Love the video John and I’ve learned a lot from all your binge-watched videos!!! One suggestion is be sure to double check the spelling of any words you put on screen, example off the top of my head include “dinning” instead of “dining” and “longe” instead of “lounge”. Keep the videos coming!
Hi John, thanks for this informative video. Could you please make a climb the AMEX credit card ladder video?
This is THE video we all need. Great one! Hoping to see more of these for the other card issuers as well.
Happy to help!! Thanks for the comment!
@7:10 Thanks! I was wondering where my points were. Great vid. I have flex and unlimited... and built.
great info!

Just got a Amazon chase prime card after getting my first ever card chase unlimited cared ( think I skipped one) idk after 6 months and got my credit score from 650 from poor student loan management to 737 after 6 months and paying all my debt off
There are quite a few typos. I don't know if you've noticed, but you also seem less energetic. Is the winter weather getting to you? I'm starting my Chase journey with that Freedom Unlimited matched cashback
Freedom is the best for me. I don’t like traveling and pre-approved for both sapphires but choose to keep freedom unlimited cause I don’t want annual fee cards or the travel points.
The JPM Reserve is still a bit different than CSR beyond what's mentioned here. For example, it's invisible on your credit report. The existence of it, including your spending, credit line, etc., just doesn't show up. This is useful in some instances.
Love the videos man! If you could do something like this for capital one or Amex it would really help me out.
I feel chase portal up charges a ton. I remember looking it was 700$ round trip but when I went to Southwest to get the tickets they where only 250$
Hi John this is an amazing video I would like to point out something that I think you should add is that credit scores are not the only thing that matter companies will also look at the amount of hard inquiries which fall off after 2 years and also credit card utilization percentage as well.
Thanks for your video! How would you suggest getting the signup points for the CSR? I got the CSP a little over a year ago and was hoping to upgrade but read that I needed to wait 48 months to receive the bonus before switching?
you can see about switching and transferring your points but you would have to wait 48m for any signup bonus
I just find the chase travel portal is way more expensive than booking on outside sites. I pretty much just go for cash back. I do travel a ton for work but im normally in very rural areas.
I totally agree !
Hey John. I recently applied for and got approved for the Sapphire Preferred and the Freedom Flex. I applied for the Freedom Unlimited but got denied. Do I just need to wait 30 days and reapply?
Hey John, how many cards would you recommend applying to avoid negatively affecting credit? I just got the CFU in November and wanted to get the BILT card and the Chase Amazon Card but not sure if getting both of those cards at the same time is smart .
you have a two week span where 4 hard inquiries will equal 1
@@xc22abp89I always thought that was just in relation to car purchases?
When’s a good time to request a credit limit increase on a Chase card?
I’m pre approved for the freedom flex, sapphire preferred, and freedom unlimited because I bank with chase and have my savings account with them. Should I pick one from those three or gradually apply for all of them? I only have one other credit card that I’ve had for about a year and a half, and make less than $15,000 a year as a full time student.
I was in a similar situation. I was pre-approved and just applied for FLEX but Unlimited is an equally great option. Just be careful to not over spend 😂😂
I just got the CSR at 8-24
How fast can you rack up points for 'free' hotels/flights? I don't want to feel like I NEED to spend more than I have just to get the points.
What do you think of the Amex Hilton honors card compared to mid tier cards like the preferred? The points seem really good for some key categories and it has a low annual fee, so I’m curious where you would rank it.
Hey John, thank you for the great video! If I just got the Sapphire Preferred in December, can I qualify for a Chase Freedom sign up bonus in March? Or do i have to wait 24 months?
Congrats on the new card!! You can even qualify for the Freedom bonus today as long as you are under 5/24!
What if I get the freedom card first how long do I have wait to get the bonus for the preferred card?
your great
Should I apply for a Chase personal card first or a Chase business card?
I used your affiliate link because I have learned a lot from your channel and it was only double points until the end of the year. So I only got double points for 3 months instead of 12.
That's strange, if you clicked the link I have it should be double points for 12 months. I just clicked into it and verified
Just a quick correction: The Freedom Unlimited has 3x on Drugstore purchases, not Groceries (the public offer includes 5x in Groceries and Gas for one year, but no cash back match).
Sometimes Chase offers double cash back on certain cards like the freedom lineup for a limited time frame
Good catch on that!! Thank you!!
I only saw a chase flex is it the same as rise?
@@justicelirathe rise and flex are different. the chase freedom rise is more tailored to people who have little credit history and are just starting out. It will offer 1.5x cash back on all purchases. The chase freedom flex is a card with a recommended credit score of around 670+ that offers 5x cash back on rotating categories. If you’ve had a credit card before you might find yourself having more use out of the freedom Flex (they are both no annual fee) hope this helped!
I'm in a weird spot right now. Currently 3/24 and it's been five years since I got the CSP. I really want to downgrade and get it again, but I have a feeling that it'll get an elevated SUB soon.
I'm just itching for a new card and I want the Hilton Aspire soon. I also want the Marriott Boundless for the Ritz in a year though, so I can't get the Aspire before the CSP and Boundless unless I'm willing to put one of the Chase cards on a two-year hold.
It’s been getting the elevated sign up bonus around April for the past two years
@JordanShilkoff The problem I have is that I have a Waldorf stay coming up in April, so for me to avoid 5/24 but still get the Aspire and the Boundless, idk what to do. It's only been a month since I got my last Chase card, so I think early February is the absolute earliest I could apply for the Boundless and make it 4/24. Then I could apply for the Preferred and the Aspire on the same day I guess. Maybe that's the play. I'd like to use that Aspire credit.
What's the difference between Marriot bonvoy to Ritz Carlton why do u want the step up? Can u expand on this?
How often do you apply for a credit card within a year ?
This year i got approved in order for CFF, CFU, Amazon Prime CC, WOH, Citi American Airlines CC,and CSR
how did you do it? I got a CFU now and I wonder what the timeline for the next cards are. Thank you!
@jackbanxian If you have good credit and has been more then 3 months then you should be good i would try and get the CFF and CSP or CSR. And leave at least a month in-between
@@turtle1125 Do I have to get the CFF? I don't really think it's a better card than the CFU and what's the point of having literally the exact same card haha (I probably don't know enough) Thank you!
If someone else in my family has an Amazon Prime account can I get my card under theirs or do I have to have my own account?
Is it good to have 2 or more credit cards from same bank? If not good, what should I do?
I have the og freedom and og slate plus the amazon prime chase card and really wanna upgrade the og slate card what card would be the best to upgrade the og slate to?
Just got approved for the Prime visa with a 2k limit, which surprised me for sure.
Can you transfer Chase Amazon Prime card points to a Chase Sapphire card?
If you apply for, say the tier2 card and Chase sees you differently, will they offer you a lesser or better card depending on how they see you?? Or would they simply approve or dent your application??
Please do a two player mode strategy video.
It currently shows 1.5% additional on Freedom Unlimited through your link. However it does not say whether i still get the $200 sign up bonus - is it either the 1.5% additional or $200 sign up.. or do i get both from your link?
How long should I wait in between Chase Cards? I got the Freedom Unlimited this month and would like to do the Preferred next, unless you think I should do the Flex next
I think he said 2 max in 30 days. But you can always talk to a Chase banker. They help. If you're pre-approved you're mostly likely good to go.
what level would you say chase freedom flex is?
how can I see if I'm pre-approved for chase freedom unlimited? I have 701 FICO w 7 months of credit history. Should I just apply since I need 670..?
Hi John! I was wondering when I can reapply for a credit card. I made the mistake of applying for too many credit cards at once and it has been probably over 8 months now and I still can’t open a credit card.
You have a bunch to hard inquiry’s usually you have to wait a year from when you applied
Hi John, if we use your referral link for the Freedom Unlimited card, will we still receive the $200 for spending $500 in the first 3 months along with the unlimited cash back?
Idk how late I am but the 200 back from 500 is always there, the benefit was u getting double the points
Climbed it
I defaulted on a card with them 10+ years ago. Will I always be banned?
How do you get from Preferred to Reserve?
This is a really dumb question, but when you move on to the next tier, do you cancel the prior ones? Won’t that impact your credit score? Or do you keep all of them?
Keep them all. And try to use them all at least 1 transactions a month to prevent them from being closed by the company.
So I got denied through the link for the bonus, but I called the reconsider line and they granted me the card.. did I lose the bonus from the website bc I originally got denied?
I have a capital one credit card. My credit score is now 670. Can I open a credit card with Chase now ? Or should I wait
The cap at 50% of your income is not always true. I'm at 63% to 68%, depending on how they want to figure my income.
Howdy. I just applied for the CFU 2 days ago and was approved... for basically a 24k limit. I have the CFF and CSP already, as well as the Amazon Prime card with Chase. Just had to round out the trio and the 5% on gas/groceries for a year gives me a year until i get a dedicated gas category card :D. Also, my total credit limit with Chase now is about 52k~ and my income is not yet near 100k :)
Edit: typo in a card name and adding limit info
Thanks for the DP! Are you planning on and business cards from Chase?
@@johnsfinancetips no problem! And I do not currently. Though I do have targeted offers for the ink business preferred at 100k pts and the unlimited at a $900 bonus :)
Is the chase freedom flex a step backward? I have the unlimited . I’m looking for a ccc for gas strictly and the flex for groceries .
Not at all! I'd say, both of those cards are equals, and I personally have both of them
Question. How is it that you apply for credit cards and you get approved but you don't get the intro miles or points once you spend so much? Thanks
You have to spend a certain amount within a certain time usually.
How does dining credit works with csr priority pass and restaurant in the airport?
Usually it's a $28 credit and then you can bring guests and they also get a $28 credit
I love this. Can you do the Amex credit cards?
No one accepts that card they only want MasterCard Visa and Discover
What is hyatt again ?
I have had the CSP for 48months now how would i apply for the CSR and still get the bonus?
down grade CSP to a freedom wait a few days and apply for CSR.
Hi Merry Christmas
Can u do a video on how to apply for business card as an uber driver please
Sure thing, but tldr you just apply using your SSN as the EIN
Can you skip levels? For example, I’ve only had a basic rewards card from my credit union and have never used Chase, but my credit score is 750. Can I jump straight to a Chase Sapphire card?
Yes, it doesn't depend on only score, it's more about the credit profile. How many recent hard inquiries, utilization, payment history, etc . At least thats what some Chase banker told me.
How to climb Amex Ladder next?
Chase won’t accept me😭 idek why. Not just credit but bank
Why do you all recommend so many cards? How are you even able to keep up with them?
I guess.... I qualify level 4... But i will stay with my level 2 credit cards with chase. No desire to pay to use their credit card.
I got approved for flex, unlimited, preferred and reserve . I don’t know which one to choose. I guess that’s a good problem to have. Chase doesn’t partner with American Air so I guess I’m more concerned with cash back
So which Chase credit card did you decide to get?
Hi
I’m wondering what it will do with my credit score if I close one credit card?
I have 5 credit cards and credit score 800.
I’m not using that cc and just spending money on fees.
Thank you for info
It'll go down
Why does Chase make it so difficult to view your travel credit balance?
You need to do a video showing how you have 2 million ultimate rewards points.
A lot of it has to do with the lockdown in travel from 2020 - 2023. I didn't have much to do so went through a good number of Ink business credit cards + the referrals for the Ink cards recently has been insane along with the $900 SUB, coupled with no opportunities to use the points and a previous stash I had from my intense churning days of 2016 - 2019.
Do we get 200$ sign up bonus if we use your link? I dont see it anywhere mentioned other than the double cashback?
John what do you suggest doing in my case? Chase updated my freedom student card without me applying to the freedom unlimited. Is there any way for me to negotiate for the sign on bonus? And what card do you recommend i pick up with a credit score of 776
That's interesting, I think you might be ok to get another bonus because typically the language says that you will not be able to get a freedom if you have had a bonus on a freedom within the past 24 months. Since you didn't have a bonus and you only have the card, I think you should be good!
Jp morgan reserve is not the same as chase sapphire reserve...there is a lot of benefits like insurances and concierge that I really value from the card.
Those benefits, besides the United lounge/no reporting, are features of the Visa Infinite program. In this case, yes, the CSR is the same as the JP version. Both have the concierge, primary coverage for insurance and more. It's a status flex...and there's nothing wrong with that.
It's super easy. You cut up the first one, pay the bill OFF, close the account, then start leveraging cash for your investments and purchases. The only thing that happens when you climb higher on a ladder...is the risk of injury or death when you fall off is greatly increased.
Does it hurt your credit score if you close unwanted cards ?
Yes it is better to leave it open if it's not costing you$
came here to learn more about credit cards and left with the knowledge that I should marry the guy with the JP Morgan preferred LOL (allow some humor, people)
Question: I have Freedom Unlimited and thinking about getting INK preferred for my business. Will I be able to combine my points or do I still need the personal preferred card?
Great question Emily, as long as you get the Ink Preferred, then you should be able to pool the points from the Freedom Unlimited over to the ink preferred.
What advice can you give someone who wants to start with chase, but doesn’t have good credit yet working on improving it
Open up an account with Chase with at least $250, wait two business days, and apply for the Chase Freedom Rise.
Opening a checkings or savings account can help with getting approved for their accounts. Also do your best to maximize your credit score before applying
Chase Freedom Rise has upped chances if you have at least $250 deposited in savings or chequings with Chase
Interesting that at 4:56-4:57 you used a tinkoff bank on the card of that picture as the bank is not even from US, but from Russia.🤓😂😂
Are these primarily available in America or do Canadians have access to any of these?
But do we still get the 5x on groceries?
Yup the regular public offer gets you the 5x, but not the elevated non-public bonus
It’s the same as 2023. Just saved you eighteen minutes
Ahh yes the Palladium
Can we get an AMEX version?
He doesn't get royalties from people signing up for Amex lol
You bet!! Adding it to the list!
Quick question..... Who GAF?
People who are trying to build their credit score.... Don't watch if it's not relevant to you... Dingus.
Hey can you do one of these videos for American Express please!??!
Do biz cards count to the 50% credit limit to income?
wtf is closing date and wtf is due date pls help
For example, u spent 1 k up to closing date, then u need to pay 1k before the due date.
U got it now?
Wish chase get rid of that bubble names
Lounge.
Credit card is a poker game. The House always win
Isnt it after spending 4k not 3k to get the sign up bonus??
Yes
Trying to decide whether to get my gf on the freedom unlimited bonus 1.5x or just get 200$ for spending 500$. Yes in theory she’d get more value from the bonus 1.5x but she doesn’t spend a whole lot. She still lives with parents so she’s not buying groceries and not ordering food and also doesn’t really travel. So I feel like maybe the 200$ bonus would be the better option for her. Anyone want to add their input?
Just get a M&T card with all the benefits without any fees!!!!!!!
See where you are. If your low. He’s talking years

Can't even flex the JP Morgan card. Unlike the Centurion card, nobody knows about the JP Morgan card. And those who do, don't think it's a flex anyways.
Chase is a tough lender. I got denied for the unlimited with a 700+ credit score :(
me as well, but then a month later, I went into a chase branch and got instantly approved. I would try that since now is an amazing time to get the card.
If you’re a part of the chase ecosystem, just threaten to move your money through the message center, worked for me haha, if not then brick and mortar is your best bet, or a call to change the rejection
Thanks guys!!
My score was 695 on credit karma when I applied for the unlimited but for some reason it showed 653 in their rejection letter. I talked to their reconsideration team and after answering a couple questions I was approved. I remember reading somewhere that humans don’t read initial credit card applications (which is moronic to me) so it’s always best to contact them after the rejection to get a better chance of approval through the reconsideration team.
Y’all make the same credit card videos over and over. 😢
Will being added as an AU on someone else’s card count towards the 5/24??
yea i’m curious too
no, primary’s only
@@savbeenlit nice, thanks. You know if that is also the case about the credit line total he spoke about? For example if being added as an AU now gives me access to 100k in credit line but previous to being added my credit line was 70k, and my income is only 100k, would they not approve me for anymore cards bc of that?
So officially no. BUT I ran into an issue when applying for the Ink preferred a few years ago where they did TRY to count it against my 5/24. It was because the rep didn't realize I was added as an AU and I had to explain to them "I'm an AU, I'm not liable for the debt there fore it does not count as my card". After that I was able to get it cleared.
@@johnsfinancetips I applied for the unlimited on Nov 30th and its still “under review”. Annoying. Credit is 800 and have no issues, I have called several times and no one can give me a clear answer for some reason. Was wondering if it was the “too much credit line under my name” thing that could be holding me back.
I tried applying to the Chase freedom unlimited card twice and got declined both times, I have a credit score of 717 is there a reason why im being declined or is it just random?
It could be your income
so how am I supposed to get a 2nd card if my income is the limiting factor besides by making more money? I have the discover it student card and im looking to get a 2nd card.@@leeparhity
Hmmm, how long have you had established credit and what is the reason Chase gives you for the denials?
I've only had it for about 6 months now, I havent received an exact reason as to why im being denied, they said they would send a letter within the next 7-14 days.@@johnsfinancetips
I heard a lot of shady stuff about the CEO of chase, I don’t think I’ll ever do business with them. He’s not a good person.
