    These videos actually helped. And I truly mean that I’ve been teaching myself to sing with your videos along with videos from other vocal coaches but you are by far the best and most expressive. I have gotten a little bit better just from your videos. Thank you :)))

    Can u please do a basics video for vocal beginners like myself who just hopped on the vocal bandwagon 😁 such as how to find your range and vocal type, vibrato, mis consumption about singing and so on.. 😘💗

      ***** great, but what about vibrato, to me i think adding this technique really makes the voice sound polished and refined, but it's not as easy as i thought :(

      +Boda.B HI there! Thank you for commenting! I'm glad you liked the video! I'd be happy to put a video out there for you on any of these topics. This information is presented to you in a way that allows you to feel what works best for you, and what doesn't. So take what resonates with you, and leave the rest for later. The only rule with singing that I have is 1.) Does it feel good to me? 2.) Does it communicate what I'm trying to express in my heart? Your speaking voice will reveal so much to you about your singing voice. So pay attention to the quality of the way your speech feels. And PLAY as often as you can with lengthening your speech to sound melodic. That will put you in touch with feeling your singing as if you are speaking...just on pitch. As you are playing, try not to mentalize your singing process so much in terms of right and wrong. Only 1.) Does it feel good? 2.) Does my sound express how I feel in my heart.
      Here are a couple of videos that I think may answer some of your questions..
      Range:
      czcams.com/video/temMd2x6ErE/video.html
      How to improve your voice:
      czcams.com/video/rtB0nP3HPnc/video.html
      Belting techniques for beginners:
      czcams.com/video/XxxncCUBLwY/video.html
      Your vocal classification really refers to the thickness of your vocal cords. Alto's will have a earthier, darker tone. (Think Adel) Mezzo Sopranos will have a punchy mid level - high focused tone (think Christina Aguilera, or Beyonce) and Sopranos have a sharp bight focused tone (Avril Lavigne, Ariana Grande) As you can see, vocal classification doesn't refer to how low or high you can sing, because these ladies have wonderful ranges...it's really referring to where you feel the sweetest, most delicious parts of your range exist for you. I hope that answers your question! Thank you again for commenting! Happy Singing!

      Madeleine Harvey thank you very much for your help, i'm not aspiring to become a singer or anything, i just want to learn what's enough for me and do so in a healthy way ;) you have been a great help.. and i'm very glad you actually take time to write back to your comments which is so rare.. you are a great teacher and keep rockin' hunnie ;3 PS: i have a really nosy high pitched voice (vanessa hudgens like) but hey if she can do it so can i, right?

      +Madeleine Harvey Sorry to mind you here, since you replied comments but ignored mine I don't know if I offended you (if that, I'm really sorry). But I really want to know: Should I watch and learn from both Felicia Ricci and you? I don't mean like "Hey I think you're good but she's cooler so I don't know who should I follow?" NO I DON'T MEAN THAT because I totally can't judge. What I mean is as a beginner who's practicing alone (maybe for now), could taking it/learning from different vocal coachs/many vocal coachs make me more confused and stressful? Because I'm really serious about this finding my singing voice, It means so much to me, and I want to work in a productive way.
      (I'm not really good at English, hope I don't use any wrong words)

    • @MadeleineHarveyVoice
      @MadeleineHarveyVoice  Před 8 lety +7

      +CompliCatted thank you for your comment. To answer your question..the biggest freedom you have with studying through CZcams is that of choice. There is exposure to many ideas and teaching styles. So you are free to choose what exercises work best for you. It's really not so much of an issue of becoming confused or stressed..it's more about exploring your voice and deciding what resonates best for you. What puts you in touch with your voice best? It doesn't have to be this or that, it could be this AND that. In regards to my delayed response to your question, I try to respond with comments as my work schedule permits. If you feel your question was overlooked, it was not intentional. Thank you for watching these videos! I hope to see you here again soon!

    I’m watching this, because I’m singing “Ain’t it fun” & “Still Into You” by Paramore, and “Sweet but Psycho” by Ava Max for an event, and I do have edge to my voice but it’s kind of a “deeper” edge (I don’t know if that makes sense), instead of a “surface” edge. So I’m really good at rock Ballads, but not really upbeated songs lol...I’m working on putting more edge and emphasis into upbeat songs, while trying to not sound like I’m trying too hard lol...any more tips for me??? Because the songs I’m singing are more upbeat hahaha..
    My actual CZcams channel is Chey Taylor, if u don’t know what I mean by deeper edge.
    It’d mean a lot if you had any tips, but I know this video was posting quite a while back lol. 😂🖤

    I am a tenor due to a pituitary tumor, I both love and hate my voice. I come from the background with the love for rock and metal music, but also soft ballads, jazz and choral music. Ultimately I want to focus on my rock and metal sound and I've just discovered you're videos so I haven't yet implemented these techniques. Because of my history, I have maintained a soft, weak voice that sounds good in pitch but lacking in overall tone, Volume/strength, power. What extra advice might you have for me?

    • @MadeleineHarveyVoice
      @MadeleineHarveyVoice  Před 8 lety +1

      +Arturo Valdivia My mantra for the inhale/exhale process is open in - open out. As you are guiding the breath into the face, think of the voice gliding on the breath in the same way a sigh feels. Sigh upwards into your facial resonators.

    • @arturov4147
      @arturov4147 Před 8 lety

    Do you have a quick fix for a light Soprano voice ( i think) with a high larynx and very little resonance ?

    • @MadeleineHarveyVoice
      @MadeleineHarveyVoice  Před 8 lety +6

      +nancyann78 If your larynx is high, that is going to drastically limit your resonance. I would suggest playing with with narrow vowels, like "EEE" and "OOO." This will get your column of air focusing towards your face while keeping your larynx stable. You could even pretend a little "opera diva" as you over exaggerate the shape of the both the EE and OO. (But shape the EE sound more like a OO on your lips, while feeling the EE in the back. ) I know that's werid - but think "Fish lips" as you create that shape. This keeps your tone forward and your larynx in a stable position. It also adds polish on your overall sound. Let me know if this helps! Can't wait to hear you sing!

    • @MadeleineHarveyVoice
      @MadeleineHarveyVoice  Před 8 lety +1

      HI There! Thanks for your question! Developing a higher tone quality is a combination of things such as resonance and vocal cord coordinations. Here is a video that I think will get you started..It addresses vocal cord coordinations czcams.com/video/9lRRF6lJtJE/video.html I'm putting up another video tonight about "How to develop Head Voice" and that will help at aiming your resonance into your head spaces without any squeakiness. I hope this helps! Lots of love!
