  • Manila, The Philippines - I came across this street food shop which was selling Banana Cue and Turon. This was the first time I tried these sweets and I loved it.
Then it became a crazy experience very quickly...

Fun Fact: big brother "Joe" is a nickname for all Americans back in the 19th century.

be careful in crowded places like that, Travis. if anyone gets too suspiciously close to you, like follows you everywhere (especially in the streets of Manila), it might be a pickpocket/thief. not all that gets close are like that, of course. some are just curious. but if they're like literally inches away from you, just be very vigilant but do not lose the friendliness because Filipinos are just naturally friendly and curious.

Everybody says "Joe" which comes from GI Joe (American soldiers) during the world war & until now it stays on every white tourist they see coming to Philippines. So when you go back to Australia you have a nickname from Philippines "Joe" Travis Fein😉😉😉

I always buy food for people when I'm over there and it gives me so much pleasure when I do it, I only wish I was rich enough to help everyone. I see how difficult life can be for so many over there and people from the west don't appreciate just how lucky we are

"Hey Joe!" is very common in the Philippines. It is a greeting towards white male, an expression left over from WWII, a “term of endearment” for American soldiers (think “G.I. Joe”).

Many Filipino is using that term Hey Joe in the Philippines whenever they sees a white man it's because of the American influence in the island particularly the US bases wherein American soldiers are always called G.I. Joe

They assume you are American, that explains the “Hey Joe!” shoutouts. Came out of WW2 were all Americans were GI Joe.

I'm a Filipino, thanks for helping a lot of my countrymen.😍🇵🇭 When they call you Joe its just a general nick name for a foreigner that comes to our country. You should have a Filipino nick name like other vloggers that come here and you will see Filipinos will love you even more because you are embracing our culture. Having a nick means you are really close to our hearts.😀

Hi Travis, I came across your tarsier vlog in Bohol, Philippines. Watched it, loved it and prompted me to watch more of your videos especially vlogs from the Philippines (I’m Filipino descent living in the U.S. for many decades). BTW, you got me to subscribed to your channel on the first or second Philippine video I saw. You got me addicted watching your videos and how nice you interact with nature and the people. Thank you for being friendly, kind-hearted, generous, compassionate to my fellow Filipinos. Your demeanor interacting with people is superb and it tells more about how nice your morality and personality are. I am looking forward to watch more of your adventures in the Philippines. Travel safe and please do take care. Drop me a line if your visiting San Francisco, California.

I’m in NJ and worked in Engineering with Filipinos, making friends. It’s where I learned about Pancit and Sho Pao which we love. My friend use to go to NY to shop and bring stuff back to work. I’ve made Pancit, so good?
