Chrome Delete With Plasti Dip Honda Civic Emblems

  • Today I show you how to chrome delete your emblems/badges with Plasti Dip. Its a simple mod/upgrade for any car but my particular car is a 2021 Honda Civic Hatchback EX model. It leaves a matte finish but you can gloss it up with Plasti Dip Glossifier.
    For a little over $6, its a super cheap mod to do. It took me about 3.5 hours to complete due to drying time between sprays and the can still feels full even after the project. One can should last me for my second project of chrome deleting my window trim, maybe even more.
    I purchased my Plasti Dip at Lowes. You can probably find them at your own local hardware stores.

    • @SpendingJar
      @SpendingJar  Před rokem

      @user-qw9nf4rt3t think of it as vinyl in a spray can. It'll stick to the surface but it's removable. The chrome trim piece and where the roof line is, there is a groove. So when you peel the excess off, the groove is essentially cutting the plastidip to have a clean rip. If it was 1 solid piece, it won't cut like it did in the video.

      Hi and thanks for checking out the video! This is one question I get asked a lot. I think I should make another video showing in more detail.
      But to answer the question, the emblem is slightly raised due to the double sided tape. So when you peel it off, it cuts itself off from that raised part. Hopefully this makes sense. I need to black out another emblem so in that video, I'll try to get a close-up when I peel it.

    • @SpendingJar
      @SpendingJar  Před 3 lety

      Hi and thanks for checking out my video. I think it be easier plastidipping it on. But if you want to remove the spoiler lip and its held on by tape, my opinion is (of course still do your research):
      Try to remove on a sunny day, leave the car out to help soften the tape and use a hair dryer if needed to heat up the tape that's holding the spoiler on the trunk. Then use a fishing line to cut through the tape that's underneath the spoiler. After the spoiler comes off, you need to clean all the residue off the spoiler and the trunk before applying new tape. Make sure its throughly clean.
      Hope this helps 👍

    • @SpendingJar
      @SpendingJar  Před 3 lety +1

      It peels the emblem part off with it? I'm guessing its the same car and OEM emblem... If you haven't already, I would try peeling off slowly around the emblems. It should just cut off from my experience.
      Also maybe do lighter sprays when spraying in an angle, maybe there is too much plastidip around the edges of the emblem that it peels it off with it. When you spray, it should be layers of light spray, nothing runny, just a slight wet look.
      Best of luck if you try again. Hopefully it works out 👍
