Hey Paul, I have to say thanks for rekindling my love of Fallout 4! After putting in hundreds of hours i had grown quite bored. Now i'm erasing all my settlements and starting fresh with these amazing tips. Keep up the great work!
Loved the size up at the end. "Maybe 100 steel for the tiles." A true master of the craft
I guess in this respect I'm behind the rest of the class since I had no idea that's what Home Plate was referring to!
You definitely taught this student more today than most of the class!
Thank once again Paul!
Don't know if anyone already posted this but I'm just trying to do my part in bringing in new info about interior settlements like Home Plate to the light.
DO NOT leave Power Armors in Home Plate because Diamond City residents can randomly wander in, TAKE IT and later disappear forever from the game.
There's a recently discovered bug regarding interior settlements like Home Plate and Vault 88 where they affect each other, even when they are NOT the same place. I'm no expert about this but basically, it affects NPC pathfinding AI when you place objects at certain places (where it is IMPOSSIBLE for average FO4 players to figure out exactly where) during settlement building.
I'd really love to see what Paul can discover here regarding this glitch, or even if you've made any further discoveries regarding this!
Dancing on table tops will be easier than ever! Thanks, Paul!
😂
Never thought of reflooring that area awesome idea. Can't wait to see the finished pad.
That is a great idea. I have struggled a bunch with that cursed place. Thank You!
I wanted surround sound in homeplate so what i did was i glitched radios tuned to Diamond City Radio into the ceilings to the point you could barely see a sliver of a corner just in case i wanted to shut them off. It was pretty cool.
That _is_ pretty cool!
And here I was thinking that Home Plate in Diamond City was useless.
Looking forward to see the end result :)
Once again, great video. Really like your video's.
Glad I found his channel. This room is usually a pain in the ass for me for how limited it is without mods. This is a huge help 👍 I’m trying to no mod Fallout 4.
👌
STILL GOING STRONG! Love you bro.
Love the fact you can fast travel to and from indoors; would never have thought of it. Cheers buddy, great vid.
PS. Where did you all those friggin' posters? lol :-)
Fantastic ideas, Paul!
Never thought about using that table as flooring.
But something I did think of is with that flat wall mounted light. My thought is that it looks, at that height, a wall-mounted bed.
Maybe glitch a sleeping bag onto it or something.
I also want to say that the WiFi power glitch you and the others discovered and improve upon has been such a massive boon to my settlement building!
I love it. It makes the settlements so much better. It even makes Sanctuary look as though you just empowered the existing street lights (as the pre-war ones do not have visible wiring).
And my Vault 88 build is so much better with the WiFi glitch, too.
So, again, THANK YOU SO MUCH (not yelling. it's just a visible huge hug. ^_^ ).
Thanks Nikita. Pretty cool idea using the flat wall mounted light as a sleeping bag platform too. I like it!
As always amazing and creative.
The idea of having home plate as a sort of museum is a great idea. I love it! I never think of homeplate when I fast travel because I usually use the trading routes view to fast travel to around the map. My Red Rocket has gotten too big anyway with the garage being my museum for now. I really like your other videos too, especially on the fzctory stuff, never dabbled in it.
Thats exactly what i did years ago and am just now discovering others have done it to. I collected so many items my game would crash sometimes so i had to limit what i carried at times.
"It's free real estate"
literally
It's not free tho
Best fallout 4 intro brother BuckNasty88md approves.
You are a very patient man..lol you make it look so simple but on a console, it's finicky enough to drive a man insane! lol
The flooring idea is great! I wish I would have reviewed this a few days ago haha, too late now but still cool to learn. :)
Thanks Corinne. Did an update on the flooring too: czcams.com/video/mNiukjEjqOA/video.html
You Sir, Are Insane. In A Good Way.
Such a great series. Can't wait to see what you come up with for homeplate
How does being on the wall of fame feel?
Feels great!
Watched this the day after you posted bro. Had to come back for my final playthrough.
I just started building. And i am having a lot of trouble laying down carpets.
Why do they not auto click onto the concret foundation squares ? Or at least auto click onto each other ?
I cant find any videos where other people lay down carpets or wooden floors. Im also using a uso mod so i have access to other floor tiles like the wooden floor clean and vault carpet flooring tiles.
Help kind regards K
I have been playing around with building out different floor coverings (Tabletops, cabinets, and mats) and I cannot get a consistent, smooth, wall to wall finish. I cannot wait to see how you do it. Please be detailed in your walkthrough!
It's coming along nicely. I'm just working on the rest of the decor before I do a showcase. =)
Thanks a lot really for the WiFi wire glitch
It helps a lot
👍
Keep up the good work, finally my home plate won't look like a junkyard
Long-time viewer, first-time commentator, I love the channel, you've done a ton of great work!
Except all those times you made me want to go back to a settlement to tear it all down and start over. All while Preston stands behind me ringing a bell and shouting "Shame! Shame! Shame!" So..., thanks?
Regarding Home Plate, Blubox84 mentioned this earlier in the comments, but have you tried using the weapon racks as walling material? The plain peg-board racks, the ones without the metal ring, will snap to each other even if nothing is behind them, they kinda hang from each other. So you can attach one to the ceiling walls(where your posters are), and then snap all the way to the floor. The racks will snap, and/or sink into the floor without problem, and can be moved to taste. I also used them to patch up walls in the Sanctuary houses to great effect.
"Long-time viewer, first-time commentator, I love the channel..." Haha, love that intro! Anyway, I'm definitely using the display racks in creative ways. It's taking a while to finish everything up but it'll be pretty epic when I show it off. Stay tuned. ;)
You and oxhorn are the king's of fallout
Watching these always makes me wanna go back into my save and do cool stuff with my settlements. You're so creative man, homeplate was one of the places I abandoned because of how cramped it was but with the wifi glitch and pillar glitch I feel like it's gonna be my favourite place to work on :D
Right on 👌
Almost 2022 and i still love fallout 4
Man I love this channel, back to Diamond City I go
This man is a modern day Prometheus. Giving us the knowledge of Godd Howard
This should totally become the new classroom for the start of your vids
Excellent! I can't wait to get off work and rework my house with the wifi glitch. Good job man!
I'm making this place Valentine's Detective agency. A much bigger upgrade. The other half will be a lounge where he and Ellie can think.
Love your videos man! Will be a pateron as soon as I can afford it haha! Fallout 4 is such a rocking game and this channel provides a much needed gap in information on settlement building! Loyal fan :)
Best game ever, Stull watching your videos
home plate is great place to store all your legendary items and if you put a metal box in there store all your fusion cores in the metal box it's safe storage.
Exactly. No settlers to steal stuff! ;)
yep i keep everything there , i also empty the workshops in other settlements and drop it all at homeplate , workshops have a limit and settlers stop filling them when reached
I tried this for a laugh, and ended up having problems with sinking the tables down after a while. But please do show us how it turned out for you! I am really excited to see if it works out for you! 😊😊
Knallbart you still play fallout 4?
Don EJ Sabalboro i do. I still haven’t finished it, so no spoilers, please 😊 having a heap of fun with it. Been procrastinating doing the story a whole heap with building the settlements 😂😛 you have completed it then?
I’m feeling like making home plate be a whole storage building and it’s not decorated but still feels real
Im new to your vids but man thank you for al the tutorial vids this helps me hell of a lot because sometimes im to impatient or its way to complicated doing it by yourself. So thanks man!
👊
Thanks for explaining how to get it in the first place and now when I play I will definitely get it!! How do you get refrigerators? They are missing from my build menu.
I don't have fridges either. They may be available from a mod or from creation club.
Skooled Zone Thanks for letting me know, I really thought something was wrong with my game 😉
Skooled Zone where to get cabinets??
When I bought home plate I never thought of keeping the junk that's already in it since you can't scrap the tiny rubbles you see on the floor.
Been waiting for the next video ! :)
That's amazing! I can't find an update for this video.
Here's one update: czcams.com/video/mNiukjEjqOA/video.html
More to come. Stay tuned!
@@SkooledZone
Oh I meant to comment on that video. Okay so you haven't finished a video yet. Sweet. That'll be exciting to see. It's pretty sweet how you used to tops of the tables for the flooring!
Loving this, Paul!! Home Plate has always seemed impossible to me, but you've changed my opinion. Will definitely be working on it now. Btw, love all the posters you put up! Thanks for the tips video! 👍
J. Barnard Slocum's Joe creation club let's you place walls in Home Plate too....
IceStella Thank you!! ☺
@Skooled Zone hey man
How or where did you get that glass bottle light you use in home plate? Any videos on that? Would live some info!!
You might talking about the glow lanterns from the Far Harbor dlc.
@@SkooledZone I am guessing they unlock when you complete the dlc? Looks like it
@@kirbpernicus9689 I think you may just have to meet with the Children of Atom or something, but yes not right at the start.
@@SkooledZone love your videos brother, always full of information, all relevant. No showing off just to the point while having fun which is very enjoyable for us.
I've watched your videos for a few years now when I get the fallout bug. Haven't completed it yet. But I love building and managing.
Thanks again for replying!
My favorite fallout 4 videos!!
The only thing about the home plate is the fact that you can't send a supply line there. That's real annoying when your someone like me and have all of your loot spread out across the 30 or so settlements, so it makes it real hard to bring it all with you!
yeah, I don't care for the 1000 bugs. There are 2 things I like Bethesda to fix (although there are mods for it, but come on, it's a publishers job..)
1. supply line to Diamond city
2. scrap all junk at once (only scraped material is distributed among all workshops, not whole junk items)
Did you ever do the home plate video? I can't seem to find it.
I did do an update video: czcams.com/video/mNiukjEjqOA/video.html ...but I haven't finished the whole thing yet. Stay tuned! :)
Thanks for the tips, keep 'em coming.
You’re awesome dude!!!
So cool! Love the floor idea! I had given up on Home Plate as a waste of caps. Excited about it now! Thanks!
Yes!! Super excited for this!
I will build it as the "Diamond safehouse" on my rr character. What could I do to make it feel more like it?
Edit: how did he build the cooking workbench in hp?
I usually turn part of Home Plate into a Nuka Cola museum. Then I invite Piper over to share a cola. The various glitches are handy to line up vending machines with the wall, since they have a crazy large bounding box by default. I also installed a weight bench on the lower level, which Piper likes to use while I figure out where the next poster or flag or shelf is going to be placed. While part of the first floor is the museum I used the larger, more run down space as a workshop of sorts, with various crafting tables and labeled boxes filled with extra items or gear. By keeping it all in one central location, free of Settlers, it's easy to keep track of stuff.
When are you going to publish your finalized Home Plate? Pretty eager to see how it came out...
^This^
Doesn't replacing the default bed remove the well rested bonus from that house?
That may be true. Too late now. But I think if you have an affinity companion, you still get the _Lover's Embrace_ bonus (which is more)!
Did you ever finish your home plate? I've had a look through your site but can't see many tours :)
Still working on it. :) Here's my last update video: czcams.com/video/mNiukjEjqOA/video.html
Awesome idea. Can only imagine how much time and effort it's gonna take to get that floor looking good but I can't wait to see it.
Only 3 steels for a wonderful wooden tiles floor?
You could say it's...
A steal ?
...
I wanna die.
😅
@@SkooledZone I don't know if I should feel happy for being noticed or really ashamed xD
can't wait to see your homeplate bachelor pad. Definitely like the idea of using the tables as floor tiles
good video
you haven't mad a video in forever your my favorite CZcams please keep on doing this making videos everyday
Aww, thanks! ;) But it's only been a few days. I know it seems like a while tho.
Is it possible to rug glitch power armor displays in Home plate? I'm trying to get it to work and am failing repeatedly. Granted, I'm definitely a novice with this glitch, so it's possible I'm doing something wrong.
I set down three of the small mats in a row, and when I click on the first mat, I'm able to move all three together without having to hold down X to get them all to highlight. However, when I add the power armor display on top of the third mat, it won't move with the mats. And when I highlight all 4 objects by holding down x, I'm just not able to get the glitch to work. However, when I removed the PA display and just tried glitching the third mat into the wall to see if it worked, it did. This makes me think it's an issue with the PA display.
It should work. But you don't hold down the button to use the rug glitch. That's called group selecting. Here's a video I made on the rug glitch: czcams.com/video/tKLNPicHmBU/video.html
Can you Connect home plate to the shared settlement junk inventory?
Unfortunately not Home Plate. But that's good in a way because it means all your stuff is safe from settlers taking them.
Most excellent! :-D
😀
Thanks Paul, great tips as always and I'm looking forward to seeing how your Home Plate turns out. I've been jonesing for some more F4 videos 😨! Any thoughts on Boston Airport? I think that settlement is even less practical than Home Plate ...
Good vid brilliant tips
👍
Even with mods it's not that easy to decorate in home-plate and this video helps tenfold...
Got all DLC,s but i think i dont have those kitchen furniture, and that vault painted Crate over there, are those from a mod? (I know the title sais no mods)
They might be from the Vault-Tec DLCs. You need to complete all the mini-quests to be able to build vault stuff above ground. Here's a walkthru if you need it: goo.gl/s7GHKc
There is a poster, seen in various locations across the Commonwealth, that does not appear to be available to use in build mode. The 'Giddyup Buttercup' advert pricing it at $16,000. I only found this out after building my 'Arlen Glass 'Giddyup Buttercup' Museum' at The Slog, then going looking for it for some extra decoration. Disappointed enough in seeing it wasn't there to send me looking for a mod that had it.
To the flooring of Home Plate, instead of using a table top, could you not do the same thing with the basic wooden floor? It would fit more with what is already there.
.
Many normal items are missing from the build menu when you go into Homeplate.
Another amazing video my man!!! Keep up the good work❤️❤️. I’ve been waiting for a video like this since pretty much the release of Fallout 4
The settlers stealing all your best gear is why I don't bother with settlement's
You can still build settlements and just not leave your best gear there. Home Plate is safe.
Cannot wait to see the final floor!
What dlc's do you have installed?
All the ones that came with the _Game of the Year_ edition. =)
Awesome job on the flooring. Home Plate is a bear to decorate without mods or console commands. If you wanted to make a "conduit look" so it can look electrically connected, you can use the tall and short curved vertical conduits. Attach the longer one to the shorter one, then drag the top of the short to the top of the long one, then drag the bottom of the long to the bottom of the short. You can "climb" them up to the height you want. Or, you can also use the stairs to elevate your conduits to the height you want as well and snap pipes to it until you get to the wall you want. With group select, you can turn the whole setup to line up with the walls and then deconstruct what's next to the stairs.
You do know that Home plate extends down to a LARGER area that has among other things, a bunker that is only partial, and you can bring settlers into the place.
Say whaa?
Wow didn't realize these videos were still rolling out - nice!
I’m gonna make a museum dedicated to the lone survivor, they should know.
There are actually some ways you can get more stuff for Home Plate if you have the creation club content for Schlocums Joe which gives you access to brick walls doorways and the windows you can use them in the Home Plate interior and last I checked the Noir Penthouse items also show there but that's mainly furniture. I also believe the Nucola Cafe items will work there as well. That is if you want some tile floors instead.
I can't figure out how to use the wifi glitch in home plate since I can't use generators or regular switches
You can use it with the master conduit. Then you can use it with other conduits too.
Depending on your plans if you have and don't mind using them the brick walls of cc slocum's joe can be built there.
Troy Blecha I was just coming in here to say the same thing. Don't know if CC stuff is considered "mods" for the purposes of this series or not, though.
Do you think it's possible to use the fluorescent light on the wall ( you used it as a shelve) as steps if we place them accordingly. And and use the pillar glitch to build a "floating floor " (using tables or other suitable material. ? I want to build a second floor in the garage portion of homeplate and your vid and the fluo shelves gave me the idea.
You read my mind Michel. I was actually working on that after I filmed this video. There's just enough headroom in that upper area and you can use the large flat fluorescent lights as floors that I put a pop-up note about.
Skooled Zone great! I'll try it or (since i can't play that much) will see it in a future lesson from you.
I really appreciate how you share all this and the way you present it. Very pedagogical and entertaining.
You are giving my game many new layers of fun.
Again, many thanks!
You can stop settlers from stealing your guns by moving ammo to a place they cant access so make a little room you can enter by removing a wall in Workshop mode and place your ammo in a box in that room
And for power armour just remove the core
"Inaccesible rooms" do not always work (but often can reduce the issue). Settlers can spawn in weird places when a cell is loaded and settlers can sometimes access things through walls. Removing cores from power armor mostly works but ONLY if you made sure no settler either has a core in their personal inventory or won't have any access to them. Settlers can also loot after attacks and this includes ammo and cores. So unless you check every settler often (mostly after attacks that you have been present with) it is possible a settler gains some ammo and/or cores and when they do they WILL grab any weapon that they have some access to. Then you have the scavenger station that can find ammo and cores which it will store. It will mostly find junk though so this is again rare, but if they do and store ammo/cores in the workbench settlers can and often will grab it if they have access to something that's able to use it. Unless you use some mods things are never 100% safe. Home plate is a location that doesn't have these issues but also in Sanctuary you have the root cellar behind a house that is a separate cell where it's 100% safe to store items you will not want to lose. The cellar however is not a buildable location but you can trust the containers in there to never despawn your valuable loot. Using another settlement that's free of settlers technically isn't safe since it can be attacked and attackers can also loot. Homeplate cannot be attacked and so this is the safest buildable place for you to store and showcase things you like.
Build Strongboxes and put all important stuff in there instead of the workshop. I have had little to no problems with stuff missing, and if you actually have defenses in your settlement, because only a moron would store stuff in an undefended one, then your fine. Also, why do you need to store ammo? You can carry all of it without any weight effecting you.
Keep Up The Great Content Such A Under Rated CZcamsr Also Thanks For The Tips Like This It Really Helps Me A lot When It Comes To Workshops
Thanks so much Joshua!
I've not built there cuz you can't send a Supply Line to Home Plate.
How do I get a homeplate key even when the mayors dead and I can't find geneva litterly
There might be a key in the mayor's safe. But otherwise, you'll need to find Geneva and convince her to sell it to you. Or reload an earlier save. There's really no other way unfortunately.
Way to go varsity team! Look at that wall.
Watching this in 2024, I forgot just how clunky and wobbly consoles are
You can pillar glitch a small mattress on the wall hanging light
Better use Sleeping Bag. It has thinner frame.
Tristan Suelke , thats a cool idea, Im gonna try it.
Tristan Suelke thanks
I relly wish i could use contraptions to make "giddyupp buttercup". Then i could buy springs, steel, screws and gears and sell the results next door.
Too bad you can't construct one, but I show you how to find a special extra small and extra large one in this video :) czcams.com/video/2mOM6U3n8SM/video.html
That is so awesome and so creative.
Love your ideas.
You should keep the posters. They look great.
i think you are going to run into group selecting issues with the flooring. Good luck and may the aggravation warning help!
I thought about that and I think I just cover any gaps with sofas and rugs.
Oh man I've always wanted to get a decent floor in that part of homeplate, this is awesome
*Build Limit*
There's a fix for that. A mod that disables the *Build Limit*
I have it, and I love it.
Can you try and do a gun shop with integrated arsenal and shooting range? I’ve always wanted to try it but never been able to.
@SkooledZone did my idea of pitching a grenade through a laser trip wire work?
Plus minor details the home plate looks like a police station xd
Great vid! I was so uninspired by Home Plate as it seemed so limited as to what you could do, but this has opened up a whole bunch of ideas! Can't wait to see what you've done when it's complete!
