I bought this tool about 6 months ago and finally I'm getting around to using it. This video helped out a lot. TY.
Nice demo. What blows my mind is how many people are so opposed to working with pocket holes at all. One guy on a channel recently he said he is not even willing to try pocket holes because he just doesn't like the idea of using them. That to me is just ridiculous. Pocket holes are not to be used in every instance, but when they are applicable, they provide an incredibly strong joint. I love my Kreg K4, my Massca and my Armor. I guess I am kind of a tool nut.
It's always good to know about the other options available and you always explain clearly.
That's a good review, Jon! And your demo of the jig was easy to understand. Now I am going to take my Armor jig into the shop and try it on some plywood. (Scrap pieces until I get the hang of it.) Peace and God bless you, Jon!
Thanks Jon! I just bought one of these myself and love it. I returned a Massca and a Kreg. Best feature is the self adjusting lever.
I planned to buy massca M2, do you think this Armor jig is better? The self adjusting lever is fabulous !
Seems like a good system. I will be getting a Castle system when I can because of the shallower screw angle
Nice! Setting the stop on the drill bit looked to be easy-peasy. Good looking jig.
Hi Jon, I just received my new Armor auto jig. Thank you for your video. Now I can attach dust collection to my toe screws connections. As an aside, the dust collection, pressure Handel and drill guides are all on the same side. So the worker can work on large panels without having to reach around the workpiece. Good advise! Thanks!
I must say that the Armor brand does have some perks. Main one to me is the guide stop for the thickness of the material, that is a quicker set up than Kreg's. But Kreg does make a decent set up also. It all depends on the users needs, more than being fancy.
Thank you Mr. Jon
Take care
I agree, Tim. I have the K5, which I like. But locating the stop collar isn't as straight forward as this. Also, the K5 dust shroud pops right off with the slightest bump. I always have to clamp my vacuum hose the benchtop to keep it attached, which is annoying. Wonder how secure Armor's clear dust shroud is by comparison.
Pretty nice looking jig indeed, Jon! Great review! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks for the tutorial, Jon. I got an Armor Tool version a couple of years ago. Works for me!
Another great one, Jon! Congrats & hope it's a solid partnership for you with Armor. Their stuff looks top notch.
I was lucky enough to grab a Porter Cable Quick Jig before they became hard to get. I got it for $120 at Menards. Awesome jig and I have to say better than this model same exact concept.
looks like a great product! thanks for sharing 👍
It seems well thought out. Thanks
Just found you! I love this channel!
Very helpful. 👍🇺🇸
Thanks Michael!
Jon - Great work. Thumbs Up. For us color blind people, if you can send any feedback to the Armor people about the screw length guide, that would help. The color guide is of little help for us. Perhaps there's a way they could update it.
Thanks Chuck, good point 👍
Wonderful
Very nice jig! I don't use pocket holes often but have a Kreg jig I got many years ago that I really enjoy. I'm not sure if this one was available then but if so I wasn't aware of it or would have got it. Thanks for the review!
Use the Kreg Jig in almost all of my work every day...
I need to get the Armor tool clamp to put on my second "Blue jig" Funny how they not only make their own but make a better upgrade for the competitors jig!
Nice video but I will stick with my Kreg Jig as I have been with Kreg for the past 30 years and still have my first one that they made all out of aircraft grade aluminum and with steel inserts. It is paid for and works just fine... The old one as well as the new one. Nice to see that many other companies have copied the Kreg Jig now.
Where can I find the jig it’s sold out everywhere?
Nice jig
Hello Mr Peters! I am always pending your advice and work.
I liked the Armor pocket hole jig.. can you please tell us where we can buy it and how much ?
Thank you very much.
I've always liked my Kreg jig but if I was looking to buy a new one I'd probably go with the armor jig.
I mean I guess it works decently well, but your 30yo pneumatic version seems much more practical.
hi Jon, i have the same jig but when i drilled the pocket hole, it is not as deep therefor the screw is not totally hidden. I have the Kreg R3 and the hole is very deep. I've contacted Armor tools and they sent me a replacement, same deal. Since you have the jog, how deep is your pocket hole?
Are you still planning on getting a Makita track saw? Are you considering holding out for the Milwaukee? I don’t have any Makita tools at this time, but the 40v Makita looks good. I am a little hesitant to get the Milwaukee track saw when it’s available, even though I’ve got a lot of Milwaukee tools and batteries. I prefer to wait for Gen 2 and make sure they’ve worked out the kinks. Any thoughts?
It's a smart pocket hole jig, which is better than Kreg jigs.
So ... is it better than the Kreg? Which one would you buy?
what thread would you use for for baltic birch
Fine thread
You prefer this to Kreg Jigs? I have the Kreg K5… is it just a difference in jig or is their a difference in the outcome?
They both work about the same. The ratchet on the K5 is starting to slip so I’ll probably use the Atmortool from now on
Idk but that many moving parts in a dusty environment maybe isn't the best idea. The tool looks very well made tho. Please update us in few months to see how it's going.
Nice but you didn’t demonstrate why you made extentsion arms.
Thanks, for support
@@JonPetersArtHome You’re welcome for my support.
Anyway, if anybody out there is as dense as I am and needs it spelled out, pocket screws are a great way to make cabinets, and you’ll want the extension arms to keep the panels from wobbling around.
I’ll stick with my Kreg
Me too...
What!? No more air-operated Kreg pocket holer?
I’ll use both 👍
Idk the kreg, which I have, is much much easier to use. And a million times easier to set up. But it’s a sponsored video so it’s understandable to talk good about it.
It’s not a sponsored video, I’m not getting paid a dime… I really don’t care if you buy it or not. I think it’s got some good qualities if you have a Kreg then you probably don’t need it.
I had this jig and it was a complete piece of crap! The drill jammed up in the sleeve and broke in half. Armor has one of the worse customer service anywhere! Finally got a replacement 6 months later and after maybe 10 uses, drill jammed again and snapped!
Switched to Kreg and it’s worked perfectly for past 2 years!
So far so good on my end, the ratchet on my K5 broke so I’ll be using this one for now
It replaced mine.
Whats the other system you use seems way better than this one
That the old Kreg
Over torqued
Genuinely how are we supposed to believe anything opinion based stated in this video when it’s a more likely scenario that you are simply not speaking Ill of the unit based the fact that they payed you to review it ( the product along with any of the other products they sent along with it ) as that Is a form of payment in my book cuz they give it to you for free, surely along with plenty of other goodies, say possibly the fancy table ? The one referred to as “fairly new to the shop but quickly becoming an integral part of my workflow” or something to that effect… but of course them sending you a thousand dollars in gear is going to shift your perspective undeniably firstly because there was no investment or cost involved so ya of course for free it’s amazing but pay the 150$ then review it & I bet you would see things a bit diff…I really have enjoyed many videos of yours but I just wanted to share my concerns because these are imo “ fake reviews” & are in fact more similar to a subcontracted mini infomercial than they are a real review…really a form of sponsored promotional vids parading around as reviews and they flood CZcams always presenting themselves as authentic, customer based reviews of actual satisfied purchasing parties whom were satisfied with the product, that’s a review, not someone who’s interested in the field or hobby whom makes videos on yt whom would be incentivized by the free product itself…. videos like this have to come with a disclaimer in other countries explaining that it’s a promotional video and not a genuine customer review….unfortunately stateside it’s a little harder to find out if a content creator is on the payroll or not which he isn’t hiding so i appreciate the honesty but would appreciate a real review even more
Holy cow, there’s no way I’m going to read this entire comment… But if you watch my latest video, you’ll see me using this jig throughout. Hope that helps.
@@JonPetersArtHome I didn’t say you didn’t use it but if I wanted a product demo, I could go to their website I wanted a real review & I believe I’m not alone thinking there is a conflict of interest when a companies product that you’re reviewing is sending you not just that product but others for an opinion😂as that is seen as a form of payment and or s be clear that I’m not the only one who feels this way cuz other countries have started mandating that content creators disclose this information in their videos and also classifying these videos as the advertisements they are
@@JonPetersArtHome I know you see this as me hating on you just as I would, but I promise I’m not. I think you metaphorically sold your soul as little as you possibly could and still got the bag💰as well as I think this is a good unit, I own it, but it’s a fine line you’re walking is all. And ik that’s easy for me to say when I’m not getting the offers
