It always saddens and annoys me to see how much of the city was destroyed in the 60's. What were they thinking?
A disgrace , what was done to Dundee in the '60's. Especially the beautiful West Station in the last picture, demolished by vandalous philistines to make way for...the Tay bridge spaghetti junction. It still hurts.
Lovely scenes. So much was lost due to corruption and poor planning. Dundee was truly a great city then. Lets hope it can come back.

I remember cycling up the Lochee Rd from work every night to get to Kings X road and onto St Marys.
So many memories. Dundee was my home from 1946 to 1967 when I enlisted in the RAF. My best memories was working as a stagehand at the Palace Theatre, I was liucky to be able to photograph some of the cast and artists and looking back on the old B&W photos brings back the memories and a few tears thinking about the ones who have passed on.
I remember the RAF Recruiting Office, I enlisted there in 1967 and in 1968 left Dundee and only returned a couple of times. It opened up a new life for me.

I used to live in baltic street off the wellgate they all used to meet bottom wellgate take blokes on then have there fire in mill before xmas every year to get the big money clearing out ,they all used drink in whities bar good times i was a boy.

Systemic poverty linked to being the drug death capital of Europe is one thing which clearly sadly hasn’t changed where the underlying problems remain as relevant now as when this film was recorded. Suffice to say giving buildings a face-lift isn’t the solution to the problems of Dundee

Brilliant video. As said the only of a kind. Be great to have this on show at Verdant Works. Was there yesterday and that was so informative about lots of aspects of the mills but never seen anything like this. Well done to everyone, past and present who made this.

Some of the worst memories I have of Dundee :( lived St. Marys and it was hell with the snow.
These kids will be in their mid 70s now.
