Pre and post war my father, Alex Walker worked on the Ferries. He retired just before the Bridge opened. He was one of the Ferry masters.
He and another of the Masters, Andrew Findly died within 24 hours of each other, both lovely gents.

My grandfather Colin Mitchell Brand was one of the Engineers on the ferries in the 40s and 50s and worked with Jim Anderson down in the engineroom

The fifies went across the Tay from Fife to the Angus shore,I don't think they managed to go overland to Newtyle!
Anyway,I know you didn't mean that. I remember them well as my dad's tattie store backed on to the harbour.
Happy days indeed when Dundee was the third city in Scotland and Dundee the best team.

    I am a sausage Bill...What I really meant to say was Newport...OOPS!
Please keep football out of the picture Bill or I will have to mention that wonderful day I just spent at Hampden Park on the 15th May 2010 to see the famous Dundee United lift the Scottish Cup...Again!
