- In almost 30 years we've never had an official release of the Ninja Falcon Megazord from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie.
Enter Fardonne 3D, a modeller artist who sells his take on the first CGI-created megazord. I've gone for the pricier PLA build with custom painting to show it off to you guys.

The dude that made this did such a good job.
The head's redesign from its Kakuranger/MMS3 counterpart is pretty interesting in that the eyes are replaced with a visor representing the cockpit. In general, despite the flawed CG the Ninja Megazord's film design looks really solid in my opinion.
9:15 In Kakuranger, the red ranger's name was Sasuke so I think the symbol is literally an S.
edit: Apologies, I forgot about the Saruder name and the fact blue and yellow had names that started with an s as well. Though that begs the question of why ancient warriors of Japan would have letters on their equipment to begin with
Also, if I’m not mistaken, the Japanese word for Ape or Monkey is Saru… So that could also be the reason

@@YarugumaSouyeah I think it does stand for as Saru or Saruder since in Japan the red mecha is Saruder, for all three versions, being the Beast General (Shogun Megazord), Beast General Fighter (Battle Borgs), and Stealth Beast God (Ninja Megazord), unless there is an in lore reason, I didn’t finish Kakuranger
@@Pikmin911 That makes more sense actually. Glancing the wiki it says the S may stand for Sun Wukong but they don't cite a source so take it with a grain of salt.

S is playword between Sasuke and Saru since there was a legendary ninja in Japan named Sarutobi Sasuke, his name can be interpretred as "Sasuke The Ape Jump".
I give the movie credit for doing 2 things:
They made the ape zord actually look like an ape.
They displayed the zord sizes accurately. In the series, before combining into the megazord, the ape would be shown to be the same size as the MOTW, which was inaccurate. In the movie, they show the ectomorphican getting larger when Ivan merges with it, so that resolves that issue.
When it came to the humanoid shaped zords in general, their size was always disproportionately inaccurate to the monster. This, sort of, begins to get resolved in Lightspeed Rescue
There was a reason as to why the ape zord didn’t look all that much like an ape, is because the mecha is based on Sun Wukong of Chinese mythology. Usually he’s depicted as a more humanoid-looking figure with a cheeky attitude, which is why you also see the ape zord wearing an armoured headdress.
This is further solidified when watching Kakuranger, as the red ranger will at times act like a monkey & scratch his behind At enemies to taunt them into emotional outbursts.
The elbow connection is giving me early Bionicle PTSD, so much limitations
The ankles and the eagle wings look to be using bionicle ball and socket joints.
If only they were reversed, it'll be a game changer!
This looks amazing...honestly it looks better than the movie model. The only thing is all the paint needs to besuper shiny. When I first saw the movie I thought it looked like glass. Also, the S stands for Saruder which means APE in japanese ( and is the name of the ape zord, God Saruder)
One thing I always thought was cool was the asymmetry with the arms. The Ape zord forming a standard hand and the Wolf zord remaining unchanged (very Voltron-esque) always seemed cool to me.
Gosh I'd love to get one of these, Always loved the movie version as a kid.
I do like the design of the movie ninja megazord. Really wish we had a toy release that wasnt just the tvversion. Really want to pick this one up!!
I wonder if the Ninja Movie Megazord could be redesigned so the zords look the same, the Megazord would look the same but the transformation is completely different.
As if to this day Happy Meal toys are the most accurate depiction of the Ninja Movie zords in toy form.

Yo. If you get a chance, get the freakin Minipla of the Ninja Megazord. Its amazing. Super articulated, AND fully transforms.
Another (much cooler solution) is magnets. Lots of Gunpla modelers incorporate magnets to attach he different parts easily.

The age of 3D printing continues to amaze.
As doofy as this megazord design is, it's still joy to behold and takes me right back to that cinema in 1995. which was like 10 years ago right? .... right?

Looking back at the movie design now... I'm kind of baffled that my younger self somehow never thought of the movie version and TV version as different things. I have no memory of even noticing that there were design differences between them back then, even though I had the DX Ninja Megazord toy, had the movie on VHS, *and* was watching the show religiously during the third season.
It's even weirder considering that just a year later, when Super Mario 64 came out, I immediately thought that some of the low polygon 3D models (especially Bowser) looked *really* off compared to how the characters usually looked.
Even with gundam legs this is still a dope version of the dopey movie Ninja Megazord. I also like the lego joints in the arms of the same model.

This looks cool but I think I'll wait for a combiner movie megazord. I know that's probably ambitious but I'm cool with having the legacy and the SMP until that comes around, official or non official made.

Well... I like the look. I just think it's a missed opportunity to actually make all 5 separate zords. - It kinda bothers me that the assembly is kind of clunky. Maybe in the future (I'm hoping), they will do this design, again, but with fully separate zords that can combine to into one.

While I am not a huge fan of this Ninja Megazord design from the film, great a fan out there made a custom.
I personally prefer the TV series version because it is more faithful. That's just me.
id buy it if it was about half the price, and only cause i really enjoy the look of the falconzord.

It’s funny you should mention the arms being symmetrical until the Ninjetti powers, since Jetman - the season before Zyuranger - had its main mecha have differently coloured arms, yellow & blue. If Saban kept with Jetman like planned, the first PR megazord would have had differently coloured arms.
I just got my first ever lightning collection item. I bight the in space blue and psycho silver rangers 2 pack. I love it so much! I want to Jason 2 pack next and the white drago ranger from dino thunder. Of course I want the green and white tiger rangers as well.
Gotta say its pretty cool and i nvr thought about it, would prefer the legs painted black

Despite the hiatus and hasbro might or will completely stop doing power rangers altogether. I would love to see a ZAP shogun megazord. Besides Super minipla, we havent had a legacy shogun megazord nor any deluxe upgraded treatment of it.

Hey man love the review! Do you know if by chance Legacy Ninja Mega Falconzord fits in 93 Titanus?
The original DX release fits in the DX Titanus and the re-released “Return of” Titanus from the 90’s. The Legacy Ninjazords are a bit smaller, so they would definitely fit in the DX Titanus.

I like it even though over the years I learned that this megazord wasn’t the main megazord in the sentai season what we called the shogun zords were and these were the more powerful zords and I can see why we reversed it cause by looking at each set of zords the animal one looks more like a main season megazord unlike the shogun zords

Man ya made me have to go back and look at some stuff. I'll be honest, I was 11 pushing 12, probably a little to old to be watching this series which I did eventually stop watching after Power Rangers in Space which I think was 1997/1998. But when the sequence of events came with the CGI zords and megazord battles, I was disappointed. Not because hey I saw Jurassic Park 2 years earlier and was blown away, but because the whole thing was riddled with animation errors and poor quality of design and style.
So when I see this 3D printed figure and look at the old footage of the film, I just see a lot of design choices that still shows me that you're not even getting an "accurate" portrayal from the film. I guess if anything, I'd say this 3D printed figure is more based on Tsuyoshi Nanoka variant than the actual movie itself. Which is fine.
But hey, ifyou're happy with it man, that's all that matters truthfully.
That looks to be 3D printed resin, not PLA. I can tell from the support marks on the underside of the models as well as the layer lines being very clean and hard to spot. PLA layer lines would be must more obvious and the models would overall be much rougher looking in terms of details and it would certainly have a hollow plasticky feel to it. Still pretty cool.
That's crazy the toy sword was just as weak as the movie sword lmao 💀

Lightning collection never did movie ranger costumes. The mighty morphin movie had the best version of the old suits

I can't wait for a future where fans can easilly make their own transforming figures. Shortly after that some people will open up transforming toy commissions and I will leap onto that. The fanzords I want is just the existing zords but with a universal combination system so I can mix and match the zords into unoficial megazords.
At least still better look than 2017 Megazord 😂
NGL, this is the first time I've ever seen the movie version of Ninja Falcon Megazord's proper looks. the zord battle in the movie was kinda dark so I couldn't see the zord clearly. and tbh it looks ugly af...🤣🤣🤣🤣

My "favorite" part of this design is the absurd way the bear's head transforms. Instead of just leaning forward like the original design, it instesd goes through the needless process of going in and out of the body, which is apparently hollow.
Honestly as a kid I don't get how I liked this.

To be honest the design looks ugly BUT as you mention it has a charm to it somehow. Like it's ugly but not inaccurate. If anything it makes the zord look better than how I remembered it from the movie. I like it.
I hope in the absence of Hasbro's PR toys a lot more people look into 3d printed stuff for their PR collection. There are a lot of expensive and rare toys that can easily be replaced by 3d printed replicas, like morphers etc. But also 3d prints can be useful to modify and repair existing toys that aren't made anymore, or in this case make a toy that was never made

I know how it feels to find a holy grail, and I'm so happy for you.
However.
I hate this thing, and I think 350 it is really really too much, the printing quality doesn't seem up to par to the latest technologies (i.e. a resin printer).
But as I said, I'm really happy for you, my holy grail was a KO of a Transformers, so I know all about weird grails XD
Exactly, in my opinion $350 is a steal, maybe $50 is more reasonable for the quality of this product.

I remember watching the movie as a kid and I have the same issue then as I do now…..the head is just so so ugly. You can’t even tell it’s a face.

It's an awful print and paint job. There's been no effort made to prep the print before applying the paint. I'd love to see a resin printed version with a pro paint job.
