About 14 years ago when Dustin used to live across the street from where you live now he gave me a 200 cc Honda e x three wheeler and a 2-seater Murray go kart. I cut the go-kart from the seat back and I cut the neck and down tube off of the three wheeler and welded them up. it was way faster than the shifter kart I sold you I gave it to my cousin and he sold it a week later LOL but I love the video and can't wait to see more.

I’ve been waiting on this!! I used this exact motor on my racing mower..when I geared it I went from 18t on motor to 18t JS IN / 18t JS OUT, to 48t I believe in the rear and it tached out so fast that I thought the gearing was messed( I got the motor used, in rough shape and rebuilt the top end and now she starts every time!) I was running some 6” Dunlop slicks on the front and rear and I ended up putting some bigger wheels on and it was going through all gears, so due to the wheels being so small my gearing was 2 short so I had to change my JS OUT gear to a 30t !!! Now she will go 60-65 no problem!! I actually used the old lever that put the blades up and down as my shifter.. I just put a handle bar grip and a clutch lever on it so I pull the lever in and bang that thang in gear! It’s a lot of fun! People look at me like I’m crazy in my neighborhood , but who cares if your having fun right? I put a 30mm carb on my 200 and she runs really good and strong! Along with the UNI dual stage filter.. just my experience with my build not sure if that helps or not.. AWESOME VIDEO! Can’t wait to see the final product!!

Judging by the thumb nail on the next episode you guys thankfully ditched those brackets holding that jack shaft in mid air. I’m a heavy duty mechanic for 25yrs I still occasionally over engineer when problem solving, so not throwing shade. Always a great feeling when you have those breakthroughs and find the most efficient and creative solutions.

Super build, I have some suggestions. You can eliminate a lot of that jack shaft overhang by either sliding the engine over to the right or just notch out and reinforce the old mounting plate so the chain can drop down thru it. A sprocket out on the end of a jackshaft far away from a bearing can and probably Will bend that jack shaft. You guys are going to be doing hole shots and popping the clutch to wheelie. That will put a Huge load on that jackshaft. If you don't want to do either those suggestions, you can get a longer jackshaft and fab up another pillow block on the end to support the shaft.
I have a Good welding tip. When you butt weld steel plates, put a big bevel on ALL edges to be welded together. That will assure the weld penetrates to the center of the plates. If you just butt weld without the bevels then grind away the welds to make the plate flat, you have very, very little holding the two pieces together. Your jackshaft plates will probably crack or separate where you welded them. Keep an eye on them.
Nice build, I love it. I'm just trying to help and give you some info to make it better. Keep up the good work.

Used one of these in a buggy when the 150 died. Rated to 12-14hp. Used a 9 tooth sprocket on the motor and a 39 tooth rear. With 22inch tyres it could do donuts on the road with a clutch kick. Try to use all the mounting locations on the motor or you can crack the case and snap the mounts off.

Hey Red Beard, if you do a shifter kart again buy that same engine suited for a quad bike because you get a reverse gear included. I used one for my racing mower an it rips great in my class. Though it'll be getting a much bigger displacement motor when i find something decent 😀 i also put one of these lifan motors on a kart like yours an had an issue with the chain touching the casing near the gear selector seal, i got around it by making a chain tensioner. I will lovve to see how you get around your set up 😀 cheers Mark

@Red Beard's Garage : You could have mounted the motor the other way around and use the other end of the jack shaft to put a gear on it and run to the axle so that the exhaust could have poured out the back end of the kart and you could use a belt/chain tensioner so that you don't have to keep adjusting the chain.

Only potential issue I see is you set the engine with the cylinder straight up. Most motorcycle engines, this one included which looks to be a Honda cb200 clone, have the crankcase level with a slight angle to the front of the bike on the cylinder and head. The way you have it should be fine, but checking oil level might be a problem, as the crankcase is higher on the front than the rear.

Check that sprocket I think most 200cc atv used a 428 chain. he sprocket may be marked.

It is a 428 sprocket. and it will be very difficult to find a matching 428 keyed shaft mount sprocket for the jackshaft. I'm building a similar setup and brazed a 428 pit bike counter shaft sprocket to a keyed hub

Yes it will be hard to find the way you did it will be the simpilest way! But it should be drilled to the size of the shaft for sentering and electric welded.

I annealed the 428 sprocket with the oxy/actylene torch, bored it out on the lathe and it indexes on a step/shoulder on the new keyed hub. brazing is plenty strong and as a plus it was hot enough after brazing that when i quenched it it put some hardness back into it. I contemplated mig or tig welding it, brazing came out beautiful and seamless.

it would be a good idea to set the motor level both ways , front to back and side to side , the way you have it's too high in the front and if you try to use the sight gauge to check the oil level you will have too much oil in it , just my two cents

I love this build can’t wait until it’s done! Are you going to weld some gussets on the front engine mount so it doesn’t torque?

Bizego Innovations Don't tell them anything, he's a smartass, I misunderstood something on his channel and private messaged him about it, he corrected me because I was actually BIG TIME WRONG so I messaged him back and apologized. He replied like a complete douche very arrogant. He puts up a big smoke screen. I unsubscribed today.
