Changing Common Parts on the CZ Scorpion 3+

- In this new how-to video, we show you how to make common changes on the CZ Scorpion 3 +. We show you how to remove the muzzle device (in this case with a flash can), change the cocking handle and grip, add a brace or stock, and remove safety levers.
These modifications take minimal tools including a standard AR armorers wrench, 1.5mm Allen wrenches for the safety paddles, 2mm for the grip, and 3mm for the sights, and a nylon hammer.

@@snoopy_g4924 I found a way to takeoff the faux suppressor, but it required me scratching the hell out of it with a channel lock to take it off, I honestly didn’t care because I didn’t want it on my gun anymore

Any update on removing the 7.8” muzzle break? Looks like you’d need a special tool?

That flash can on the 3+ micro will not just unscrew as easy as shown. Someone at the factory used loctite or rockset on mine. It just won't budge.

UPDATE on handguard removal.
The faux suppressor on the pistol needs a 3mm spanner wrench to be removed, however, there is so much loktite type adhesive that it will probably bend the holes before it comes out. Best bet is to use a LARGE strap wrench, that’s how mine came out. After that before you can remove the handguard, the barrel MUST come off. HB industries sells that tool but it’s not cheap!

Are the triggers interchangeable with binary triggers made for other models?
So does this newer version fix the OOBD issue? I feel like as a company you should have done right by your customers and recalled all the previous gen models and actually fix the issue in your design.

On the 7.8 inch 3+ I noticed that if you have a loaded mag and you're trying to load it when the bolt is closed (not pulled back) it will not load. The bolt has to be back
Why does the 7.8 version have a crush washer on the barrel?

Are the parts in the bolt like the firing pin, extractor and recoil spring as well as the parts in the trigger pack like the trigger and hammer springs the same as the older EVO 3?
The trigger casing is different, but all the internal components are the same as well as the bolt components.

@czusafirearms so the bolt assembly is still the subpar soft metal that burs over the firing pin block causing oobd? I hope not. That's disappointing and unsafe for everyone

is it possible to put a short upper on a cz scoprion 3+?
The pin holding in the charging handle won’t budge! I started tapping it with a mallet but it’s chipping the polymer, any advice? It feels stuck real good in there.

@@austinmars360 Yes I finally got some help from the CZ Scorp Reddit bros.
The trick is to find a punch that has the same diameter face as the pin, (or as close as possible). Then hitting it straight on harder than you think you should, with a lot of patience it will overcome the detent’s resistance.
It seems counter intuitive to use brute force but I was able to tap it out without destroying the OEM pin.

I just purchased the CZ Scorpion 3 plus. I want to put a folding arm brace on it. Will the 3 plus model use a brace specific to the model or will any SB Tactical folding brace for CZ Scorpion work?
Look at HB Industries for your brace.

So any Scorpion brace or stock, if SBR'd, will still work on the 3+ ?
We wouldn't say 'any.' It will work with most. It will work with the former EVO 3 that came with the Scorpion. It will work with SB Tactical braces. If there's another manufacturer that you're not sure, check with the manufacturer of the brace.
Will last Gen aftermarket triggers work with this model?

@@hoghunter6872 magazines only need a new mag catch in them. It’s not a big deal.
From what I have seen the lower will work on the older generation upper and vice versa. The issue is that the older generation 30 round magazines will not work with the lower due to the ambidextrous magazine release.
Am I the only one thinking: Scorpion which works with P-10 mags? Scorp, sidearm, and even a BUG: one mag=harmony. The other kids are doing it...
Would a P-10 lower as a future add-on be feasible? I tend to think you could make it work on your other pistol platforms too?
No the double stack double feed scorpion dedicated mag is ideal. Doubt many people would want a p10 mag version.

Well. the only thing I wanted to learn, he didn't cover. I need to know how to switch out the trigger for a binary trigger.
Anyone have the 7.8" pistol version? I'm trying to remove the muzzle device to put a suppressor on and I haven't had any luck. The entire piece spins inside the handguard.

Yep, I'm having the same problem.
Just figured it out. On the 3+, the "muzzle device" is a 6" long piece, not just the end cap.
A pin spanner wrench (for bicycles) is the perfect tool. However, if you don't plan on reusing it, just crank it off with adjustable pliers.

@Biggity_Brown I can't speak to the Micro, although it looks to be about 3" long, and it has a standard muzzle device look to it. The pistol (7.8") has a shroud. Picture an empty suppressor turned backwards.
Both have 1/2-28 threads, but the shroud took some brute force to get off. My bike spanner pin wrench was a perfect fit, but a strap wrench with a urethane (not rubber) strap might work.
Can a suppressor fit under that hand guard?
It will. We do not have a list of all compatible cans, however, the inner dimensions of the handguard are approximately 1.5 inches, so as long as your can fits this criteria it will work. This will fit most 9mm cans.
@@czusafirearms I ordered one before knowing so I’m glad! I figured as much but it looked like it would be close judging off the diameter of the blast can. I’m glad you guys made the few subtle changes and looks. Perfect refinement. Now if a aftermarket guy can 3D print the new mag cut into legacy mags the world will be a better place lol. Quick question. I just purchased a brand new cz scorpion 3 plus micro and (while at the store) I attempted to rack the scorpion. The pull on the charging handle must have been 40-50 lbs and was unsuccessful. The clerk stated that you need to use a hard surface like a desk or table. WTF. Apparently, this is common after a google search. Can someone please explain to me what to do about this besides taking this to the range and running 1000 rounds through it to see if it loosens up??? Is there anything I can do to correct this? Again, this is a BRAND NEW micro never fired. Thanks.
Did you figure this out? I'd be sending it back to CZ for warranty repair. Just got a new 3+ Micro and it's very smooth. Charging handle takes a bit less effort than AR platform 👌🏻
@@HondaTurboToys I did. It just needed to be racked 1.21k times.
I'm more concerned about the soft bolt carrier group than anything. We shouldn't have to purchase a Nexus bolt to fix what should have come proper in the first place.

yes it is I bought 2 Hb industries theta's one for each side
@@williamwofford2503 Thanks William, I figured it was posible since the charging handle doesn’t reciprocate. I had already replaced the original charging handle with a Strike Industries version and and I’m going to add a second one now.
@@pauliedweasel I have two HB industries theta's coming for mine i also trimmed that safety lever that was digging into my hand a little careful file work made it much more comfortable all that's left after that is a laser to attach on the m lok and it will be good to go , don't really need the laser , the iron sights work great , but i like the faster target acquisition you get with a good laser mounted properly .

Flash can had a ton of rocksett on it which made it difficult to remove.
The pin to remove the charging handle doesn't punch out even when using a hammer.

The video may be good, but unfortunately the instructor's BLACK T-shirt and the BLACK mat on the table mean that you can't see much of the activities performed at Evo. It is a bad or rather thoughtless idea to show a black object on a black background.
Certainly, the CZ branch in the USA has, for example, a light gray mat and light T-shirts :)) I also suggest a few close-ups, especially of the details.
Unfortunately, showing a detail the size of a coin in full perspective is a lack of respect for the viewer and a lack of basic knowledge about film editing.
