.
Seems like an idiotic choice to make for someone who gives their reviews on films
""Are you from Earth?"
"I'm from Missouri."
"Missouri IS on Earth. Dipshit."
Ah...hearing Iron Man call another MCU hero a dipshit on the big screen. What a time it is to be alive.
strippers in Northern BC actually buy a magnet wand to pick up the change, i'm not even joking
@ Kevin and Marc I liked the Movie but the issue I had it Thanos' motivation doesn't make sense. If you kill half the universe you are just delaying them running out of resources not stopping them. The GotG can repair their ship they live on with a backpack nanobot pressure washer and they can run out of resources? If that were his motive why wouldnt he just Taraform planets so there's double the resources...
It is about time he gives us the back 6 issues of Batman: The Widening Gyre! I hope he is seriously going to do it!
There's a large market for movie props that were actually worn by the actors on screen.
Glad you boys came up to PG, hope it was worth the trip to the Great White North. And yes I'm aware you were in other provinces over that week, but we all know BC is Best. 😎
Give Peter Jackson Arkham Asylum with Andy Serkis as The Joker
It's poetic that Captain Marvel, arguably the strongest Marvel Superhero, is coming to save the Marvel Universe. So, no, FF would not have been better.
That is one crazy short Boba. Isnt he meant to be Mandalorian?
did anyone else notice the storm trooper couldnt see...
What does it all mean ?
He got the Alan Moore treatment from DC
Kevin Smith have you watched the expanse? If not you should check it out, it really needs support so it can get renewed, one of the best hard scifi shows in 20 years
Why is Kevin's barometer for badness Tusk? Does he not remember Yoga Hosers?
Yoga Hosers was the absolute worst... I could barely make it through it. Tusk was actually kind of amusing.
Kevin is a class act, he's not going to dump on Yoga Hosers because his daughter starred in it. I'll grant you though I haven't added to my Kevin Smith collection since Zack & Miri. I really wasn't a fan of the artwork in the animated Jay & Silent Bob movie & I don't own Red State, Tusk or Yoga Hosers. They're not the worst films I've ever seen, far from it but I'd sooner watch them again back to back without the benefit of recreational drugs than sit through Justice League a second time.
Dude... Peter Jackson on Swamp Thing... something epic and dark fantasy-ish, with horror notes.
we all know it was Don Cheddil that took the suite the little brotha just walked in and took the suite.
Just watched ur showtime special i didnt think u could get any fuckin cooler but goddamn u did luv ur work always will
OK. Just got this ep in my algorithm, b/c I recently watched this year’s (‘21) Blackman Beyond episode from there w Marc & Ming. Anyway, the ending’s a tad abrupt, no? Maybe it’s an homage to the finale scene of the Sopranos. (Spoilers)
Not only is the suit stolen. it's no longer mint in box.
the Jets are out now ?
Been waiting along time for this review
I feel the same way Smith feels about the Lord of The Rings movies about the books, I barely got through the first book and quit.
They need to give Fables to Peter Jackson, he would crush that.
