I actually kinda like having Home Plate as a player home. I mean, the settlements are for everyone, but I think it's cool to have this place that is 100% mine. By keeping it isolated, from the settlement system it becomes truly "my house". I do wish I could send companions here though.
Ikr lol, I always have cait with me so when I'm at home plate she practily lives there
Yup! Home Plate is where I save the stuff I don't want to risk losing, like magazines, bobbleheads, and most of the other items in the Misc section of my inventory.
Heavens knows if you try building a player home in Sanctuary or anywhere else that has settlers, they will get into your stuff. 😒
Yes 💯 this what Oxhorn has done with it makes it absolutely perfect 🤩
If u go to the settlement with your companion with u they’ll still go in the home I believe which is pretty good. If you install the Mod where u get your spouse back it’s pretty cool
It'd be nice to send Shaun here too
I wish Bethesda let you move your max affinity companions to Home Plate
And Shaun so you can live like a family
I wonder if that's a mod now

As someone else mentioned previously, this is a survival player's home turf. I exclusively play on survival and this place is a god send for early to mid game (at least until you get vertibird access). It's a lot like McDonalds - terrible food but typically fast and convenient.
It's not stupid if you can't send settlers. It just makes it easier to place junk items knowing that nobody will knock them over. But, I guess that's your opinion.
If you're talking about unmodded Survival I think Hangman Alley is better - close to the city, can send provisioners to it and you can ensure your safety from most wandering monsters by just putting down guard stations to block the entrances (if you want to get out just jump over them and if you want to go in move them in the settlement mode).
Frosthaven nah, McDonald's food is great
But this can be great with mods I’m so proud of my home plate and I love it but only due to mods
Frosthaven wish we could connect supply lines to it I have lots of junk in that house
I wish that home plate had some auto decorate options like fallout 3. We could just talk to Myrna or Becky Fallon about house decoration for all those people that don't like building.
If you don’t like building, you won’t like Fallout 4.
@@Ludovicus1769 Hey, I get exactly where he’s coming from! I love building in Fallout 4, but I also think it would have been cool to have a bunch of preset interiors you could pay for specifically for Home Plate. I’ll happily build my janky ass build at Sanctuary, but Brandon has a brilliant point, and you’re an ass.
@@Jam-Beat But that’s just dumb, this is the wasteland after all, besides Fallout 4 was made for people with lots of creativity to spare and if you don’t have that the game wasn’t made for you.
@@Ludovicus1769 I like building in the game alot but in my first playthrough I didn't build anything other then the generators required for missions and yes my settlers were very unhappy lol
home plate is really useful on survival, atleast
it's a lot more central than say sanctuary or other settlements. if you need space to build, there's hangman's alley right around the corner, but diamond city and home plate are pretty much the center of the map
how is it exposed? you've got walls on all sides, with only 3 major entrances. some turrets and guards, you're covered. would i ever use it in regular game? no, but it's one of my go-to settlements for survival mode
If you leave the rear doors locked and chained, hangman's alley is basically impossible to get into. Stack turrets by the front door, you're safe as. Settlers can't walk out the back anyhow, so I just leave it locked. It's my main survival stopping point. Pretty crowded though...
kamenkewl Get outfield retreat instead,it's a mod but way cooler than home plate
Hangmans is the perfect base location. not as close to the market square as homeplate, but you can build everything there. my 4 story hangmans has 20 people in it comfortably, 5 traders, enough food and water to create an excess in my workshop (which is great as i have food planted to make adhesives too), and a robot workshop. to me, the only downside is that its awkward to build, to start off with at least.
People: killed this dude now I take his money
Ox: killed him now to take his clothes
I killed this dude and only got one lousy bottle cap.

Talk about ungrateful
@RandomShtuffs i sniped her using a gauss rifle from kellogs house and then i entered kellogs house and stated low for 4 days and crawled out back into the city
You can buy it well before that. Also it isn’t her house to cut the price from lol.

Paid 2000 caps for Home Plate. Found out how restricting the workshop was. Haven't been back since.
Maybe now I'll give it another chance!
I've decided I'll turn it into a museum of my exploits across the Commonwealth complete with unique/ quest weapons, notes & holotapes and defeated foes' clothing.
I know it's been 3 years but that is a really good idea, I'm gonna turn it into a museum now too
Just wish it had a better layout in general.
@@jackbennett5247 that's exactly what I use it for. But be careful because there's a glitch where items disappear from display cases.
I just love checking in with your personal settlement builds when Im running dry on inspiration. I think I've finally got a good mod setup (Im on xbox so its limited, but I did my best) and I've really gotten into decorating and building these last few weeks. That said, some of the bigger locations can really wear me out and I don't know where to begin until I take a moment to reference your work. Thanks for making this more fun, Oxhorn.
I know this is a bit old now, but in case you never noticed, the mod author for Home Plate Expanded updated the mod to allow full use of the workshop! You can now build walls! :D
If shit goes down in Diamond City, at least I have a place to hide like a bitch haha
Me. I’m the shit that goes down in DC. Just went on a weird spree on my “good character “ play and killed everyone in DC thinking
“Meh they will respon later”…… no. No they do not. Opps. Was sad to lose such a good market. And by then I put too much more time in to load an old save file 🥲
This video gives me inspiration to build up and out my own Home Plate player home and settlement.
You give me so much Inspiration for my own settlements
This is the first time I see the Diamond City player home, I haven't yet bought it myself but I'm going to soon. I love what you've done with the space - I especially like the mod that shows the items that you store into the shelves i.e., I don't think I've seen that before either.
If I should name one thing I might do differently it would be adding a computer to the smoking room upstairs. I think it would be perfect as a private smoking-office room since you have places to entertain guests downstairs. I would want to install the Autromaton companion and settler station as well because I often find myself wanting to take a look at where it may be a good idea to move people next as I begin to progress through more settlement building.
The curtain mod is a great idea, it could quickly feel too tight spaced with walls in this player home. There are in fact several settlements I can think of where this mod would be perfect (I think you've also used it elsewhere, right?).
Thanks for another great Fallout 4 video.
Yooo I love your videos. You're the only Fallout CZcamsr I watch anymore!!
Very cosy! The curtains look great.
Um, that's not a glass of Scotch; that's a cup of specimen. .
That came out beautifully. Gives me some ideas.
that trophy area is so great!! it's funny in the darkest way I love it!
How are you going to take a shower with a shelf in the way?

You are a legend man! Ive been binge watching your videos, great work!!
Waited a while for this build
i love this video man you are legendary with settlements and when it comes to decorating them
Drinking game: Every time he says delapitated have a drink.
It’s good for storing power armor, also can make for a cozy player home
I love Home Plate. It's definitely an underated house for building in.
Very nice house, you did an awesome job decorating it.
This video is over a year old; but I use lockers to make make-shift walls in homeplate. If you place them front to back to make the wall, it gets the job done without having to download a mod.
That's actually pretty lore-friendly too. You're in a sports stadium; scavenge the team lockers for your walls.
Those posters look really great, can’t believe you decorated the house with only one hand
I normally make a living room of the main place when u walk in, and then in that dark area I go crazy. I put a liquor sign and a bar counter on the side, with two shelves filled with Ware’s Brew, nuka cola, water, and alcohol. I put a desk down and decorate it with typewriters and desk fans and cigar boxes with Piper’s papers. I also make an armor and weapons workbench and a personal power armor workstation and repair shop. I’ll put a video of it on my channel. It looks amazing
Your setup is really cool. I would really like it if you found something for the synth Shaun to live at Home Plate. It's more of a father son type of situation. Thank you so much. Keep up the videos!
For my director/mercenary character I set it up as an area for restocking with guns, radios, tech, and bounty boards. Kind of like kellog's home.
FUCK Piper shot Geneva when I killed the Mayor. Now I have to spawn in the key.
Nice to know...
The Old School Ghoul I forgot to switch out of my missile launcher. I accidentally killed both Geneva and McDonnah then all the citizens were made hostile so I was forced to slaughter everyone. That’s why my diamond city is filled with dismembered bodies and gore. Ah. Fun times.
For me I've got home plate as my 'main' place with the immersive teleportation mod, it's a nice place for 'downtime' away from the busy work of settlements.
But for me it's a wild messy place my scavver can go to, Nuka town USA looks amazing for me, nicely themed and a great stop shop to relax, for me I'm only using settlements or settlement mods that don't have settlers as an option.
I subbed cause your content is amazing good explaining on how to you deserve a lot more subs
A wonderful modded home plate home u have. I don't run mods and love the one I've made but this makes me consider getting into mods.
Home Plate isn't meant to be a settlement. It's meant for players who want a place to live but dont want to deal with the settlement system at all. It's small and easy to decorate, and you don't need to defend it. Whining about the fact that you can't do settlement stuff with it is like whining that you can't shoot people with a melee weapon.
I think he's complaining more about the lack of certain settlement functions that would aid in the player being able to use it as a solo player home
they should make a rwby mod so i can have a scythe thats also a gun
dumbass, if u listened for literally a second longer he says exactly what u said😑
Selena Gamya but you can, if you count kitchen knives and other feasibly-usable melee-esque junk in the junk jet...
that is the truth
Technically you CAN get water (now) - there's the decoration Water Fountain from the Vault Tec add-on. It works, and lets you drink, similar to the Water Pump
i used the bookshelves to make makeshift walls/dividers. it worked for me but i must say i do like the use of the curtins.
Thanks for the honest look at Home Plate. I have heard so many complaints about this home that I previously haven't bothered with it. After seeing this video, I have to have it now. I have Goodneighbor Condo, Eternal Night, Modern Noir, Moon Palace and a number of other homes you've featured. I even tried a DC player home in the upper deck that has a workbench. But, I've had difficulty placing even basic lighting and crafting amenities there. So, now that I've seen a little of what can be done at Home Plate I will be making it into my DC layover crash pad and crafting area for whenever I'm in Diamond City. Since I already use Dheuster's Amazing Follower Tweaks I can even assign companions to Home Plate as AFT allows you to assign companions to any location. Thanks you Oxhorn for your continued commitment to superior content! :)
Sounds cool
Great build video.
I wish that oven had pipe extensions you could snap on it. I find it odd that when cooking on it, the smoke from the oven floats throughout the house rather than having a proper chimney to direct it outside. Anyways, great build, Oxhorn. Love your videos.
this was from last year and I haven't finished the video yet... But this player home can just be your storage room. like u can make shelves with boxes for weapons, outfits, and many more stuff.
The way you pronounce cement makes me giggle Ox.
What? It's see-ment!
***** You make it sound like semen! :P It's Ce- (as in cent) -ment as in meant! Just search "cement pronunciation" here on youtube.
Unrelated, I used to follow you, back in the good ol' WoW days, and I am loving your new content.
Thanks matey!
It allows you to build anything if you have the latest USO patch, as it adds a new category for everything
That upper patio was where I assassinated Malcolm from. Long range sniper shot, completely undetected.
i love home plate, its the safest place in the commonwealth, it cant get attacked, you dont have people snooping around and you have your own little space for yourself.
ive used it to store all my special things like magazines, bobbleheads etc
its basically my personal home, then vault 88 is my "workplace"
Oxhorn explaining all the mods he is using to give himself a vanilla experience.
That’s a very nice build
I mean i play in a roleplay way and use this home allll the time, regardless of the lack of things u can build here i love it and think mine looks awesome
WAIT WAIT WAIT! I remember watching you play WoW...Oh how I missed you Oxhorn. New Sub
Thanks matey!
I can say Home Plate is useful in survival. It's a bit cumbersome renting a room when you need a place to save/sleep, so that makes for a good spot to make a supply run, get some sleep, and get back to Sanctuary slightly less worried about dying after 30 minutes of play.
That's true, but 2,000 is a lot of cash for survival mode. Considering renting a room costs only 15 caps, it would take 133 days of renting a room with the Bobrov brothers before Home Plate pays for itself. And you still have the pesky issue of the crafting benches not sharing resources, without the use of mods.
Only ever costs me 10 to rent. In any case, I value my convenience and was making good money. Water farm at sanctuary, selling lots of looted weapons. I'm okay with it. But obviously just a matter of opinion. I don't strictly disagree with yours, I just wanted to represent a different one. :)
Thanks! I appreciate it :)
There's a mod called break the walls down, and it allows you to build outside of the workshop boundaries
I love the way you decorate your settlements. You're a great inspiration, Ox :3
like women posters??
FYI the Creation Club content for Slocum's Joe gives you some Structure options; walls, floors, roofs. :)
Hey Oxhorn! I remember you from your Wow days xD Thought you retired from CZcams, was pleasantly surprised :) New Sub for you m8
Thanks and welcome to the new channel!
Thank you!
@@KingsleyMoon13 like your profile picture man
If you use the cheat room mod you can use the cheat room workshop in the furniture misc area and place the cheat room workshop and it acts as the workshop you would find at a normal settlement in the game
Omg i just imagined seeing Oxhorn sittning at the top floor making a video hahaha! Would have been such a funny joke!
Oxhorn should totally make mod settlement builds.
I actually like the home plate, and sure the settlements are nice, I have place for my character at each one. However home plate is like my personal bat cave. As far as I'm concerned my character doesn't really have a home. Her home is where she lays her head down at night. The property she owns is a few guns, a negan style baseball bat, and backpack for all her necessities. Her family is a dog, and a few trusted companions. Home plate, and these other places are just places to rest up. Her home got blown away by a nuke two hundred years ago, and the family she had was lost years ago. Hell she's not even the same person she was back then. She used to go by her given name Jacqueline, but now it's Jackie, or Mad Jack. She got rid of her long, elegant hair, in exchange for something shorter, something a raider or super mutant can't grab and pull.
The Vault-Tec DLC gives you a working sink AND water fountain that can be placed in Home Plate WITHOUT the need for mods right off the bat, don't even need to start the quest to get it. Also gives you a usable Weight Bench and Pommel Horse that gives permanent buffs until something else is used...
Heh, right off the *bat.*
I find the settlement building clunky and tedious, especially on console. Home plate is the only base I ever use.
bathroom also has some vault tec dlc things like the sink and toilet
Honestly Brandon I wish Bethesda offered you a job because you have so many amazing ideas and you could help to improve glitches and bugs in the game, you'd be their number 1 employee of all time
That’s actually a decent idea
i love the home plate i usually only use the backdoor area because i like it to be cramped
i also felt a certain rage seeing maxson as a trophy... long live the brotherhood
Hey, this has nothing to do with your home plate build, but that brahmin shack you made on spectacle island was really inspiring.
Homeplate is for gameplay that steers away from settlement building but allows you to decorate your own home
Inside the bathroom you made at home plate the toilet paper is upside down just wanted you to know
www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11357/?
It’s so...unimpressive
Its only backwards if u have never been in a house with small children or cats.
This guy named final render has an amazing home plate
In the vanilla game, workshops only share resources if you have unlocked their workbench. Try it.
The Renovated Decorations mod that you used for rugs in the Hangman’s Alley Interior Apartments come with a bunch of great curtains btw, don’t know if you ever found those or if you made this settlement before you found that mod.
It safe storage! I saw a CZcams where you can use the weapons racks to make walls. It works
I use Home plate as as a store room/warehouse so I don't have to store lots of stuff in my larger settlements like Vault 88 and if I need to stay in diamond city for some reason I use Kellogg's house to temporarily live in
I almost always use that top area of HP as a bugout-bag area; like if Diamond City or Home Plate is getting invaded, I have a duffel full of ammo and small arms, a first aid kit, and maybe a suitcase or backback full of clothes and emergency rations
Imagine if you could take companions to home plate like a settlement. Use that mod where your spouse doesn’t die, take her to home plate then get the Shaun synth at the end of the game and take him to home plate, that’d be sick af
Dont forget codsworth and Mabey dogmeat
I have never bought home plate in any of my play throughs. I may do it eventually
Since Diamond City is referenced as the capitol of the Commonwealth, on my Minuteman character I made Homeplate kind of the seat of the new CPG. I left the Castle as like the Pentagon for the M.M. Militia, the main M.M. military settlement. Homeplate is my spot where the government resides for the Commonwealth.. as crappy as it is. I suppose it's better than nothing at all. Anyways, great vid. Cheers.
You should release some of your best builds as downloadable mods, pre built settlements something like that
Watching oxhorn videos makes me feel bad for my settlements
You can tell it was furnished by a man, and honestly? I'd live in here, no doubt! If I had fallout 4 I'd definitively furnish Home Plate in a similar way. It's very detailed and I'm really happy I found this channel, even if I don't own the game.
I bought home plate specifically to make it into my character ad MacCready''s love nest.
In the top nook, I made a shrine to our respective spouses (I accidentally sold Nate's ring early in the game; but, the 'Hi, Honey!' holotape works just as well as a sentimental momento).
The armor stands you made for your outfits is that something you can make in the game or those strictly mods. Not the power armor stands the ones that you have the outfits on
Those posters he has on his walls are VVVEEEERRRRYYYY interesting
Personally I love Homeplate, it located centrally so it's great for just random adventures, no annoying settlers, no attacks, lots of merchants outside, customisable.
Lol, you just do the same thing as me, Im use the home plate for all my relics, showcase armor, weapon, thropies, etc, well done
“So I just decorated it up with some *interesting* pin ups”
If you put chem / armor / weapon stations inside homeplate they are working and connected to the inside workshop.
i wish i could move people in there, i would have a max affinity companion and shaun in there
