I def wouldn’t say he was a scrub in his rookie season. He had a promising rookie season and I definitely knew who he was in 2019 when he was traded to OKC.

Getting Shai was the only thing I was somewhat happy about at the time in terms of immediate success. The long term success I wasn’t so focused on until I saw how good we were after the PG Russ era.
I said on twitter the day shai was traded from the clippers that he would end up being a 25-30ppg scorer mvp caliber player that the clips fucked themselves over for. Let’s be real he already better than pg currently

One of my favourite things to watch this year is the lineup that thunder plays at the end of the first quater when shai is out there without jdub giddey or chet and he posession after posession gets a good shot for himself or others

@@hholaahola contributed heavily to a high level environment, Playoff is no joke it's a different beast to withstand especially as a young player in both his Rookie & Sophomore year, SGA helped the clippers be pushed the 2019 warriors to 6 games then the next season.
Shai was crucial for OKC to get that playoff spot but also pushed the 2020 rockets to 7 games to the very brink of elimination while more recently he led the Thunder as the youngest team of all time in NBA history to have 40 wins and making the Play-Ins with no veterans plus they were riddled with injuries too mostly in the frontcourt then sent home the pelicans in round 1 but sadly he got elbowed in the face versus the wolves because of that he completely ended the night on a poor shooting game although bounced back in the World Cup being clutch against France, Spain, Slovenia then last USA to get Canada it's first podium finish in the World Cup.
We need to start mentioning more how Chris Paul affected SGA. Even though they played only one year together, I think SGA learned so much in that time from him, the success an what it takes to win games, making the playoffs when no one expected them to, and then the struggles in the playoffs making him realize just how far he still had to go. And now he is leading this young Thunder team and they will be a problem for years to come.

Shai’s injuries weren’t that serious within that 2 year span. The thunder just decided to sit him towards the end of each season in order to lose more
I remember as an OKC fan waking up to the new of the paul George trade, and talking to my roommate about it. And mostly talking about how PG would do on the clippers and about all the picks OKC got. I also remember saying "a lot of people liked this Shai Gilgeous Alexander guy too, he didn't do much his rookie season but maybe hell turn into something." If only I knew. . .

By the way clippers were heartbroken to trade Shai and even said that thunder wouldn't have traded Paul George to clippers if Shai wasn't included so he was not a "bag of chips". It's December 14, 2023 & I believe Shai is right now the best guard in the world at just 25 YO & Curry & Dame 35+, Luka nowhere near as well rounded as Shai, SGA is the full package 25, offense, defense, BBALL IQ, a leader & has the Thunder doing really well so far this season I would say they would be a sleeper for me to win it all & all because of Shai & what he brings to the table even tho I still right now have the Bucks, Cs, Nuggets & T Wolves, who I peeped with their injury problems last season what they were capable of if healthy, are above the Thunder but Shai is a monster, I got him as the best guard & maybe 3rd best player overall right now behind Jokic & Giannis
