It’s honestly a good rifle I went shooting today with my ab3 in 300 win mag with some 178 grain elds loads I worked up and was shooting groups of five rounds at 3/4 inch Moa at 100 yards. It definitely will get the job done for a budget or entry level rifle
If you want a .30-06 nail driver. Buy a Thompson Center Venture in 30-06. Smoooooooooth bolt. Deadly accurate. I cry thinking my ex wife sold hers without telling me she was going to... I would have bought it back for x3 the price she sold it for It would stack cheap remington 150 grain, 165 grain and 180 grain soft point at 300 metres in a 1 inch circle if you ran each tip over a nail file one time before loading the mag.
I have the "hunter" version of this. No threaded barrel and has a wooden stock, is half a pound heavier. Other than that, these have the exact same specs across the whole series, the A-bolt III can put bullets through the same hole/within 1/4 inch (center to center) at 100, and even up to 200 if you're good enough. Solid construction, super smooth bolt, just the right balance of weight (not too heavy, not too light), affordable, very ergonomic, and a VERY nice single stage trigger. I own one, along with many other firearms, and I can say it's definitely one of my favorites. Edit; forgot to mention, yes it looks cheap, but performs FAR better than it looks. Hunter version looks far better.
@@killertruth186 cuz there doesn't need to be. It has an incredible trigger and has great out-the-box accuracy. There is really no need to modify it. You can buy the version with a threaded barrel, and you can mount a picatinny tail on top of the gun for modularity. But why would you? Slap a sling and a scope on there and you're golden.

It was terrible at factory settings (trigger travel) until I had changed it to a much better setting. I have it in 30-06. In the hunter variant as well. But I would love to load more than just 4+1 bullets. The plastic stock (after disassembling the rifle) looked like it was made for older rifles (or it had a botched stock). Sure I had it used. But I am still learning my rifle.

Mine has 1-2mm travel at 4lbs, which if you ask me, is an AMAZING trigger. I have no idea why it would have bad reviews (any lighter than 4, I'd call it a safer concern, any heavier, then your nerves having to pull that hard can mess up your shot) Edit; I didn't have to adjust mine from factory.
Love my Ruger M77. I'm 31 and starting my first hunt this year with it. A wood stock is necessary on a hunting rifle in my opinion. The extra weight helps mitigate recoil and it balances out the gun. That's my gripe with plastic stocks is, sure it reduces weight, but only on the stock. The weight still remains on the barrel which not leads to an unbalanced gun. Weight reduction isn't everything, balance is more important in my humble opinion.

My dad has one of these, with a Recoil Hawg triple baffle muzzle brake, bipod, and 3-9x50mm IR (Illuminated Reticle) scope. Shoots like a beauty, kicks very little, and is very fun to shoot. He promised to leave it to me in his will.

(Idea is if you want to just shoot it, you can just keep it at a secure alternate location like a Gun Range. But you want to Store and Use, You need Class License for both, and lesser accidentals... Tho the Use license is more like if you are a User and if you have the stable mental capability.) Of course, you still want to CCW, you still need that license, as per norms, but the restrictions is more for the higher killing power ones... and maybe for the ones 3D printed... ( maybe they need an alternate e-license as a 3D Gun smiths, tho that ain't gonna stop people from using and print)

I just got one of these for my son. The quality is absolutely awesome compared to some of the other entry rifles. The trigger yes is plastic but has a nice break to it. Haven’t shot it yet but that’s the report so far.
i have one i got used for like 400 bucks. walnut stock. .308 stupid accurate and shoots any 150 gr round ive fed it phenomenal. never a hiccup with it.
I really wish manufacturers would just make the stocks a little bet better. I think a lot of the newer lower cost rifles shot great, I just don't like the feel of the stocks.

I have a mosin put in one of their thumbhole stocks, i absolutely love the feel of that rifle. Although if the op is not great with tools id highly recommend having the stock professionally installed as its far from just a drop in and go.
I bought a Marlin XS7 with a light, cheap stock. I shoved 2 tennis balls cut in half into the butt stock and floated the barrel except for about an inch which I glass bedded as well as the recoil lug. It definitely sturdied things up a bit.👍

It's called the recoil lug. If you epoxy the bottom of your action and lug between the stock, it hardens to an exact fit. Watch some videos on bedding rifles. It's called "glass bedding" because they used fiber glass, now they use a 2 part epoxy. Even JBWeld.👍

For those talking about the wood vs plastic debate, polymer is better in humid/ wet environments so that the wood doesn’t warp or rot over time. Wood everywhere else is fine. Both have use, both are good, both are cool. Chill.
Looks ok depending on the price range. Bolt isn’t fluted, could freeze in place if hunting in really cold weather. Barrel isn’t fluted, will take longer to cool down when putting more than 5 rounds through it at the range. And a non directional muzzle break, why? Otherwise, I’m not a fan of all the plastic. I understand it saves weight; but, I will sacrifice that for the accuracy of a solid stock.
Have a 1100 browning 6.5 Creedmoor my 600 ruger American 6.5 is hands down far better shooter the browning is definitely a safe queen while my ruger is what I grab to go shoot a deer or antelope or shoot in general it doesn't miss
I have an early 2000s model Abolt 2 and it’s an amazing rifle chambered in 270wsm I don’t shoot it much due to not being able to find ammo but I wouldn’t own a new browning Abolt to much plastic. Iv taken a liking to Weatherby and bergara rifles as well as the 6.5PRC and the 300PRC

Had one in .30-06 and despite multiple loads tested it was a 2+ MOA gun. Ended up selling it and bought a Winchester Model 70 that shot 1/2-3/4 MOA.

my favorite rifle is a 7mm. I went to 3 different stores looking for one. didn’t find a single 7mm rifle or any ammo….
AB3s are decent entry-level rifles. Nothing like the original A-Bolts, and definitely not an X-Bolt, but they will get the job done.

Freefloating. Try shooting 20 rounds so the barrel gets some heat. The stock flexes like a rubberdick and touches the barrel if you put pressure on it

Yeah, the stock was NOT made for the AB3. It was refurbished from their other rifles.
